Just a note to my readers

I just wanted to leave this note on my blog since I can’t possibly email you all. I will be MIA (missing in action) for a little while. I will know more on Monday and I will be able to update then.

Friday evening as I was making supper i managed to burn my right hand (which is my writting hand) which was entirely a stupid mistake on my part and can’t figure out why I did it. Stupid mistake of the week. I was making a glaze for ham I had cooking. The burner was on (forgot to turn it off) so once the glaze was ready poured it over the ham and put pot in sink to wash. Washed the pot and put it back on that same burner that I had left on. When I was read to take the ham out of the oven I picked up that pot and touched it, for no apparent reason. I ended up going to the clinic cause the hand was still burning and blisters formed with an hour of burning my hand. So my hand is wrapped up now and I go back on Monday for a bandage change.

Yea the dumbest thing ever I know. LOL

**Kitty Goes to Washington Review

This is the second book in the Kitty series.

Kitty has taken her show on the road. She broadcasts her show live on Friday nights from a different city each week. As Kitty is on her cross country journey she talks to her lawyer who tells her that she has been called to appear before a Senate hearing in regards to the Center for the Study of Paranatural biology.

As Kitty enters Washington she comes upon a road block thinking its an accident at first but then realizes that they were looking for her. The Vampire Mistress, Alette, has offered Kitty protection. Kitty is unsure at first why she would be offering to protect Kitty. When she meets with Alette she informs Kitty that its not safe for her and that she must always be with a body guard. We know Kitty and know that she won’t go for it she will rebel. Which she does of course. There would be no story if she did.

Kitty’s first night in Washington she has been invited to an Art Exhibit. She is forced to bring Leo with her. At the gallery she leaves to go to the bathroom and bumps into Luis who is a hot Brazilian were-jaguar. They manage to escape Leo and he brings Kitty to Crescent. Crescent is a place were all were-animals gather. She meets Ahmed who is the leader and speaking with him she realizes he does things differently then what she is use too.

Kitty is hoping to talk more with Dr Flemming and find out more about Elijah Smith. She is a little surprised when she finds out he has been called to testify at the hearing. What is Elijah’s story and can he really cure the supernatural?

It was really nice to see that Carrie mentioned some well known Washington landmarks in the book and that Kitty wanted to see all the tourists spots. This showed the human aspect of Kitty.

Thank you to Miriam at Hachette for sending me this book. I am really enjoying the series so far and I am happy that I decided to step outside my comfort zone to read them. This is a genre of books that I normally wouldn’t have read on my own. Thank you again.

For another review of the book you can check out Donna’s blog.

This is the bookcase in my living room and bsically the books that are on the shelves are books that I have bought, from reps, wins and from meets up with friends.

So those are some of the many books that I own. Once I get my bookshelves made in the basement I will post those. Hopefully by this summer it will be made. So am I the only one with a lot of books? Please let me know.

A Not So Simple Life Review

PUB DATE: July 2008

This is another great start of a series for Melody Carlson. I am really enjoying reading Melody Carlson’s books. What I really liked about this book was the green tips Maya offered at the end of each chapter on what to do to make your living environment greener.

For me I am thankful to live in an area where last summer we were provide bins to compost food, grass etc. I never realized how much we threw in the garbage until I started composting. Instead of throwing about 4 bags of garbage out weekly I am down to one small bag. Plus I am a big time recycler.

A Not So Simple Life is book one in the series of Diary of a Teenage Girl. Its about Maya Stark. She is a 15 year old girl who appears to have it all, famous parents, money, and a Beverly Hills lifestyle. Her dad was a 80s pop star who is making a comeback. (Does that sound familiar? It seems so many popstars seem to be making a comeback these days doesn’t it?)

When you really look into Maya’s life you realize its not as perfect as it appears. Maya is not happy. She is trying to get emancipated from her parents. More so her mother. Her parents are divorced. Her dad is away on tour and has very little time for Maya. Her mother drinks and does drugs. So any money Maya’s father sends her mother takes it to support her habit. Her mother will vanish for days on end leaving Maya alone to fend for herself sadly Maya is use to it and manages to get along just fine. Maya is mature beyond her years.

Realizing that in order to get emancipated Maya needs to make sure she has money in her bank account to show a judge she will be able to support herself. Maya gets a job at a chic boutique on Rodeo Drive. While working there she is approached by a woman who works at a Ralph Lauren store. From there she is told she could model. Realizing she could make money she decides to go ahead and begins to work as a model. Maya saves about ten thousand dollars and its all in her account until one day she goes to deposite a check when she realizes there is a mistake. Maya has only about a thousand left. Her mother took the money. Maya is furious. She goes home, her mother is gone and she starts looking around. She realizes that her mother found the paper work on the emancipation.

Maya is furious so she calls her father and tells him everything. She tells him she is going to kill herself but she doesn’t really. When Maya’s mother finally comes home Maya confronts her about stealing the money and her mother is like its our money not just yours. This angers Maya so they start fighting. Thankfully before it can get to physical her dad storms in. Her dad tells her to pack her things cause she is going with him. Things are fun on the tour until Maya realizes its getting old fast.

Figuring out what to do they come up with the plan for Maya to go live with her uncle Allen and cousin Kim. Her father will send money for her to live in and she likes that idea.

This story continues in book 2 Its A Green Thing: Diary of a teenage girl.

Peasant Pig and the Terrible Dragon Review

PUB DATE: March 3, 2009

Thank You to Sterling Kids for sending us Richard Scarry. Michael loves them.

Peasant Pig and the Terrible Dragon was previously released September 1980.

The time in history is the middle ages. The town is Busylande. The peasants of Busylande live and work the fields around the castle preparing the wheat and the grapes.

One day the King declared a holiday in Busylande. Everyone took part in the festivities from playing ball, to watching the knights jousting to dancing and singing. Everyone was having fun until suddenly there was a cry for help. There was a dragon on the way. Everyone ran to the castle. Everyone was safe except for Princess Lily. Peasant Pig offered to look for her. He looked over the fields but couldn’t see her so he shot Lowly Worm into the air. Lowly spotted her. The dragon had captured her. He told the king and the knights went off to rescue her. But sadly the horses were afraid of the dragon and stopped in their tracks throwing the knights off them. The poor knights were on their back unable to move because their armor was too heavy.

The dragon laughed at them. Cheeky dragon. (As Michael said) Wait its not a real dragon its just a band of robbers dressed up as the dragon. The tied up the knights and stole their armor. The leader of the robbers shot an arrow with a note attached to the castle. It was a ransom note demanding all the gold and jewels in exchange for the princess. Peasant comes up with a plan to trick the dragon instead of gold they use bars of soap. Peasant lands in the grape juicer turning the juice into a soap suds. Forcing all the robbers to rush for water in the moat. Thankfully they forgot to take off their armor and now are stuck in the moat. Although thanks to Big Hilda who falls into the moat the big splash released the robbers. Finding out that there was no dragon Peasant Pig had an idea. He frees the knights and they become the dragon. They scare the robbers and tie them up.

The King see’s the Princess on the back of the dragon thinking she is in danger and not realizing that its Peasant Pig breaking the Princess back puts together a bag of pepper and uses Lowly as the arrow to drop the pepper on the dragon. Once the pepper is dropped everyone sneezes and the costume comes off. The king makes Peasant Pig a knight, Lowly Worm is the jester and the robbers were sent to the dungeon to make soup.

You might recognize that name. He is the hair dresser on TLC’s What Not to Wear Show. You can see my review Here. I got inspiration for my new look from his book. To see the new me you can see the New Look

The other challenge that I am taking part in is the 100+ Reading Challenge hosted by J.Kaye. For the month of March I read only 8 books. This brings the total of books read to 31. I have reviewed all the books but three as they are set to post this week.

I was lucky this month with books coming to the door. I got 23 books. One of the books was a won and nine of the books were for Michael. The nine books that Michael got have all been read and reviewed on this blog.

My book buying was a little more then the previous month. I bought two: American Wife and Twilight. Yes I caved and bought the first book. I figured since I read the Kitty books that I would try this book. For Michael I bought him six books from scholastic school orders. Four were french books and the other two were English ones.

Also in March I got together with Tina, Donna and Avis. We met up at our regular little cafe for hot drinks and some lively discussions. I came home with five books. Here is what Books.

Contest wise on my blog this month I am giving away ONE copy of Girls In Trucks and this ends April 13th and the other giveaway is for ONE copy of April Fools Day and this ends April 3rd.

I was very lucky this month and got four awards. These are all special to me because I know that some are reading my blog and I truly appreciate them. Thanks to Lily for the I love your blog, Lily and Luanne for the Este blog investe award,Wrighty for the Sisterhood Award and Daisy for Lets be Friends Award. These are some really great blogs that I always check out and if you haven’t looked at them then I am telling you you should check them out.

Also this month I shared photos of my son’s books. Yes you read that right books. He has two small book cases completely filled as well as a shelf in his closet. I think I might have to pick up another bookcase for him very soon. You can see the pictures Here. I will be posting pictures of my books perhaps in April as a few people have been asking to see them.

That was my month how did yours turn out.
