(Meme) Sunday’s in Bed With…. #17

I was just about to get ready for bed when I realized I had to do a Sundays In Bed With…. post.

The awesome blogger behind this is Kate from Midnight Book Girl   not only is she an awesome blogger but she is was one of my roommates for BEA. YAY!!

Midnight Book Girl

Sundays In Bed With….is a meme I’ve started to share the book we’re spending the morning in bed with, or the one we’d like to stay curled up in bed with all Sunday if only our busy lives would allow! For fun, take a picture of the book in your bed, or simply write up a post or comment below sharing your Sundays in Bed With book. Quoted from Kate’s blog

I am happy to report that I was able to spend some time in bed with this, this morning:

I was able to get in some reading this morning since we didn’t have hockey. Michael is in the Evaluation stage now and has had two days under his belt and they have rearranged the players so now we don’t play until Wednesday night.

Hope your having a good long weekend and that you manage to find some time read this week. Its hard to believe that this is the last long weekend of the summer. Where did the time go?

Glossy Box September Edition

If your new to my blog and are wondering what GlossyBox is let me tell you.

– Glossybox is based out of so many countries so you will have to google to find out if you are able to get it. (Austria, United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Netherlands, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Italy, Brazil, Spain, China, Japan, Taiwan)

-This is the Canadian box and it only ships within Canada.

– Its $15 a month and its a recurring charge.

– You can expect to receive 5 deluxe beauty samples a month.

– Each month you will be asked to provide feedback on the products you receive and in turn earn glossy dots which can then be redemed for a free box. Please note that I think the glossy dots expire. When I looked into my account I see that I don’t have has much as before so you have to keep checking.

So lets get into the September box shall we.

I love that Glossy Box has stayed the same with packaging. I love those boxes because you can reuse them for almost anything.
Another thing they have stuck with is the black envelope that holds the cards. The month along with the product card we got a card from B. Kamins offering 25% off your next purchase.
The first product in the box is Dove Cleartone anti-perspirant and its a 17g sample. Its specifically created to help reduce underarm discoloration. I am excited to try this. I like the smell its not to strong and it would be something that I would try.

Sample is 17g for $1.51

Full size is 45g for $3.99/$4.99
This is a new to me company and products. Its B. Kamins and they are a Canadian company. They graciously sent out a package of their Lip balm SPF 20 and Maple Body lotion. The Lip Balm also has UVA/UVB sunscreens. Even though the summer is over you still need to protect your lips.

There is really no taste to the lip balm and its a thicker formula then most lip balms. Its a nice change to my regular lip balm.

The Maple Body Lotion is an anti-aging lotion infused with honey, vitamins A&E and the Bio-Maple compound. The lotion is really nice and it went on really nice and blended in not leaving my hands greasy. I thought it might have smelled of Maple since there is a Bio-Maple compund.

Sample is (lip balm) 4ml for $5.60

(body lotion) 12ml for $2.73

Full size is (lip balm) 15g for $21

(Body lotion) 180ml for $41
A product I am familiar with is Wella and this is the Wella Mirror Polish finish shine serum. This is sent specifically for my particular hair type. I love trying Wella products and excited to add this into my hair routine.

Sample is 40ml for $16.99
This is actually a full size product

I have to admit that I actually ended up seeing some blog posts before I got my box and when I saw the following product I squealed and did the dance of joy and prayed to God that I would get it in my box.

When I got my box I made myself not get worked up because I didn’t want to face disappointment. Its happened in the past where I have seen items in various boxes in posts or videos and not received them.

So when I opened the box and say this, I was thrilled and so very happy.

This is the outer packaging of the Crimson Amulet Collection. Its a limited edition by NYX. The outer packaging is amazing.
The inside is just like the outside. Its held closed by a little clasp. It measures at 4 1/2 x 7
Upon opening it you can see the 24 eye shadows in various shades which are all so pretty. There is also four sponge application brushes to apply the eyeshadow.

There is also a pretty good size mirror which is about 3×4. Even the inside is very nice.

When you flip the page you see three ladies wearing different looks that you can replicate. The other page holds 4 lip glosses, 5 blushes, an Illuminator, an eye liner and a HD definition shadow base.
I know this picture doesn’t do it justice but the eye shadow palette is very nice and there is a mix of colors from blue, pink, greens and browns. You can get so many great looks with these shades

I’m not sure about the lip glosses and how dark they will be on my but I am dying to try them out. I am excited to try the blushes since that is something I don’t normally wear.

Full size is $25

The total value of the box is $51.83 (-$15 for the subscription $36.83)

I am totally thrilled with this box and love it.

I love Glossy Box and I am a huge fan and advocate of this box. They have yet to really disappoint me. I have been a subscriber for many many months and I love each and every box. If you are looking for a great beauty subscription box then I highly recommend this one.

The Natural Beauty Box – September Edition

I have stumbled upon another beauty box subscription service and its The Natural Beauty Box.
A little bit about this service:

  • $20.00 + GST (I paid $21.00 for this)
  • Its not a recurring charge so you have to go back each month to subscribe to the box.
  • You get a mininum of 10 samples each month (your box can contain anywhere from 10-15)
  • no foil samples (those 1 time samples)
  • These are all deluxe sized samples
  • Its 95 to 100 % all natural ingredients
  • Every box comes with a guide on what the products are, useful beauty tips and tons of coupons for every product in the box.
  • you never get the same product two months in a row
  • you also won’t get two of the same type of products in the box ie eye creams
  • They ship to the US, Canada, United Kingdom and International

So lets get to what was inside this box this month.

Each month it arrives in a brown box and inside that brown box is this beautiful zebra printed bag. I believe starting in October they will be doing a different kind of print on the bag which I am excited to see what kinds of prints they will use.
Inside the box is an envelope that holds your invoice and a sheet that has all the product, tips, value of the sample and what the full size is, coupons to purchase full size items and about the company and rewards info. Love that is personalized to me.

This is what the letter looks like. (Front and back)

Loved how this was all packaged and I wish there is a way I could take pictures and film at the same time.

So as you can see I grouped the products together so there wouldn’t be an extra ton of photos. I will tell you what the product is and how much the sample and full size are,

Delizioso  Skincare/ Watermelon & CoQ10 Face Mask pouch. The package said this was 1oz but the sheet said 2 oz and the sample is $10.00 and the full size is $18.95

La Mellite Mandarin Expresso Body Scrub. Smelling this you get more of the coffee smell. I got a 2oz sample and its worth $5.00 and the full size is $35.00

Natural Luxury Relax & Relieve Stress Bath Tea. I have no idea what this is and I presume you put it in your bath and soak in it. Please let me know if this is right. The sample is worth $4.50 and for the full size it will be $16.50

Kitty Cosmetics Red Raspberries Natural Hand Soap. The sample is 1 oz at $4.00 and the full size is $9.95 This smells delicious
Shea Terra Whipped Shea Butter Creme. I wasn’t sure at first but a little goes a long way so I will have this for awhile I think. I got a 1oz sample for $6.00 and the full size is $18.00
This is Dr Emerald products. We got sent:
Hair Restoration Spray the sample is 0.50oz for $9.00 and the full size is $32.00. I really want to find out more about this before I put this in my hair.

Natural Hand Sanitizer this is a full size product 1oz for $5.60 this is very liquidy and not like your typical hand santizer but it smells very clean like

Natural Anti-Microbial Hand Soap in Forest Dew. This has a very clean forest smell. Like being in the forest. The sample we got sent was 1oz for $5.00 and the full size would be $16.00 I am excited to try this out.

This is another full size product and it sells for $32.00 its the Natural Luxury Rejuvenating & Nourishing Under Eye Serum. I am curious to see what this will do and hopefully it will make me appear not so tired.
Sorry this is upside down no idea why its like that. Anyways this is Temptations Bath N’ Bodys Lime in da Coconut Body spritz. We got 5ml for $5.50 and the full size is $25.00 which I think is a resaonable price. I love the scent of this so much and its exactly what it says it is. This will be perfect for our long Canadian winter when you need spring/summer to come.
Finally the make up. So excited for this. Ferro Cosmetics sent the Desert Rose Blush X3 and I was really bummed cause I spilled some and that is all I am left with. Hopefully its a few uses. The sample they sent was 0.25oz for $6.00 amd the full size is $17.00

Petal ORganics Glow& shine Facial Primer. I love primer and use it all the time since discovering it. We got 0.25oz sample for $10.00 and the full size is $30.00. I would be curious to know how big the full size is before purchasing it.

The All Natural Face sent this Peach Ice mineral powder eye shadow with sponge tip applicator along with that they sent the cream lip and cheek blush in Dusky Rose. I love the eye shadow alot. It looks darker in the picture. The sample was worth $4.50. I have no idea how much the full size would be.

So this is what I got. Exactly 13 deluxe samples and they have a total worth of $107.10 wow that is crazy and I know I got my money’s worth on this one thats for sure. I am super excited to try everything out and there has been a few products I have begun to use and love them. Knowing that they are all natural is a good feeling.

What do you think? Is this something that interests you? Do you subscribe to this and if so did we get the same things?

(Meme) Top Ten Tuesdays

If your new to my blog and are wondering what Top Ten Tuesday is, well its a weekly original Tuesday meme that is hosted by the lovely bloggers over at The Broke and the Bookish.
Todays topic is:

Top Ten Series I Haven’t Finished (because either you didn’t like them, you just have procrastinated, etc…)

This weeks topic really made me think. This won’t be the typical list or the way to do this meme but I am adjusting it to my needs.

  1. V.C Andrews. I was a huge fan of the books and I admit I still buy them in hopes I will get back into them. I am so far behind in the books that I lost count. I think I read up until the Wildflowers Series.
  2. James Patterson. This is another author I stopped reading and not sure why. I usually read everything by him in the stand alone books and his other books.
  3. Middle School series by James Patterson. I read the first one and loved it and I thought this would get me back into his books but sadly I haven’t picked up anything and I would love to read this series. Thankfully I am only one book behind.
  4. Alex Cross series by James Patterson. I read up until Cross Country so I am not that far behind in the series. Two books behind I think.
  5. Women’s Murder Club by James Patterson. I only got to the 7th book so I am behind by four books.
  6. Kathy Reichs is another author I haven’t finished. I think I only got about half way through her books. I loved these books but along the way I got side tracked.
  7. Kiss/Scarlet Wakefield Series by Lauren Henderson. I read the first two books and loved them and actually got the next two but just never got to read them yet.
  8. Melody Carlson’s series: Diary of a Teenage Girl and On The Runway.
  9. Holly Blacks Spiderwick Chronicles. Not sure why I didn’t finish this since I have them all.
  10. The Kitty Norville Series by Carrie Vaughn. I was going through these books like there was no tomorrow and then just stopped.

What books haven’t you finished in a series? Any of the ones I put?

Lovely Letters Swap

One of the things I love about the blogs I follow is that even though we share the same interests someone will always post something I knew nothing about and this can be in regards to books, make up, products, meme’s or swaps. You know what I mean.

Well tonight when I came online I saw that Maria from A Passion for Books & Real Life a blogger that I meant online and follow, posted about  Lovely Letters Swap. I had to check it out.

The hosts for this is http://modernbuttercup.blogspot.ca/ and http://www.kittyandbuck.com/ .  Please note the following was copy and pasted from Modern Buttercup’s blog.

We’d love for you to take part in the exchange! If you’re interested, this is how it will work:

-You need to commit to sending 4 letters over an 8 week period. We will assign partners and you will share letters back and forth for the duration of the project. Only sign up if you can commit to sending the 4 letters, nobody wants to miss out on receiving some lovely letters!

-Each fortnight we will post a new project which will tell you the theme of that fortnight’s exchange. At the end of the letter exchange, you have the option to take part in a package exchange too, just in time for Christmas! This part is optional, but so much fun! The exchange is open internationally, we will try to pair you with someone in your area to keep postage costs to an absolute minimum for you.

How do I sign up?! Well… it’s simple! Just fill in (and submit) THIS FORM . (Filling in the form is the only way we can accept your application) The form also has a section that allows you to enter a few words about yourself to ensure you are paired with someone who shares similar interests to you. The deadline for signing up is Thursday 27th September. We will allocate your partners via email over the next few days and launch the Lovely Letters on Tuesday 1st October with your first task.

At the end of Lovely Letters (probably at the same time as the final task), you can take part in an optional package exchange too. The package exchange is a chance for you to put together a special gift for someone (who will be allocated separate to your letter exchange partner) and receive one in return. The value of your package should be $20-$30 including packaging. Please express your interest in participating in the package exchange on the sign up form.

Spread the word to everyone you know! It would be awesome to have a lot of participants to spread the lovely letters, and make lots of new friends! 🙂

Bath & Body Works Fall Edition Haul

This past rainy weekend, I decided to go and check out Bath & Body Works to see what yummy Fall scents they came out with and perhaps grab a few items to spruce up the house with some Fall scents. I did a big haul in the summer and realized that all I had were summer scents and wanted something to ease into fall with.
One of the things I wanted to check out were the hand soaps and I spotted some that looked good and smelled divine. I only grabbed these three because they were 3 for $15 which is really good considering they sell for $5.50 each.

I didn’t want to grab to many because I wasn’t sure how they would smell on my hands but after using the Warm Apple Cider foaming hand soap, I am hooked and planning on going back to buy some more because the smell is delicious and its long lasting. I love apple cider.

The other two moisturizing soaps were Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin and Creamy Pumpkin. I am sure these will be just delicious as well.

Near the soap display was the promotion of 2 (14.5oz) candles for $22 and this was a deal because the candles sell for $22.50 each here in Canada.
I knew right away that this was one candle I was going to buy because I love the smell of fresh picked apples and apples in general. When I lit the candle I have to say it smelled so good and left me craving an apple. It was a nice clean burn with a nice scent nothing over bearing. I plan on eventually doing a review on this.
This next candle was a little harder to pick because they had so many awesome fall scents that I didn’t know which to buy but I eventually settled on Pumpkin Carmel Latte. I loved the scent before burning it, during burning it and after.
If I had the money I would have bought the whole fall collection in candles so I settled on gettng this, 2 for $5 smaller ones (1.3oz I believe) instead. Its the Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin and Pumpkin Cupcakes but there was a few other scents that I am thinking of going back to grab before its too late for the sale.
This was a total impulse buy. I saw a lady walking around with this and thought it was too darn cute and my love for owls how could I pass this up. Its an owl candle holder and it holds the above small ones. I haven’t used it yet because I had wanted to take this pic first.
Another impulse buy was the above at 3 for $10. Its the Honey Autumn Apple spritzer and Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin spritzer along with the body lotion to go with it. I am trying to find out if they have the apple lotion in store.

I love shopping at Bath & Body Works  and will probably go back again this week to grab a few other things.

I am going to do a review eventually on all of the above products.

What fall scents do you love?

Hard to believe its been a month since I last saw you

For some reason it always feels like its been months since I last saw Tina from Bookshipper when it reality its only been a month. Thankfully we were able to get together today (Saturday) for breakfast at our regular little breakfast spot in Tina’s neck of the woods.

I was a little late in getting to the restaurant because Michael had hockey camp from 7 to 8:20am and then getting into Tina’s city I hit every single red light on my path. This was a first time thats happened. Thankfully I made it in good time and Tina was still waiting for me 🙂

We quickly ordered breakfast (wish I had taken pics) and I was pretty hungry and ate rather quickly and after breakfast we got to talk. I am really happy that we are getting back onto our monthly breakfast dates again.

I just realized that coming up shortly is our four year anniversary. Its hard to believe I have only known Tina for four years cause it feels like I have known her longer. Tina is an awesome blogger and an amazing friend.

Its always nice to sit and talk with Tina because we talk about everything and its no holds barred. No matter what Tina says she can never ever offend me. LOL This time was no exception we talked about our mailboxes, book requests, life, Tina’s job, traveling and of course BEA.

I am really hoping it will all work out in the end and that we can attend BEA again but if its not meant to be then so be it right? We had this discussion on how things happen for a reason and that things have been mapped out before we were born. I have to admit that I am a firm believer of that.

When it was time to leave I was a little bit sad because the time flew by so quickly and it just felt like we sat down to eat. It always feels like time flies when we get together.

So until our next meet up…….see you soon Tina.

Before we left we did an exchange and you can go to Tina’s blog to see what I passed onto her. Tina graciously passed on her copies of Publisher’s Weekly to me and I love this magazine ever since picking up copies at BEA 2010. I have decided to read these magazines very slowly. Thanks Tina for passing these on to me.
