Glymm Bag July Edition

When I look at all the beauty box subscription services that I pay for monthly it always seems like there is two that is always consistent with shipping out when they say they will ship out and that is Topbox (which I posted last week) and Glymm (which I just got today).

A just in case your wondering what happened to my Loose Button edition posts well recently they changed their subscription service and they are now only going to be shipping out four times a year instead of monthly. I believe I will be getting that box in August some time.

Okay lets get back to Glymm shall we. Well I got my box today and I was excited because I got notification on Friday that it was getting ready to ship and that my estimated delivery date  was today well low and behold when I checked my status I saw that it was out for delivery.

I have to say that I find that Topbox and Glymm seem to be consistent in shipping as well, I always get them when it says I get them. Which I can never figure out from Glossybox. Can anyone else figure that out?

As you can see there is no longer a box. Which I have to admit that I really miss. What do you think?

This month the make up bag is orange. Which is a nice summer color. I actually like the color as its bright and summery and perfect for the pool bag. Since getting this I have put it in our pool bag and its perfect for sun screen, a comb, wipes and some change to buy stuff at the canteen.

The bag sells for $12

Here is a sneak peek into this months Glymm bag. Oh I am so excited can’t wait to see what is inside.

I should also note that this month again there was no product card. So an FYI you should keep last months card handy to remember where to get your card. I mistakenly thought that it was on my Glymm profile and after looking for almost half an hour I went in search of last months contents and found the card.

The first item I pulled out was a product I have never heard of before called Social Butterfly Hair Perfume. It freshens up your hair. It smells really good. I wasn’t sure what it was at first but when I looked online its vanilla infused. I can see me using this especially in the summer. The full size is 50ml for $34 and the sample is 8ml for $5.44 and it says I should get about 50 sprays out of the sample.

Another new to me item is K-Pak Revitaluxe. This is suppose to restore and hydrate dry and damage hair. It smells really good  and I can see over the course of the summer using this alot. The full size is 150ml for $25 and I got a sample size of 50ml for $8.33. They said I should get 3 uses of this but I am possibly thinking you could get more then that.

When I was looking at the products online they said that this Dirt was suppose to be a sugar scrub but I got a salt scrub. So not sure if its the same thing or not. This is another new to me product. This is suppose to exfoliate your skin and give it a glow.

As you can see its all natural ingredients which I love. The full size is 12oz for $45 and I got 0.05oz for $1.90 This smells really good and I am excited to use it. There is only about two uses in this so I am curious to see how it will work.

I wasn’t sure what to make of this when I saw this in my bag. This is a new to me item and at first glance its from a sunscreen company. Its from Cyberderm a Canadian company. When I checked it out I found out that one tube is H2O Hydration (50ml for $125) and the other tube is PM Anti-Age. (50ml for $125). I have to say its very interesting packaging. You are suppose to get 10 uses from both of these. I am thinking there is about 5ml per tube $12.50 (give or take)

Also included was a little coupon for 25% off all nail polish on Glymm.

So this is what I got in my glymm bag this month. As you can see that it did pay for itself and this month is all new to me products that I am excited to try.

What did you get this month? What did you like? Didn’t like?

(Meme) Sundays In Bed With……….#6

This is my sixth time taking part in Sundays In Bed With…. and I’m on a roll. Yea me LOL

The awesome blogger behind this is Kate from Midnight Book Girl   not only is she an awesome blogger but she is was one of my roommates for BEA. YAY!!

Sundays In Bed With….is a meme I’ve started to share the book we’re spending the morning in bed with, or the one we’d like to stay curled up in bed with all Sunday if only our busy lives would allow! For fun, take a picture of the book in your bed, or simply write up a post or comment below sharing your Sundays in Bed With book. Quoted from Kate’s blog

I decided this morning (well actually last night before bed) that I was going to dip into my BEA bookcase (the bookcase I have for BEA is shelved by pub date) and I picked up this to read:

This sounds like a fun middle grade book. I am super excited to read it.
What are you reading this Sunday?

Hope everyone had a good Sunday and that you managed to curl up with a book today. Thanks Kate for hosting this fantastic meme.

Topbox July Edition

Today (Friday) I got my July Topbox. I was pleasantly surprised when I got my tracking info saying that my box was shipped and to expected it technically yesterday. (In case this confuses you, Topbox has asked that all reviews be held off until today, Wednesday.)

Now this is where I get a little confused because when ever I get the tracking info for Topbox I usually get it when they say I am going to get it unlike the other boxes I subscribe to and get each month. I have noticed that I never get tracking info until the box has been picked up by Canada Post unlike the other boxes which lately I have been finding annoying.

Anyways onto my topbox for July. I have opted to receive this style of box each month instead of the recyclable one. I just prefer this one much more since its decorative and looks nice sitting on top of shelf or on a dresser.

As I was opening the box I noticed that it was fairly light compared to past boxes and seeing as I was one of the first to get their box I had no idea what was in the box or rather tube.

This was going to be the element of surprise. I was excited to see what was in this months box.

Peeking in you can see there isn’t much inside. No full size products oh no this can’t be good, right?

So slowly I started to pull the cards out because for me I love reading them before seeing the products.

I know there are some who don’t like doing that until after its unboxed but to each their own right?

The first thing I pull out is something that is new to me, its called Pure + Simple. Its a calming cucumber mask. Its an all natural skin calmer. It includes all natural ingredients.

The full size is 50ml for $25.25 and the sample I got was 20ml for $10.10. (Isn’t that just weird?)

It comes out really nice and its a gel. I noticed a slight smell to it and the only thing that I don’t really like is that there is no instructions on how to use this product and had to go to the website to find out how to use this.

This is a product that I have had in a previous box and its the NuMe Hydro punch hydrating shampoo.

The full size is 250ml for $24.99 and I got 20ml for $2.00

I know I have said this numerous times and I wish that these beauty boxes would send out a conditioner to go with it so that you get the full effect of the product.
Along with the shampoo NuMe also included a $100 gift certificate to use online for styling tools or hair extensions. I am actually thinking of using that for hair extensions because in a previous box I had gotten the hair extensions to try and just before going to BEA I went and had them put in and I loved them, granted it took some time to get use them but I like being able to add a pop of color to my hair without the commitment of dye.

Another item that was new to me was the Sampar Essentials ultra hydrating fluid.  Its a moisturizer for all ages and skin types.

I currently don’t know what it looks like or what it smells like because they came in those little foil packs and from the looks of it its just a one day use which is a bummer since you would like to try the product out a few times before judging it.

The full size is 50ml for $80 and from the looks of the packs I am thinking about 1ml for each pack so that would be roughly $3.20 for both.

The final product is China Glaze and I am excited to try this brand of nail polish since I have been hearing people rave about it. I have looked at the stores around me and can’t seem to find any but just noticed on the card it says available in salons so that would be why I haven’t found it.

This is a full size product 14ml for $10 to $12.

They said on the card this is a personalized shade but when I put it on its very bright. Very neon. Its the color of the pink highlighters is the best I can describe it.

I just a little swatch on my nail and I have to say that this is a shade I would wear on my nails perhaps toe nails but not finger nails as its just too bright and note really age appropriate for me.

The shade I got was Pink Voltage. I would be curious to find out what other shades were mailed out to the other Topboxers.

Please let me know if you get topbox and what color you got.

So for this month I have to say that this hasn’t been a favorite box of mine from topbox but as of right now its still the cheapest box at $10 a month.

I have no plans to cancel my subscription yet since this is one of the reliable boxes out there. It promises a beginning of the month delivery and nothing has delayed them yet and since its summer and things are a little slow and quiet that Topbox does deserve to have an off month.

I am almost finished this:

I borrowed this from the library on Friday while Michael was doing an activity at the library. I forgot to bring the book I was reading so I was looking around and noticed that this was a new release title so while he was going his activity I started to read this and before you know it  I had already read ten chapters so of course I had to borrow the book to finish reading.

I am really enjoying this. Has anyone else read this?
What are you reading this Sunday?

Hope everyone had a good Sunday and that you managed to curl up with a book today. Thanks Kate for hosting this fantastic meme.

Bath and Body Works haul

Over the course of my blogging years (almost 4 years now) I have slowly revealed some personal stuff about me in various posts. As you know I am an avid reader and I love books, as you probably can tell from my weekly book hauls. I honestly can’t go into a book store to browse because I feel guilty about leaving a book behind, silly I know.

You probably came to realize that I love make up and all kinds of beauty products hence my unboxings of Topbox, Glymm, LooseButtons and Glossyboxes posts I have been doing that last few months.

So hence this post. The other night I was at the huge mall near my house because I went looking for new glasses. I am in need of a new pair because lately I have been having problems with my eyes. I think I might need new glasses because I have noticed the onset of headaches and squinting. Which we all know is not a good sign.

I have an appointment next week for an eye test for myself and Michael. So while we were at the mall I noticed that Bath & Body Works was having a huge sale so I decided to finally go in and check it out. This is honestly the first time I have stepped into the store. The reason I don’t go very often is because over the past few years I have found the mall to be getting very gouchy for my taste, meaning alot of high named brands coming in and here is where I admit I hate spending alot of money on clothes.

Anyways back to Bath & Body Works. I was in total awe of the place. They had all kinds of lotions, shower gels, candles (another favorite of mine and if I bring home anymore candles I will be shot on the spot LOL) and fragrances. I was in heaven. They had an amazing sale going on and I couldn’t help but spend a little money on me.

The mini shower gels (88ml) were 3 for $5. That is a great price considering that separately they sell for $5.50 each. So with that kind of deal I picked up:
  • be enchanted
  • Sea Island Cotton (a perfect summer smell that I plan on keeping to use in the winter when I want and need the summer smell)
  • Country  Chic
  • Japanese Cherry Blossom
  • Sweet Pea
  • Secret Wonderland
These are a perfect size for traveling and your not having to worry about lugging around a bigger bottle.
The also had lotions (88ml) on sale  for 3 for $10 and this also was a pretty good deal considering they would sell for $5.50 as well. I picked up:
  • Sea Island Cotton
  • Cherry Blossom
  • Japanese Cherry Blossom
They all smell really good and perfect summer scents. Plus they are small enough to throw in your purse.

Also on sale was the 295ml of shower gel. I was a little more selective on this since it was a bigger bottle and if you don’t like it you worry about having to get rid of it so I really loved the smell of the following so I grabbed one of each since they were on sale for $4.

  • Country Apple
  • Cherry Blossom

I am a huge fan of the fruity smells. I was looking around for a strawberry one and couldn’t seem to find out but I will go back and check and hopefully the store will be a little quieter then it was when I went.

Plus there is still an awesome sale going on that I would love to take advantage of while its there to grab some bottles of  hand soaps are $3 a bottle and hand sanitizers are 5 for $5 and we go through alot of these.

Oh no this could be deadly. Wish me luck

Glossybox June Edition

I think this has been the first time since subscribing to Glossybox that my box has been late. I usually get it before the end of the month.

When my Glossybox for June arrived today I was apprehensive about the box because I peeked at some spoilers from other bloggers and I was kind of worried and I will explain why later in this post.

Thankfully when I  got the box I noticed right away that it was a heavy box like it usually is. I have noticed that Glossybox is one of the few Canadian Beauty box subscription services that actually has been very consistent with their boxes. They boxes are  jammed pack and you are almost guaranteed to have a full size product or two.

Another thing, Glossybox is still using their standard box which is sort of like a pale pink with a simple stamp on the box. Making the box practical and reusable. Underneath the wrapped tissue paper (being held closed with a hand tied box in a dusty rose ribbon.) is the black envelope (which can be reused again since they aren’t marked on or sealed). Inside the envelope was the cards and since I live in Quebec they are required to mail them out in both English and French (which I think is a waste of paper and I think it should be specified in our profile and they could just send out what language we specify, just a thought). The cards were advertising for Neutrogena sunscreen and for Wella plus the product list for what is in your box.

The first item I noticed right away is the Gillette Venus Embrace Razor. As you can see this is a full size product and a kit cost $13.43. (The kit includes the razor, 2 cartridges and a shower pod)

I actually like this and I have gotten alot of razors lately in the mail. Which always come in handy. Plus at the price point that these razors are in its always great to get a free one and if you like it you can buy the refills for it.

The next item I spotted was the Biore Combination skin balancing cleanser. This is a full size product $9.99 for 200ml.

I recently got this when I attended the Glossybox event here in Montreal and I have been using that so having another bottle is really nice. I am liking this on my face and I have noticed that it really does clean my face.

When I started to look for new cleansers I was eyeing this one but then I was told another brand was just as good for a little cheaper so I went with that but since getting this I am liking it alot.

A new to me product is Wella Professionals Ocean Spiritz. The purpose of this is to give your hair that beach look. I have heard and used some of the Wella products I have gotten recently and really like them.

This is another full size product and it sells for $16.99 for 150ml.

I haven’t used this yet but I do like the smell of this. I can’t wait to try this out very soon.

When I heard we were getting the Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex I have to say that I kind of rolled my eyes because if you only knew how many little tubes I have gotten in the last few months you would understand.  50ml sells for $30.99 and I got a sample of 7ml for $4.34

Another small sample I got was the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 55. I recently got this sample from Neutrogena and I really like it. Its small enough to put in your purse and not worry about lugging a bigger bottle around for  those quick little emergencies when you are out and forget sunscreen. The full size is 88ml for $15.99 and I got a sample of 14ml for $2.54

This Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strip was the bonus item this month. I have used this item in the past and noticed a difference after using ths strips. The full size is a box of 8 strips for $9.99 and I got one strip for $1.25.

This was the item that I was worried about. Its Cover Girl’s Flipstick-Blendable lip dou. This is brand new to the Cover Girl line and as you can see its double ended. One side is a shimmer and the other is a lipstick. So you can wear them on its own or blend them. This is a great product to throw in your make up bag. I have seen in sneak peeks that some bloggers got a shade called Minx and it was a dark brown with a gold shimmer. I was honestly worried that I would get that same shade but thankfully it appears as though someone was reading my profile because I got Whisper/murmure (800) which is more my color. This is a full size product and it retails for $12.50 for 3.8g

So the total value of the box is $61.04 which I think is a pretty good deal considering I paid $15 for the box.

About the box:

Try new, niche beauty brands as well as timeless classics.
  • Receive a GLOSSYBOX every month filled with 5 high-end beauty samples (and a surprise 6th item could show up in your box at any time!).
  • $15 per month (taxes and shipping included, of course!).

    (Product Review) MailaTale

The newest trend lately seems to be a product subscription service. If you are a reader of my blog you know that I am into these subscription service with boxes coming from Topbox, Glossybox, Glymm and Loose Buttons providing  me beauty products and samples for a monthly fee. Which I throughly enjoy. Its like Christmas monthly.

So if we can have beauty products subscription services why can’t we have a monthly book subscription service? Well guess what? A Canadian company called Mail a Tale has come up with this fantastic idea.

They currently only offer books from birth to 10 years old. They offer award winners, classics, new releases, front list titles and back list titles.

I was so thrilled when I got the chance to review this company and the products. I was so excited when I got the package last week and even Michael was thrilled when he found out that the box was actually for him. (I meant to include this in my The Mailbox Post and totally forgot about it.)
I’m not sure if that label changes on the boxes monthly or if its always on the box but I love that quote

If you are a dreamer…come in. (Shel Silverstein)

The box was well packaged and we were excited and curious to find out what books they sent us. The beauty of this subscription service is you have no idea what they are going to send and its  based on the profile you create when you join the site.

When we opened the box we could see that it was well packed and everything was in place. Nothing was damaged.

The theme for June was Fairly Tales Old & New. Hmm sounds interesting doesn’t it?

Before looking at the books we read the card that is sent with each monthly shipment. Even though its a printed card that everyone gets they do personalize the card with a “Hi Michael” and the books they picked for him.

The books we got in the June shipment was:

-The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart (This is the first book in the series)(paperback)
    -Windblowne by Stephen Messer (paperback)
-The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a ship of her own Making by Catherynne M. Valente (hardcover)

I was really excited to get The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a ship of her own making because that has been on my wishlist since it came out.

I was really impressed with the books we got and happy to discover that its books we didn’t already have in our own personal library.

I think this would make a great gift idea if you are looking for something to get a child who loves to read or if you live in a area that you might not have access to a bookstore. I was really pleased with the service I got and the books.

Here is some info about the subscription service:

    Mailatale Book Box: ( $28.95/month)

    • Full retail value in books (about 2-3 titles)

I would love to send out a huge thank you to the staff at Mailatale for sending me this to review and for the great books you picked out for us.
