Beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with an unforgettable love story between a writer and his unexpected muse.

Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

Colleen Hoover has been one of those authors that I have always wanted to read and I am not quite sure why I didn’t pick up her books sooner. I know I have a few on my Kobo and Kindle app that I picked up along the way but for some reason I never read but after reading this I have to say that I will be digging into those ebooks to read.

I didn’t realize that when I picked up this book that I would be walk till all hours of the morning reading this and I read it pretty much in one sitting. I had such a hard time putting the book down. I was literally sucked into the book from the get go and even still I think about the book.

November 9 is a roller coaster of emotions and I should say you should have some tissues on hand just in case as I doscovered.

This is a standalone book so you don’t have to worry about reading her previous books.

The only thing I know about the book is that two people, Fallon and Ben meet each other every November 9 and that was all I wanted to know about the book. I didn’t want to know to much because I wanted to go into this not knowing anything else and I have to say I am happy that I didn’t know more.

Fallon was a child star who lost it all in a house fire that left her scared and no one wanting to work with her or touch her. For Fallon her career as an actress ended abruptly. Her father is also a actor and you can see they are completely like night and day and he comes off as a real jerk who discourages Fallon any chance he gets it seems like.

Enter Ben who is a college student and he is sitting behind Fallon and her dad and he hears their conversation and he feels for Fallon and he swoops in almost to save the day and pretends to be Fallons boyfriend and tells her dad a think or two to put him in his place.

Ben knows Fallon is moving to NYC so they make the best of the little time they have together. He lets Fallon know that he is a writer and that he thinks their story would make the perfect book. He thinks that documenting the next five years could be fun and the reason its five years is because of something Fallon’s mom had said and I think personally I love that idea because if its meant to be then it will be.

So with this arrangement of meeting on November 9 for the next five years they each give the other a little home work assignment to be completed before the next meet. They can’t communicate via texts, calls anything.

I have to say that I loved Ben because he looked past the scars Fallon had and he made it his mission to make her feel pretty and comfortable with herself and that she was pretty no matter what and at first I found it hard to believe because so many guys base things on girls appearances and nothing else matters.

It was sweet to see this relationship develop and how they managed to keep it going was amazing. I don’t think i could have done that once feelings started to develop. Could you?

I have to tread lightly because I know I am going to give away the book and I really think you should go and pick up a copy to read as soon as possible so that you can experience this feeling too.

With that I am just going to say that i felt like I was on a roller coaster reading this book, My feelings were all over the place but I have to say I am happy that I finally read this. I look forward to reading Colleen’s other books.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

For some reason I thought I had this post written but when I went back to check my blog I see that its not posted so I am putting it up now. Sorry about that.

Since Michael is on spring break this week I decided to take the week off. I prepped all last week to make sure I had enough post for the week and I did it. Have a great week everyone.

This weekend I finished off:

I had to see how this series ended because I really enjoyed it.
The next book I picked up was The Twitter Diaries. This is told in twitter format. This is also going to be a pretty quick and easy read. Another quick and easy read that I will be picking up next is:
That is book 7 in the Star Darlings series. This will be a quick read so then my next book will be:
I am pretty sure that will take me into next week.

Hope you have a good reading week.

February 2016 Book Unhauling

BookUnhauling

Good  Monday morning everyone. Its that time of the month where I show what books I am unhauling this month. I had so much success last year unhauling books that I thought I would continue this again for 2016.

I decided way back in  January (2015) that I wanted to document how many books I was giving away each month to see if I was making any kind of dent in my book collection.

I know last year I probably brought in more then I was actually giving away so this year I am trying to be cautious with my book buying and I am giving myself a budget each time I go shopping in hopes that it will curb my spending.

So each month I will be posting about what books I am unhauling and then another monthly post will be what books I physically bought in the month.

Are you a constant book buyer? Can you resist buying books on a weekly bases? Please tell me I am not alone in this?

This is what I am unhauling this month:

  1. Zodiac by Romina Russell (this is my very first DNF book. I got to chapter 12 and I just couldn’t continue. The story just wasn’t gripping me and I was strguggling to read it.)
  2. The Sweet Spot by Stephanie Evanovich
  3. Find Your Hero Chapter Sampler
  4. Those Girls by Lauren Saft
  5. Walking Diaster by Jamie McGuire (this was a DNF book)
  6. Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne
  7. Monument 14 Sky on Fire by Emmy Laybourne

Unless otherwise noted these are books I have read and I am passing them along to another book loving home.

So for February I am releasing  7  books this month.

Total for 2016 is 21
Total for 2015 is 211

If We Were Having Tea…#17

hotcoffee_2

If we were having tea… I would tell you that later today we will be playing our last game of the season. Its hard to believe that our regular season is over. Go Knights Go!

If we were having tea… I would tell you our team has made it to regionals. This is the first time in about two years that Michael’s team has made it that far. Hopefully we can advance farther then two games in that.

If we were having tea… I would tell you that we went bed shopping this weekend to get a new bed frame for Michael because it was something I had when I moved into my apartment 18 years ago. So it was time to upgrade him to his own.

If we were having tea... I would tell you that we had some really weird weather this week. It was cold at the beginning of the week and then we got freezing rain then rain mixed with mild temps and it made a mess of things.

If we were having tea… I would tell you that I am excited that Fuller House is finally on Netflix and I watched the first episode and really like.

If we were having tea… I would tell you we are looking forward to spring break happening this week. Its going to be a week of cleaning and getting rid of things

If we were having tea… I would tell you that it was great seeing you again this week and that I can’t wait until next week. I hope you have a good week.

Review/ Mira’s Diary Home Sweet Rome

As if traveling to a new country in search of her missing mother weren't difficult enough, Mira has to do it dressed as a boy. In a different century.
A new postcard from her time-traveling mother points Mira to the 16th century Rome. But before she can rescue her mom, she must follow the clues left around the city to find Giordano Bruno, a famous thinker and mathematician, who discovered something so shocking that important Italian officials don't want it revealed. All the while avoiding the Watchers--time-traveling police who want Mira back in her own time.
It's another whirlwind adventure for Mira, and this time she is determined to bring her mother out of the past.
Praise for Mira's Diary: Lost in Paris
"An engrossing, diary-style blend of history, mystery, and time travel."--Publishers Weekly
"With an engaging story, accessible history, and a spunky heroine, Mira's Diary is an absorbing, fast-pace adventure."--School Library Journal
"Mira's Diary: Lost in Paris is a passionate celebration of honor and integrity...fast paced and compelling."--Karen Cushman, Newberry Medal Winner and New York Times bestselling author

I received this book for free from publisher/pr firm in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

If your like me you probably have quite a few reviews that have been sitting in a draft pile on your computer just waiting to be posted. Well I decided that it was high time they came out of the draft pile and onto the blog.

This is my first one. Not quite sure why it was never posted but it was read.

This is the second book in the series and like the first one its filled with action, mystery and a little bite about history which I think is perfect for the middle grade kids. Not only are they reading a great story they are learning a little as well.

Mira knows she is just like her mother and that they both are time travelers. This is all new to Mira so she is trying to figure it all out will trying to avoid the danger of the Watchers.

Home Sweet Rome brings Mira Rome with her brother and father. Its when Mira touches a touchstone that she is whisked  to a 16th century Rome. It is there that she meets the famous artist Caravaggio as well as the thinker Giordano Bruno.

We all know that  Giordarno Bruno is a famous mathematician and philosopher but he had revolutionary ideas about the modern world and this was in direct contradiction to the Church during the Inquisition. Bruno said that the earth revolves around the sun and that all matter is compiled of the same small particles of life, it was there that Bruno was threatened to be burnt at the stake, and that the  Church would destroy his works and destroy his intents at allowing his ideas to be developed in the future. Mira is trying to help him but has to be careful that she doesn’t draw the attention of the Watchers who are set on destroying her plans.

Mira has to control her power but can she?

I don’t want to give too much away since this is book two in the series but I will tell you that its a fun and enjoyable read. I know I read this much faster then I should have.

The book is told in diary format with drawings throughout the book. I highly recommend reading Lost in Paris the first book to fully understand what is going on in the book but I do think you can read it as a stand alone.

There is a third book called Mira’s Diary: Bombs Over London

Meme/Waiting on Wednesday #46

waitingonwednesday

“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking The Spine and its spotlights upcoming books that we are eagerly waiting for. I plan on including upcoming releases and books that are already released.

This week I am featuring:

This is The Breakfast Club (the movie) getting a modern high stakes reboot of the movie told in four different points of views and how a night changes the group forever. I am a huge fan of The Breakfast Club so this had to be on my list.

Review/ Busy Bunny Days In The Town, On The Farm & At The Port

Review/ Busy Bunny Days In The Town, On The Farm & At The PortBusy Bunny Days by Britta Teckentrup

Join the Bunny Family for a busy day in their home town, on a fun-filled farm adventure, and at the port for an exciting outing in this seek-and-find book where there is always something to discover. From the time they wake up until the time they go to sleep, there is so much to see and do. Don't forget to keep an eye out for that pesky Benny Badger—he is always up to no good! With a fresh and adorable illustration style, and so many details on every page, this picture book begs to be read again and again.

What can I say about this picture book? We loved it. Its a beautiful picture book with fantastic illustrations. The illustrations are all bright and colorful in my opinion.

Upon looking at the book you instantly think Richard Scary and if this is anything like that then I know kids will love it just as much as we do.

Busy Bunny Days takes part in three different parts of the city such as in the town, on the farm and at the port at various parts of the day basically between a 6am to 9pm day. Which I thought was really cute.

Another thing I really enjoyed was that your child can basically tell the story because at the top of each page is a few questions and you have to answer them and I think you could get a different story each time or from different children.

Another great thing is that it shows the time so kids also get to learn about time of day. I love that this is a learning book as well.

There is many characters involved in the book but they all blend so well within the story line.
