Rowena Connor’s ex was a monster, and she’d do anything to protect her son from him. Including fake her death and sequester her son in another country. But somehow her ex figured it out. Now he’s kidnapped her son and wants her dead—for real this time.

US Marshal Ryan McCabe had to leave Rowena to save her. It gutted him. But now she’s dropped into his life unexpectedly, on the run from the man McCabe has been hunting for years. He still burns for her, but it’s clear she definitely hasn’t gotten over what he did to her. Who can blame her? But her only hope to stay alive is to trust him, dark secrets and all.

About Jenna:

Jenna Ryan was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, but spent her childhood in several different areas of the country. She began creating stories before she could read. Growing up, romance alone had a strong appeal, but as it turned out, romantic suspense was the perfect fit. After all, what could be better than adding the darker elements of a mystery to a romantic relationship? And, oh, the fun of those secondary characters. Over the years, she has worked in several different industries, including modeling, interior design and travel, however, writing has always been her passion – even if she didn’t go about it in the usual way. She earned a degree in Creative Writing from the University of Victoria in British Columbia and currently lives in a semi-rural setting fifteen minutes from that city.

Can’t Wait Wednesday

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted here, at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.
If you’d like to join in, you can use the image above, the one below, or make your own. Please link back to Wishful Endings in your post and also add it to the linky widget posted each week so we all can come see what you’re excited about. If you’re continuing with the Waiting on Wednesday feature, feel free to link those up as well!
I am posting this a few days earlier because my Wednesday is booked this week.

Matchmaking For Beginners: A Novel

Marnie MacGraw wants an ordinary life—a husband, kids, and a minivan in the suburbs. Now that she’s marrying the man of her dreams, she’s sure this is the life she’ll get. Then Marnie meets Blix Holliday, her fiancé’s irascible matchmaking great-aunt who’s dying, and everything changes—just as Blix told her it would.

When her marriage ends after two miserable weeks, Marnie is understandably shocked. She’s even more astonished to find that she’s inherited Blix’s Brooklyn brownstone along with all of Blix’s unfinished “projects”: the heartbroken, oddball friends and neighbors running from happiness. Marnie doesn’t believe she’s anything special, but Blix somehow knew she was the perfect person to follow in her matchmaker footsteps.

And Blix was also right about some things Marnie must learn the hard way: love is hard to recognize, and the ones who push love away often are the ones who need it most.

Sunday’s In Bed With

This is being hosted by two of the sweetest people I have the privilege of knowing in real life, Kate and Kim. Sadly we don’t talk like we use to because you know real life happens but there is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of them both.

Good Morning Everyone. I hope everyone had a good week. Its been a little crazy with prepping for school. Michael goes back on Thursday this week and starting grade 10. Where does the time go? He will be graduating in two years. How crazy is that?

Not sure what is planned for today but I am hoping that it will involve some reading.

This week I am currently reading:

An Unwanted GuestVox

An Unwanted Guest is a physical book and the Vox is a ebook.

Last week I read the following books for book tours I was on or will be on:

Counting on You (Amarillo Sour Book 1)

What are you reading this week?

Book Blitz/ A Shameless Little Con

A Shameless Little Con
Meli Raine
(Shameless #1)
Publication date: January 30th 2018
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense

I didn’t do it.

I never betrayed my friend.

Last year, I was kidnapped along with presidential candidate’s daughter Lindsay Bosworth, forced to help her assailants, my mother implicated in one of the biggest political scandals in American history.

I’ve been cleared of any wrongdoing, but that doesn’t matter. Once you’re tried by the media, you’re guilty as sin. The truth doesn’t get the public’s attention.

But shame? Shame sells.

And everyone assumes you’re tainted.

Now I have my own personal security team, courtesy of the United States government. Not the one you learned about in civics class, though.

I’m being tracked by the deep state. The shadow government. They’ve assigned Silas Gentian to be with me twenty-four seven. He thinks he knows everything about me – all of it bad — and he does.

On paper.

Like everyone else, he assumes I’m a traitor. A backstabber. A betrayer. Someone who helped a group of violent psychopaths, puppets of powerful men in Washington who made me into a tool.

Yet I see how he looks at me. True desire can’t be faked.

Or hidden.

And that goes both ways.

He assumes I’m trying to fool him.

And he might be right.

But not for the reasons he thinks.

A Shameless Little Con is the first book in the Shameless trilogy by USA Today bestselling author Meli Raine.

EXCERPT:

Life is about blending in now, an impossible task for someone who has more notoriety than Monica Lewinsky. Shame is a booming industry, one with capital and debt, profit and loss sheets, one that trades in the hard currency of humiliation and intrigue. My ringing phone would be a constant reminder of my ongoing debasement, so I turn it off. Pretend there is no sound.

Pretend in order to function, because if I let myself receive a notification every time someone mentioned me, I’d be buried in cacophony, shattered by so much noise I would dissipate, particles of Jane Borokov in the air everyone breathes, and we can’t have that.

If I did that, I wouldn’t exist, and right now my best defense is just existing.

I’m innocent.

No one believes me.

And as time passes, I see that what people actually believe doesn’t matter.

It’s what you can manipulate them into feeling that counts. Media reports about my so-called heinous actions last year are all about stoking the furious fire of public anger. Get them outraged. Get them frothing. Pitchforks and torches are so twentieth century.

Now you tar and feather people with a Share button and a Like. It’s so easy. Read the words, feel something, then tap. Click.

Move on to the next scandal.

It’s all part of your life, right?

Until you are the shame sacrifice of the day. Week. Month.

Year.

We’re trained to seek high rewards, but the internet lets us do it with low effort. Got to get that dopamine fix somewhere, right?

“Jane.”

I start, spilling a bit of the crema from my latte on my hand. The perfect heart at the center of the foamy milk on the surface of my coffee turns into a mangled, jagged mess.

“Jesus! You scared me.” I keep my voice to a low hiss, mortified by all of the layers this interruption is breaching. I refuse to look at him, because if I look at Silas Gentian, my newly assigned bodyguard and babysitter, I’ll see disgust.

And while I’ve gotten used to it from everyone else, I still can’t stomach seeing it reflected back at me from him.

Review/ Forensics Squad: Unleashed

Review/ Forensics Squad: UnleashedForensics Squad Unleashed by Monique Polak
Published by Orca Book Publishers on March 28, 2016

Goodreads

Tabitha is thrilled to be attending a summer forensics camp, even if she has to go with her sort-of friend Mason. Soon she is learning to dust for fingerprints, photograph a crime scene and take footprint impressions. Even though the camp instructors have set up a "crime" for the kids to solve, Tabitha longs to use her newfound skills to solve a real-life mystery. She's pretty sure a dognapping ring is active in her Montreal neighborhood, and when her beloved dog, Roxie, is stolen, she convinces her forensics "team" to help her find Roxie and nab the 'nappers.

A story unravelling in my own home town of Montreal…on streets that I have walked…at a university that I know…about learning how to become a detective (my dream since reading Nancy Drew) … how can one go wrong by reading “Forensics Squad: Unleashed” by Monique Polak?

Leave out the fact that Monique is a GREAT Montrealer, fantastic teacher (my former professor from college), novelist, journalist, etcetera, etcetera, this is a fun and engaging book for anyone who loves a good mystery.

Tabitha had no clue that once attending a summer forensics camp, she would be putting her wits to the test, not only in the classroom but in real life as well.  When her dog goes missing, Tabitha and her classmates decide to take matters into their own hands.  They quickly realize that a classroom scenario is much safer than in real life.

Filled with real life teenage quirks that Monique captures so well in her writing, this story takes you on a journey between classroom forensics and the real world.  I couldn’t put the book down and I can’t wait to read another one.  So, Monique, when is the next one coming out?

One woman on the run. Four dangerously sexy bodyguards. And a war brewing that will change the shifter world forever…

I’m living on borrowed time, fighting for survival against a deadly new virus that has no cure and a cult doing its best to brainwash me. But when a mysterious note shows up on my windowsill one night, its chilling message–Run, Wren–launches me out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Within hours, everything I thought I knew about my life, my family, and my origins is obliterated, and I’m racking up enemies at an alarming rate. Between the cult I’ve just escaped, a violent shifter faction out for my blood, and an ancient evil who eats “chosen ones” like me for breakfast, my last hope is to join forces with four dangerous-looking men who claim they were sent to guard my life.

Luke, a werewolf with a rap sheet. Creedence, a lynx shifter who never met a mark he couldn’t con. Kite, a bear kin with a mean right hook and heart of gold. And Dust, my childhood best friend and dude voted least likely to be a secret shape-shifting griffin.

But are these men really what they seem?

Or are my alpha guardians hiding a secret agenda of their own?

I’m not sure, but one thing is for certain—choosing the right allies will mean the difference between life and death. For me, and everyone I love.

UNLEASHED is book one in the Dark Moon Shifter’s series. It is a true reverse harem featuring one woman and her four mates.

Before beginning my review I quickly have to thank Rockstar Book Tour for allowing me to be a part of the book tour and for sending me a eArc of the book to read for my review today.

Unleashed is the first book in the upcoming Dark Moon Shifter’s series by Bella Jacob and I do believe that this is a debut novel, please correct me if I am wrong.  I have to say that I am really excited to continue this series.

As you know from reading my blog I don’t read a lot of urban fantasy books with the exception here and there and I honestly don’t know why I don’t read more of it because what I read I really enjoy.

As I mentioned above I really enjoyed Unleashed. It hooked me in right away and had me hanging on the whole ride. I had a hard time to put the book down when I had to put it down and if I was 20 years younger I would have stayed up all night to finish it but sadly I didn’t as sleep is just a little bit more important but once I woke up I picked it up again and managed to read this in basically two sittings.

I have only read one other author we writes shifter books and Unleashed is completely different in a good way. I really wanted to know why Wren has four mates when most shifter books only has the one.

Unleashed is going to leave you feeling all kinds of feelings so be prepared for this wild ride. It starts in the first chapter and continues all the way through to the very end.

We quickly realize that Wren is dying with a terminal illness and you are instantly drawn to her not only because of her illness but because she is actually one of the good guys. She is caring and compassionate, she is a woman who loves what she does and her family. Things are changing in the world and its not for good. Wren has been sick since she was born. She has the same illness that took her sister. She is on all sorts of medication basically to prolong this disease. Then out of the blue she founds out she is a candidate for a new procedure that basically can save her life but before she can begin she is kidnapped.

Who has taken her and why?

This is where I am going to say if you want to know more then go and get the book, You will not be disappointed. I know if I sit here longer I will tell you all about the book and I don’t want to spoil it for you. Trust me I don’t think you will be disappointed.
