Chock-full of fab tips, from the history of deviled eggs to collecting vintage plateware, this book will definitely “egg you on” to head to the kitchen and get crackin’!

A classy little guide to a classy little dish, D’Lish Deviled Eggs will open up a whole new world of ways to jazz up these one-bite wonders!

I have to be up front and honest with this review. I got this cook book for review earlier this year and I was hoping that I would have found someone who could have reviewed this for me to be give an honest review.

I have never eaten a deviled egg before and sadly I can’t because of an allergy I have with eggs.

So there won’t be a what I made with the cookbook but rather my thoughts about the book.

There is 50 recipes included in this book. The recipes are all easy to follow and they are accompanied by a beautiful photograph. I love seeing photos what go with the recipes because you get an idea of what the product looks like.

In the beginning of the book they give you hints on what kind of deviled egg you can make for specific holidays. Which is nice if you like making deviled eggs and you can make them anytime of the year and not just at parties.

I thought the section called The hard Facts was really interesting because it talks about everything you need to know about eggs. Such as :

  • to make eggs easy for peeling of hard cooked eggs you should let them refrigerate for seven to ten days because this will allow the eggs to take in some air which will seperate the membrane from the shell
  • if you store your eggs with the small end up or on their sides over night you will get a yolk that is centered

Through out the book you will discover little tips that will aid with the recipe.

So if you love deviled eggs this would make a great cook book to add to your collection.

Do you like deviled eggs?

Star Looks February Edition

This month Star Looks is a little different because it was curated by a professional make up artist named Lauren Clark. The box is very pretty as its pink and purple. Two of my favorite colors. They go so well with this months theme.

I think the product card is so pretty as they usually are each month. I tend to keep the cards and use them as bookmarks.

The first item I took out of the box  is this Barbie Fluid Blush. Its a very pretty pink shade. A little goes a long way like I found out. This is a full size item (like every item in every box is) and it sells for $15

Isn’t this pretty? Its Princess Diaries Eye Liner. Its water proof and smudge proof.  What I love about this is that you can use it as an eye liner (top or bottom) and also as an eye shadow. Its described as a pearlescent baby pink. This sales for $15 (above pic is in light)

this is in a darker light

I believe the next item is a bonus item as I don’t seem to find it on the product card.

Its a lip liner in the shade Tipsy.  Its a very creamy and smooth lip liner. You can actually use this as lip liner as well as an all over lip cover. Which I have been doing since I got the same shade in my birthday box. I am thrilled to have a back up now. This sells for $8

Finally the last item is the Pink Oasis Lip Gloss. I kind of chuckle at the name since its not pink but a lavendar color. It goes on sheer with some sparkle (as you can kind of see in the picture). I love the versatitly of this because you can use it alone or on top of a lipstick to add some shine and sparkle to it. I love the smell and feel of this on my lips. This sells for $11

So that is my February Star Looks box and the brochure in the back talks about Lauren Clark and tips on how to use the make up she selected. As you probably can tell I am very happy with my box this month.

The total value is $50. and it always pays for itself. I love that each and every item is full size and that its colors that I wouldn’t pick for myself which makes it a great way to step out of your comfort zone.

What do you think? Would you use anything from this box?

MEME/ Sunday’s In Bed With…..#39

The awesome blogger behind this is Kate from Midnight Book Girl   not only is she an awesome blogger but she is was one of my roommates for BEA. YAY!!

Midnight Book Girl

Sundays In Bed With….is a meme I’ve started to share the book we’re spending the morning in bed with, or the one we’d like to stay curled up in bed with all Sunday if only our busy lives would allow! For fun, take a picture of the book in your bed, or simply write up a post or comment below sharing your Sundays in Bed With book. Quoted from Kate’s blog.

I am extremely late in posting this (actually back posting this). As you can see the blog was a little neglected this past week or so (there will be alot of back posting happening this week). Its spring break here for the kids so Michael and I have been chilling and taking it easy.

I didn’t get to spend the morning in bed reading because we went to church. Trying to get caught up again since we missed so much due to hockey.

If I was able to stay home to read this is what I would be reading:

I am really enjoying the book. Hopefully I will finish it and have a review up  this week.

What are you reading today?

Season’s Box February Edition

I finally got my February Season’s Box. It was late in coming this time as I normally get it with in the box month.

I already knew what was in the box because as subscribers we get an email telling us what will be in the box for that month. I honestly don’t mind because they are always great products in the box.

I love the product cards we get with the box. They are always different and unique. You can see why this box is special. On the flip side to the card is the product detail and why they love the item. This is something I love because nothing screams “purchase me” more then that. I always take recommendations when I see or read them.

The first item I pulled out of the box is these Kala Naturals Bamboo Facial Cleansing Clothes. For some reason I feel as though I have tried these in the past from another beauty box but I am not 100% sure. I really like the idea behind these clothes because they are filled with  vitamins, organic honey, sunflower and citrus oils which are all great ingredients for your skin. Plus they cleanse, tone and remove your make up.

The clothes are also sulfate, paraben, alcohol and fragrance free. Which I love and what is also great is not only are the wipes biodegradable but you can either recycle or reuse the container. Which I will do.

The next item I pulled out of the box right away is this Bambu Earth Sugar Cookie Body Glow. I think this by far has to be my favorite item in the box this month. It smells delicious and smells just like sugar cookies. Yum. I am sure this will be something I would repurchase again.

I am new Rose Water and I had no clue about this or what it could do for you skin. This smells so good and just like roses. Its crafted from the distillation of premium organic Bulgarian rose petals and infused with rare organic rose essential oil.

Its great for improving complexion, reducing redness and for setting your make up. Plus the smell will instantly uplift your mood. I actually sprayed this and its so calming its like stopping to smell the flowers.

Finally the last item is from a local company here in Montreal. Its Galerie Au Chocolat Fair Trade Bar. The company was founded here in 1985 by a Canadian Chocolatier and its now evolved into one of North America’s best source for gourmet chocolate.

I love the simple packaging of this bar. I have had these bars in the past and they are always fantastic. It says its a maple crunch bar but honestly I don’t taste any maple just a crunch with a milk chocolate. Its delicious and I wanted to eat it all in one sitting but I was good and shared it.

So that is the box for February. Its definitely worth the price I paid for it because I love everything and its always full sized items you get. This will be one subscription I end up keeping because I love what they send and you can see they are sending out items that they love and use which is nice because so many boxes put together boxes with no rhyme or reason.

What do you think of the box? Which would you say interests you the most?

Nails By Tanya (February Edition)

I am thrilled to have Tanya back to do another monthly nail look. She does some pretty awesome nail looks.

I was thinking of doing this as a weekly feature but I think for now I might do a monthly wrap up. February went by in a complete blurr so I wasn’t able to do it as a weekly feature and I am thinking March might also be fairly busy. What do you guys think?

This was Tanya’s first NOTW (nail of the week) picture. She used Julep polish in the shade Nora, seche vite top coat and BL matte top coat. I love how you can see the difference in the two with the design. Very nice.

The second look was for Tanya’s grad pictures and its a very nice neutral look which I think is perfect for graduation photos. Congrats Tanya.

This was in honor of Valentine’s day.

This is another Valentine’s day look as well. Alot of work went into this.

This reminds me of an Easter Egg. Very nice. Tanya used China Glaze Secret Periwinkle and Bling It On.

Do you know what the favorite of the month was? If you guess the one below you would be right. I actually like them both. Its nice to see the same look done differently.

Here is how you can get the same look:

What you will need:
– base coat (I use Pro-Fx from walmart)
– Dark grey polish (sally hansen – grey area)
– Black polish (OPI – I only date werewolves)
– White polish (OPI – Mummy knows best)
– light purple polish (or any light background color) (Julep – Renee)
– rhinestones or silver glitter
– gold polish
– striping tape

Directions:

1. Start by applying your basecoat and 2 layers of your outline colors. Let them dry completely.

2. Apply striping tape to form the borders of the quilted pattern.

3. Apply top color to 1 nail and remove the tape immediately after. This will give you nice lines and a 3D effect. Continue for all fingers.

4. Apply rhinestones or silver glitter to the intersecting parts of the pattern. This is optional.

5. I have a stamping plate from a seller on Etsy with the Chanel logo on it. I stamped it on with a yellow polish (Butter London – Cheeky Chops) and then outlined with a gold glitter polish (China Glaze – I’m not lion). You can also hand draw the logo with any polish and dotting tool.

6. Apply a regular or matte top coat depending on the effect you want.

What did you think? What was your favorite of the month?

Tanya thanks so much for stopping by and sharing this with us. I can’t wait to see what March will bring.

The Natural Beauty Box February Edition

This has been a good mail week for me (as you probably can tell already) and I was happy that one of the packages I got this week was The Natural Beauty Box. One of the things I like about this subscription is the lack of spoilers so I had no idea what I was going to get.

Sadly this is going to be my last TNBB unboxing posts because I have decided not to continue with my subscription. They have increased the price of the sunscription to $29.95 + tax and that is just a little too much for me to spend and honestly after seeing this months box I am happy with my decision.

The box is super cute in my opinion and I really like the polka dots and its very spring like. As with every box you get an invoice and since I had over paid back in 2012 this one was still at the regular price of $21.00 but I wonder if you were billed the new price would this box justify it?

Yes the box did pay for itself for me but I think this has been the lowest I have seen it value wise.

Inside the box this month was:

  • Selma Valentine Whipped Body Butter. This smelled really nice. I got a sample of 30ml (1oz) and its worth $3.00 and the full size is 10oz for $16.00
  • Jadience Herbal Formulas Purifying Toner (foil sample) I have never heard of this before but curious to try it. Its a sample of 0.06 fl oz and its woth $1.50. The full size is 4 oz for $19.
  • Another foil sample and its Tao of Man a 3-in -1 daily skin defence. The sample is 0.14fl oz for $2.50 and the full size is 3.3oz for $30.
  • Scentuals Body Care. This was an 100% natual soap. I didn’t really like the smell of the soap . The sample was 1oz for $2 and the full size is 100grams for $5.50
  • Overall Beauty Minerals sent a mineral eye shadow. This had to have the cutest packaging of the box. it came in a wax paper kind of package. The shade I got was mink. It seems like a nice shade/ The sample is worth $3.30 for 3grams and the full size is $5.50 for 5grams
  • Beauty Without cruelty hand and body lotion. The sample was 2oz for $3.50. I don’t have the full size cost or size. I like that this is cruelty free and vegan. The only think I thought it smelled like a mild version of Noxema. I could be mistaken but that is what I thought of.
  • Just Pure Minerals sent a sun kissed bronzer sample. Its a dark shade and its worth $2.00 I don’t have a full size or cost since none was provided. Not sure what size the sample is either
  • KYNK Naturals African Black Soap. This is something I am not sure I will use based on the scent. Not sure what the sample and full size are worth.
  • Pharmacopia Verbena Every day bar Soap. I actually like the smell of this and I think it will get used. The sample is 1.5oz for $2.50 and the full size is 4oz for $5.20.
  • Finally the last item is from Wine Delights which I have gotten in previous boxes. This time they sent Beer Natural Nourishing & Extra hydrating Shampoo. It smells really good the only problem I see is that its very liquidity. So I am sure alot more will be used then needed. The sample size is 1oz for $6.50 and thef ull size is 16oz for $26. I wonder if the full size is as liquidity as the sample.

So as you can see I got 10 items worth $40.80

There are a few items I am excited to try and some that I probably won’t use but I guess that can be expected right?

What interests you?

Glossy Box February Edition

Happy Birthday Glossybox.

Glossybox is celebrating their very first Canadian birthday. Its hard to believe that I have been with Glossybox for an entire year. This is the only subscription that I have remained true to.

This month they changed the box in honor of their birthday and it came in a black box with a beautiful hot pink box on the lid. Doesn’t that look pretty?

Inside the box you see they used black tisseue paper with the hot pink ribbon which I think is very nice. They even redid the sticker to match the box.

I was so thrilled to open this box even though I saw some spoilers. Please note that this is an unboxing post and I purchased this box, This month I ended up redeeming my glossy dots for the box.

As you can see the lid of the box matches the sticker and hot pink crinkle paper inside to hold it all in place. There is a few goodies that I am super excited to try out.

This month there was another golden ticket opportunity and you had the chance to win a sassy pair of ruffle undies from Globlove sadly I didn’t win but I got a coupon for 25% off my order. I won’t be using the coupon because they don’t have anything in my size so if anyone is interested in it pleae let me know and I will tell you what the code is.

Lets get into the box shall we:

I am super excited to try these it because two of the items are new to me and the other one is a brand I know and enjoy using.

~Anatomicals You Need a Blooming Shower! Your Nose Smells Rose Body Cleanser. This smells so good. Its rose and jasmine scented. I can’t wait to use this in the shower and honestly with it snowing once again I am longing for the spring scents so this will be great. Its a full size item. Its 150ml and its $3 (I really need to find out where to buy this since its so cheap)

~Macadamia Natural Oil, Healing Oil Treatment. I am excited to try this in my hair. This is another item that smells really good.  This is another full size item and its 30ml for $13.50

~Biore New Acne Cleansing Scrub. This is a new item from Biore and I am excited to try it out. This came at a good time because I have a slight break out starting and it will be great to see how it will work. This is another full size item and its 130g for $9.99

The following two pictures were bonus items.

I have been hearing great things about Eucerin so being able to sample this is great. I got two samples of the Hyal-urea anti-wrinkle day/night cream sachet duo. This is great for dry  and very dry tight facial skin. This is a new product and its fragrance free which I love. The samples 1.5ml each (x2) and the full size is 50ml for $18.50

~Crabtree & Evelyn Tarocco Orange Eucalyptus & Sage ultra moisturizing hand therapy sachet. I haven’t tried alot oof Crabtree & Evelyn products because there isn’t one close to me so being able to sample this is great. Apparently from reading the card we will eventually get a full size of this in an upcoming box. Oh I hope I really like this. The sample is 5g and the full size will be 25g for $8.00

This is an exclusive item to Glossybox its the cupcake kit. Which I think the liners are just too cute and I am almost tempted to make cupcakes or perhaps muffins with them.

Finally the last two items of the box. The first item is Givenchy Gloss Interfit No. 3 Coral Frenzy. I must have been lucky enough and had enough glossy dots to qualify for this and I am thrilled. I know I missed out on some glossy dots along the way but thrilled to have gotten this. The full size is  6ml for $30 and the sample is 3.5ml so half the size of the full size. Its got a nice smell and I actually like the look of this on me.

I was thrilled to have gotten this Essence  Quattro eyeshadow. This is full size (5g) and its $3.99. Its in the shade 02 chic-ify. I have been wanting to try Essence since I first spotted them a month ago in Shoppers Drug Mart in Ontario. This is affordable make up that seems to be only available in drug stores.

The Quattro’s shades are light pink, taupe, dark grey and silver. It will be fun to mix and match and play with the combinations that are available. The eye shadows are roughly the size of a quarter.

I am really happy with the box and what I got. I can’t wait to try everything out.

What do you think of the box? Did you get the same things?
