Pretend to be from Spain? Act like she can barely speak English? Sure, why not? It wouldn’t be the first time Gabby Vega had agreed to a challenge from her best friend, Kenzie. Besides, it’s only for a week of vacation with Kenzie’s cousins. Gabby will prove to Kenzie she can keep up the fake identity for the whole trip—that she’s not a quitter.

There’s just one major surprise. Noah Jernigan is also staying with Kenzie’s cousins. Noah, the boy she fell in love with at drama camp last summer and the boy she had to dump when it was over. The boy who knows who she really is.

Noah can’t believe it when Gabby appears at the Bryson’s vacation home in the New Mexico mountains. He hasn’t seen her in a year. It practically took that long just to get over her. And now she’s Gabriela from Spain? All he wants is to get as far away as he can. Or maybe the exact opposite. Stick as close to her as possible and find out what the heck happened last summer. And definitely get some payback.

Now Gabby has to keep Noah at arm’s length as she pretends to be Gabriela. She doesn’t want to answer his questions or rehash last summer. Because one thing is clear—the more time she spends with Noah, the more she’s in danger of falling for him all over again.

Seventeen-year-old Autumn Teslow arrives at her father’s job fair knowing she’ll never measure up to the perfect image of daddy’s little girl—her twin sister.

Wearing anger management issues like a second skin won’t help Autumn win her dad’s approval for the big trip she’s been planning—or meet his condition that she successfully complete a summer internship for college.

Autumn’s cool unravels when her sister lectures against disappointing the family again. And when a young, bearded guy steps through the crowd to settle the growing argument between siblings, Autumn lashes out, dubbing him a “Duck Dynasty wannabe.”

At Nineteen, Caden Behr is clueless as to why his man parts are threatened by the fearsome girl before him. He’d only come to find an intern for his recreational equipment company, not break up a girl-fight between two sisters.

Unfortunately, the only candidate left is the girl who just told him off. Without her, he’ll never prove to his CEO mother that he’s ready for more responsibility.

Autumn and Caden agree that if they can keep from killing one another, they can use one another to get what they want and then never have to see each other again. Which is what they want.

Until it isn’t.

Because despite her best efforts to scare him off, and his fading desire to push her into the lake, they’re beginning to enjoy the time they spend together. But pride is a hard habit to break. And if neither will admit their changing feelings, they could lose a whole lot more than one summer.

As a child, Julie’s summers were about horseback riding and fishing, while winter brought sledding and ice-skating on frozen ponds. Most of life was magical, but not all. She struggled with multiple learning disabilities, and spent much of her time gazing out windows and daydreaming. In the fourth grade (with the help of one very nice teacher) she fought dyslexia for her right to read and won.

Afterward, she invented stories where powerful heroines kicked bad-guy butt to win the hearts charismatic heroes. And then she wrote one down…

Writing ever since, Julie weaves southern gothic, contemporary, fantasy, and young adult romances. She enjoys sweeping tales of mystery and epic adventure… which must include a really hot guy. Her writing is proof a dream and some hard work can overcome any obstacle.

Once Upon a Time…

In the kingdom of Tranen, a king makes a promise to his dying wife that he’ll only remarry a woman who possesses her golden hair. In time, the king’s eyes are turned by his daughter. Realizing her father’s intentions, Princess Aurelia
tries to trick him by requesting impossible gifts: dresses created by the sun, moon and stars, and a coat made of a thousand furs. But when he is successful, Aurelia sacrifices her privileged life and flees her kingdom, disguised by the cloak and a new name, Allerleirauh.

She enters the safe haven of Saarland der Licht, where the handsome and gentle
Prince Klaus takes her under his care. Hoping not to be discovered by her
father’s courtiers, Allerleirauh tries to remain hidden under her new identity
when she finds unexpected love with Prince Klaus, even though his arranged
marriage to the princess of a neighboring kingdom approaches. Risking
everything, Allerleirauh must face her troubled past and her fears of the
future along her journey to self-acceptance in this triumphant retelling of the
classic Grimm Fairy Tale.
Excerpt:
“I won’t ever let them near you again, Aurelia. I swear it,” he promised
as his grief-filled eyes met mine. “You must know I love you. It never mattered
to me whether you were a princess or not. It matters not to me if you think you
are soiled, because to me . . . you are more . . . You are more than what has happened
to you, and you always shall be,” he said softly as his hand slid to my cheek.
Carefully, his thumb wiped a tear away. “You are this wonderful, head-strong,
and brave woman,” Klaus continued. “No one has any right to ever try to take
such a thing away from you. It should only ever be admired and cherished.”

More tears began to spill over my cheeks as relief flooded me. Klaus
would not turn me away; instead, he accepted me. I rested my forehead against
his shoulder, as I felt his arms slowly wrap around me.

“Tell me what you wish for me to do, my sweet Aurelia, and I will do it.”

I always thought cults were for crazies.

Until I joined one.

Let me clear up any misconceptions. I’m not crazy. A freak, but not crazy. Which is why I’m here. Freaks R Us. A boarding school for the intellectually gifted tucked away in the back streets of Wolfebane, New Hampshire.

Intellectually gifted? Yeah, right.

We have a pristine lake surrounded by majestic mountains. We have lush green fields that turn into fabulous groomed ski trails in the winter. We have upscale restaurants and thriving businesses and fancy homes—city pizzazz with small town coziness. We even have our very own homegrown C.U.L.T.

The Clique of Unique Luminary Telepathies.

When the average person searches this place on the Internet, the home page reads Co-Ed for Unified Learning and Teaching, a New Age school for the hippest of the hip. It appears to be a rambling English manor, sandstone and massive latticed windows and French doors, surrounded by a cottage garden gone wild.

All very civilized for a place of learning, but what I’d learn would scare the crap out of me.

“Going in sometime this century?”

I glared at Colt, sitting smug in his beat-up Chevy, eager to get rid of me. I’d been thrust on his family, Nan’s only neighbors, when she got carted off to the hospital. I hated staying with his uptight family as much as they hated having me.

“Nah, think I’ll hang with you a bit longer. It’s so much fun.”

He pointed at the door. “Get out.”

I didn’t budge. Colt didn’t scare me. C.U.L.T. did.

“I had no choice staying with your folks. What’s your excuse?”

His expression turned stubborn.

“How old are you anyway? Nineteen? Twenty, tops?”

“Twenty-one,” he gritted out. “Too old to be babysitting dorks like you.”

“Dork? That’s mature for a guy tied so tight to mommy’s apron strings he’s still living at home.”

His hands clenched on the steering wheel and I jiggled the door handle. The door opened on the third try.

“If you were this smart-assed with your Nan I’m not surprised she had a stroke.”

Low blow. That’s what it felt like, like he’d kicked me in the guts. His words inspired the same nauseating feeling I’d had when I’d told her what I’d seen. When she’d uttered five mysterious words—she took the wrong one—and keeled over.

“And she’s in a long-term coma?” He drove the boot in harder. “She’d probably do anything to stay away from you.”

I grabbed my backpack, slung my messenger bag over my shoulder, and slammed the door. I couldn’t get away from him fast enough. It wasn’t what he’d said as much as the possible truth behind it.

He leaned across the bench seat and leered out the window. “Enjoy the lock-up. It’s a perfect place for psychos. You’ll fit right in.”

“Screw you.”

Colt gave me the finger, gunned the engine, and squealed away from the curb, leaving me standing in front of my prison.

Wolfebane High had sucked, but boarding school? Fine for my favorite fictional characters who thrived on girl power. Me? I wasn’t the kickass heroine so much.

Sunday’s In Bed With……

Welcome to our Sundays In Bed With… Meme! The meme that dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning? Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

This is being hosted by two of the sweetest people I have to privilege of knowing in real life Kate and Kim. Sadly we don’t talk like we use to because you know real life happens but there is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of them both.

Good Morning everyone. I am back from vacation. I was really hoping to make a big dent in those books I wanted to read but sadly it didn’t happen. On our first day of driving from Canada to PA I encountered motion sickness. I think it was probably due to the stress of the construction happening both here in my area and in the US as well as worrying about the border and crossing into the US. Thankfully construction wasn’t that bad and very managable and  the border was a breeze. We didn’t wait no more then 10 minutes to go through.

Then coming home from PA to Canada about half way I encountered motion sickness again. Not sure why so no reading got done in the car but I did read while I was able to and this is what I read:

32075663

Midnight At The Electric by Jodi Lynn Anderson. This was not on my list but I had bought it before I left and wanted to read it. It was a quick read.

32603493

This was another one that wasn’t on my list but I had bought it while I was in Chicago.

32711909

This also wasn’t on my list but I bought it while I was in Chicago. This was the perfect read since I was up at 6am every morning and everyone was still asleep.

35668065

The Third Kiss is actually the only book I managed to read off my list.

So basically I carted all those physical books with me to the USA and brought them back unread. I wish I would have read more while I was away. Oh well what can you do?

So since being back I also read these:

35683226

32172267

33590204

I am currently reading:

29584841

This is for an upcoming blog tour I am on and I am a little over half way through this.

17166225

I just started to read this on Friday so I am taking my time. I think this is my first non fiction book in awhile. Has anyone else read this? I know a few people who bullet journal that recommend this so I finally ordered it.

27827203

I was just starting to read this on the way home so I am not that far into the book yet but really enjoying it so far.

What are you reading today? What did you read this past week

I received this book for free from publisher/pr firm in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I am once again super thankful to YA Reads for allowing me to be a part of another blog tour for another great book. Thanks to Entangled Publishing for sending me a ecopy of the book to read and review for the tour.

This was another quick and fun read and perfect for this time of the year. The perfect summer read.

I have to say the only thing I was disappointed in was the title because I was expecting this to be like a diary of all Marisol’s jewel heists but in reality its not. So for me that was a little bit of a let down but none the less I still really enjoyed the book. That is a quick on sitting read.

Marisol and her mother are professional jewel thieves but after their last heist that nearly got them caught they have decided to move to NYC and their rival. They want to live a normal life.

The book opens up with them stealing jewels from a museum in France and then being interrupt by their rival thankfully they are able to escape with the jewels and their lives intact.

Marisol and her mother are now living in the hustle and bustle of NYC and Marisol is set to begin her first day of school. This will be her sixth school in three years and she is only 16 years old. She is hoping that she will just blend in and not draw attention to herself but that doesn’t last long when she draws the attention of the good looking Will. This is all new to her because she has never had friends.

I have to say that I loved Marisol because as nervous and awkward that she was she went out there and embraced the friendship with Will and joining a club to make friends. I loved that as close as her and Will were getting that she didn’t let him define the relationship and she did what she wanted.

Will was the same way and he let Marisol do what she wanted and never forced her to do something she didn’t want to do. I think in a lot of relationships people are too quick to give up things for their partner. Yes we are in a relationship but we still need our friends and our own hobbies.

As the story progresses you see the slow building of the relationship between Marisol and Will. It was so cute to read it. I think I like these kinds of story lines more when its slow then when its all rushed and feels rushed.

So back to the story. Out of the blue Marisol’s uncle appears and at first they don’t think anything of it uncle Marisol realizes she is being followed and Will gets kidnapped. Will this expose who Marisol and her mother are to Will? Can she save Will from danger?

I would love for there to be another book because even though things ended neat and tidy there is still so much more to be told from these characters such as Will’s back ground? Who else was involved in Marisol’s family with heists? What happens to their arch rival?
