Identifying her parents was the hardest thing ever, until Kaya learned she was the killer’s next target. Moving had thrown the ancient predator off her trail temporarily but with magical abilities manifesting, Kaya’s scent grows stronger and the attempts on her life become constant. Narrowly surviving each encounter, Kaya is desperate to stop her potential assassin, but it’s hard to kill a creature that changes its appearance and disappears without a trace. Kaya finds the support she needs to succeed in her small group of friends and her boyfriend Kenneth. Like so many things, they’re more than what they seem and with the killer having unsettling similarities to Kenneth and his family…Kaya can’t help but wonder if there’s a connection.

Before beginning my review I quickly have to thank Rock Star Book Tours for allowing me to be a part of the tour and for allowing me to read and review the book for my stop.

Pinnacle is the first book in a series called The Core Series and it was released this week and its a debut novel. The second book is expected next year.

I love going into a book not knowing anything about it and I am so happy I didn’t know anything because I was taken on a roller coaster ride with this book because there was so many twists and turns in the book that you literally had no idea what was going to happen next. I literally had a hard time to put the book down. For me these are the best kinds of books to read when you want something new and different and this book offers just that.

The main character is Kaya who is a 17 year old girl who on the outside looks like your normal every day girl but behind close doors she has magical powers. I had no idea where this was going because it was beginning to feel like a paranormal book and I have to say that I really enjoy reading those. So needless to say this is not your typical book.

For some reason Kenneth seemed to rub me a little wrong. Not exactly sure what it was but I just couldn’t gel with him. There is definitely more to him that we know both of him and his family. This was something that Kaya picked up on but never really questioned it.

We all know that there is more to a person then they portray and let on and this was the case. What will Kaya do? Can she get the answers before its too late?

One thing I loved was how Lynn explained everything without taking away from the story. Reading each chapter was like peeling on onion and I think thats what made the book work. As I am reading this I realized that I can’t wait for the second book to come out and I hope its really soon. I need to see where this goes.

This is a fantastic debut novel and I would definitely continue reading the series when it comes out.

About Lynn:
Lynn Veevers is originally from Washington State. With her mother being from Christchurch, New Zealand and her father being a well-traveled retired Navy Chief, Lynn has always had a fascination with different cultures around the world. An avid reader, she prefers books that take her to a place she’s never been and teach her something new at the same time. The Young Adult Genre is her absolute favorite to read, so it comes as no surprise that it is also her favorite to write. Lynn, on average, pens two to three novels a year with the sequel to Pinnacle in the publishing process now!

Today Lynn lives with her husband and kids in Southeast Oklahoma. Her young adult and adolescent children are supportive and avid beta readers of her work and give her a straightforward and honest point of view about how authentic her characters voices and personalities are for their age group. What better reference than someone close to the same age as the main character. Her kids always have and always will be her greatest inspiration.

January 2018 Books Bought

Since starting my blog back in August of 2008 I always try to share what books I get with you so that you can see what I will be reading and I am always looking for a place to link them so that others can see them so from now on I will be sharing my links on Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality. As Marlene has offered to co-host Stacking The Shelves with Tynga’s Reviews.

Going into 2018 I am deciding to switch this up so that I can better document what books, both physical and arcs/earcs, that are coming into my house that I have either bought, was given to me by friends/family, publishers or tour companies. Wannabe actress Dani Steele’s résumé resembles a cautionary tale on how not to be famous. She’s pushing thirty and stuck in a dead-end insurance job, and her relationship status is holding at uncommitted. With unbearably perfect sisters and a mother who won’t let her forget it, Dani has two go-tos for consolation: maple scones and a blog in which she pours her heart out to her
celebrity idol. He’s the man her father never was, no boyfriend will ever be—and not so impossible a dream as one might think. When Dani learns that he’s planning a fund-raising event where the winning amateur athlete gets a walk-on in his new film, she decides to trade pastries and self-doubt for running shoes
and a sexy British trainer with adorable knees.

But when Dani’s plot takes an unexpected twist, she realizes that her happy
ending might have to be improvised—and that proving herself to her idol isn’t
half as important as proving something to herself.
