Why do you blog about books?

Today’s topic is a good one. Don’t you think?

The reason I blog about books is because I always love reading and sharing my thoughts on books with friends and family so when I stumbled upon blogging 5 years ago I knew I would have another outlet to share my thoughts not only with friends and family but with other people as well.

I loved reading what people had to say about books that I had read or wanted to read.

I never knew blogging existed until I found it and I love seeing book reviews from real people because to me they are the ones that well sell a book to me over a paid writer.

What do you do you think?

Talk About Your Blogging Quirks

I have been blogging for almost 5 years (blogiversary is coming up very soon) and by no means do I consider myself a vetern blogger at all. There is always something to learn.

  • I never plan out what I am going to read, I know I should and anything that has a dead line then that will be read first but once I am done I tend to check out release dates and go that way.
  • While I am reading a book I have a a note book beside me to take notes so that when its time to review it I am good to go.
  • When I start doing my review I tend to put it all down and then go back and edit it.
  • If I know I will be away from the blog for an extended period of time I will make sure to get things scheduled to post before leaving.
  • When I sit to write my reviews/post I do it right in blogger.
  • Whenever I do posts I have to have complete silence and alone. I can’t write with noise or people in the room.
  • I can never give a book a point rating because I always feel guilty.
  • I don’t take part in many book things (challenges etc) just because I end up failling and not completing them.
  • I over use a ton of words in my reviews.

Do you have any quirks?

Describe How You Shop For Books

I don’t really have a particular way that I shop for books and I know that there are people who have their way of shopping nailed down to a tee.

As a book blogger I do have a little note book that I list my wish list books and I make sure I carry it around with me all the time. I have even started to make notes in my phone with books I really want to check out.

When I go to the book store, I avoid taking a bag when its offered because that is always deadly for me. I also keep in mind of a budget I set for myself before going into the store because its so easy to over spend.

I will always head for the new releases in both the adult and ya sections to see what is new.

After that section I always head to the bargain books because you never know what you will find there.

Then its off to the adult and then ya sections to check out the books I have on my wishlist  to see if there is anything I really want. Sometimes I even end up scratching books off the wishlist because they turn out to be something that I didn’t want to read in the end.

Finally when that is done I will walk back through the sections to see if there was something I might have missed that I didn’t have on my list.

Do you have a routine for shopping?

Recommend a Tear Jerker

If you know me in real life you know that I am a big baby and can almost cry at the drop of a hate. I am an emotional person and when things are happy I cry, when things are sad I cry. I have always been like that and will always be like that.

I really had to think about this and I have to say almost anything written by Jodi Picoult (My sister’s keeper, 19 minutes) and Lurene McDaniels (Don’t Die, My Love, Six Months To Live, etc) are all tear jerkers for me.

I read alot of Lurene McDaniels when I was younger and loved her books and they always made me cry because even though they were fiction books they were based on real things and it made you appreciate life.

Do you cry? What would you recommend as a good tear jerker?

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge..Day 3 (Blogging BFF’s)

I am finally back from my exciting vacation and at the time of writing this I am suffering from jet lag and I was told for every hour in time difference it takes that in days to get back to normal. So for me the time difference was 6 hours.

We are practically falling asleep on the couch in the evenings at 6pm and I have been waking up at 2am. Its been brutal and the days are long. Thankfully things are slowly getting back to normal and I think Michael has been really lucky and its going faster for him.

Anyways when I got back home and started checking my blog I kept seeing a bunch of bloggers I follow taking part in April’s ( Good Book Good Wine ) 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge . I was quickly intrigued so I had to head over to see what it is about.

Granted I am late in starting this but it was nice to see that April is keeping this going for awhile so yay. Its never to late to sign up and start all you have to do is head over to the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge to find out how to get started.

Today’s topic is:

Who are your blogging BFF’s?

I have been so lucky in my almost five years of blogging to meet so many fantastic ladies that I consider friends for life.

So if you follow my blog you will know who they are. I hate making lists of people as you may already know so you know who you are.

Every one I have met has been fantastic and great friends and I honestly never would have thought when I started blogging almost five years ago that I would have that many great friends online who are always so helpful with offering me tips, advice or knowledge about blogging, books, etc.

Do you have any blogging BFF’s?

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge… Day 1 (15 Book Related Confessions)

Make 15 Book Related Confessions

  1. If you know me in my real life you know that I am very anal about my books. If I lend a book out I expect the book to come back in the condition it went out in and if it doesn’t then I won’t let that person borrow again.
  2. I admit that I probably have more books then I know what to do with and I am okay with that because they will eventually be read.
  3. I admit I sometimes will buy a book just because the cover is beautiful.
  4. When I first started blogging I experience TBR guilt but over the years I am okay with it more so if they are my own books that I bought.
  5. I hate when publishers switch the format of the books. Ie you start reading in paperback and it becomes a hit and they switch to hardback.
  6. I am so bad about writing a review when I am done the book.
  7. If I discover a new book will be a part of a series I tend to wait until they are all out before reading them.
  8. I always read before going to bed at night.
  9. I am really good with passing my books along when I am done with them if I don’t want to keep it.
  10. If I lend a book, I really expect it to be returned unless I specifically tell you differently. So many books haven’t been returned and that saddens me because they are books I really wanted to keep in my collection.
  11. Every 6 months I tend to clean up my collection. I will go through it and reorganize the books and decide if they are still to be reads and if not then they are passed along to friends or the library.
  12. The scholastic book club forms from the school are my downfall and I tend to order quite a few books from there in the school year.
  13. I take advantage of our public library quite a bit over the year but more so in the summer. Its a great way to read a new release book you just heard about without spending the money.
  14. I never ever dog ear a book (my own or a library book). If I am starting a book and I need to mark my page I will use what ever I have on hand.
  15. Finally my last confession is, is that I totally get so jealous of the bloggers who get to attend so many great author events in there city or book conferences. Sadly here in Montreal not alot of authors come here and conferences for book bloggers never happen.
Do you share any of these confessions?
