**A November Goodreads Best Book of the Month!**
I am Anda, and the lake is my mother. I am the November storms that terrify sailors and sink ships. With their deaths, I keep my little island on Lake Superior alive.
Hector has come here to hide from his family until he turns eighteen. Isle Royale is shut down for the winter, and there's no one here but me. And now him.
Hector is running from the violence in his life, but violence runs through my veins. I should send him away, to keep him safe. But I'm half human, too, and Hector makes me want to listen to my foolish, half-human heart. And if I do, I can't protect him from the storms coming for us.
"Three-dimensional vividness...An emotional and dramatic tale of an otherworldly relationship."--KIRKUS REVIEWS

Before getting into my review I just have to thank Entangled Teen for sending me a copy of the book so that I could read and review it for my tour stop with Chapter By Chapter Book Tours.

This is going to be another book that I have to watch what I write so this could be a short and sweet review. I don’t want to spoil it for you in case you want to read it and I hope you will. This was a fantastic book, The writing was beautiful and descriptive. At times I felt like I was a part of the book and I love books like that.

I just have to say that this book tackles a lot of social issues so be prepared as it seems like its all discussed in this book from self harm, abuse etc. This was in no means a light read.

I have to say right away that I was a little confused at first because I wasn’t quite sure what to make of Ande and who/what she was because her father is human and her mother is a lake. Yes a lake. How is that possible? That alone I wanted to know more about. As the story progresses you learn a lot about Ande and I grew to love her.

The November Girl is told in alternating points of view from Ande and Hector so you are able to find out more about each character and I like that.

Hector is 17 years old who does not live the ideal life and my heart broke for him. Hector is a mix of Korean and African American. His mother has chosen to live in Korea and has sent Hector to live with his dad but his dad is in the military so he is living with his uncle. His uncle doesn’t view him as a human basically because all he sees is the money. In order for Hector to deal with things he self harms. Feeling like he has no where to go he decides to run away until his 18th birthday to the Isle Royale because he knows once winter comes the island is deserted and he can be alone.

What can I say about Ande? She is definitely mysterious and intriguing. Ande has lived on Isle Royale all her life. Ande lives on the island with her  her father and tries to live a normal life but once November rolls around she is itching to be who she truly is. She is that the November storm that wrecks havoc on sailors and sinks their ships. She has to do this so that the she/the island can survive.

I loved watching the relationship between Ande and Hector grow. It was so sweet and innocent. It was nice to see that even though they are both broken and similar that they are different at the same time. If that makes sense?

What can I say about this book? I really enjoyed it and it was definitely a change of pace from what I have been reading. This was not a fast paced book, but it was something that was mysterious and kept you on the edge of your seat forcing you to keep reading.

Isn’t the cover gorgeous?

Review/ Never Apart

I quickly want to thank Chapter by Chapter Blog Tours for allowing me to be a part of the blog tour for this book today and for sending me a e-copy of the book so that I could read it for my honest and sincere review.

Romily Bernard is the author of several books but this was my introduction into her books and I have to say that after reading this I am very curious about her other books and I will have to check them out. That is the one great thing about being able to review books and/or taking part in blog tours because you always find someone you have never read before and end up loving the books.

I have to say right away I love the cover its so bright and it grabs your attention with the color alone and I think if I saw this in the bookstore I would more then likely pick it up based on the cover.

I pretty much devoured this book with two days or so because I was hooked right away but this mystery/thriller aspect of the book. I love reading books that you just can’t put down because you need to know what happens next and this was the case. I was I was capable of staying up all night to read but those days are long gone.

When I was reading this I kept getting that Groundhog Day movie in my head because this is basically that kind of storyline.

Our main character Grace is a typical seventeen year old.  Grace is in love with Ander her best friendwho just happens to be her twin brother’s best friend. Grace and Ander have always felt this connection so its just logical they are together. Grace is living in an alternate reality where she keeps on reliving the same five days over and over again. She is completely clueless on how this actually happened and she just wants to stop reliving those five days over and over again especially since she can’t see to change things to fix it.

So basically Grace and Ander are in a rush to find each other and try to escape from Finn who is going to kill Ander. This keeps repeating and they don’t know how to change it until the last time. In the last fall Ander doesn’t know who Grace is (unlike all the previous ones he knew who she was) and Grace is completely baffled to what happened this time and is trying to figure it all out before its too late.

This is told in Grace’s point of view and it alternate between her life before the first fall to the current one. I wasn’t sure about this but within a few chapters I enjoyed it and it did make sense.

Do you think you could handle living in a alternate reality? I don’t think I could handle living a day or even five days over and over again knowing what the outcome will be. Could you?

Before beginning my review I just quickly want to thank Chapter By Chapter Blog Tours for allowing me to be a part of this tour and to Month9Books for sending me a eArc of this debut novel to read and review for my participation in the blog tour. This is my honest and sincere review of The Missing.

If you are a reader of my blog you will notice that I don’t read or review historical fiction and that is honestly because I haven’t found that one book that would lure me in to this genre of books. This has been a genre of books that I never could get into no matter how many times I read I just couldn’t but I have to say after reading this I am thinking of trying something else within this genre, do you have a recommendation? If so please leave it in the comments and I will check it out.’

While I was reading The Missing I would have to say that I classify this as a bit of mystery, historical fiction, a little bit horror, (there was a few encounters with spirits that gave me the hibbie jeebes and I had to put the book down to get that image out of my head) paranormal and some fantasy. Clearly I am expanding my reading genre’s with this book.

Okay so the book takes place in London (one of my favorite cities that I am hoping one day to visit) during the 1890’s and its main character is Will/Willow Winchester, who is a teenager and he is hiding two big secrets from everyone. During this time period both are quite the big deal. The first one is that he can see the spirits of the dead and the second is gender. Meaning that he was born a female and has all the girl parts but when he presents himself to the world he acts and dresses like a male.

Something you might not know about me is that I believe that their is spirits are us on a day to day bases both good and bad. I have to say thankfully I have never encountered the bad ones just the good ones. For Will he has this special talent that allows him to see the spirits of the dead and in the book he stumbles upon some  paranormal investigators. He gets recruited into the Black Cross and its this organization that studies and investigates the hauntings around London. For the first time ever Will feels like he finally has found a place were he belongs and he can be who he wants to be.

Over all I have to say I really enjoyed the book and I am happy that I got the chance to read and review it but I just have one little issue and that was a lot of characters in the book and as I would read a few pages I would have to go back and figure out who everyone was but I quickly solved that with keeping a piece of paper in the book with the list of characters and info about them so that I could refer back to that.

Even though there was a lot of characters the writing was fantastic and it kept me hooked and interested although there was a few people I would have loved to know more about and I hope that this continues into a series of books so that we can find more out more about them.

I look forward to reading more books by Jerico in the future.
