Topbox June Edition

Last Monday my June Topbox was delivered but sadly since I wasn’t home the mailman didn’t leave the tube so I had to wait until Wednesday to pick it up.

Topbox is always one of the first beauty boxes I get each month and I love that it comes in the beginning of the month.

As you can see I stuck with the original tube instead of the recycled one. I think that this looks much prettier sitting on a shelf/bookcase/top of a dresser etc.

I try to avoid watching any of the youtube vlogs because I don’t like to ruin the surprise and I have even stopped looking at their facebook page until I have gotten mine. I was excited and curious about this months box because it was a little heavy and that is always a good sign.

When I opened the tube I instantly say this card “Bonus In addition to your 4 deluxe samples, we think you’ll enjoy these new products found at your local drugstore.” I was curious about the CLEAR new product as I have never heard of them but I have heard of Simple and I love their skin care line.

So the bonus items were:
-Simple Eye Make Up Remover. The full size is 125ml and usually retails for $9.99 and I got 56ml for $4.48 I recently got this in another beauty box I think last month and brought it with me when I went to NYC and I really enjoyed it. I love that their whole line is for sensitive skin. The make up I had came off smoothly and easily. I will definitely buy this when I run out.

-Clear Scalp and Hair Therapy total care daily conditioner. The full size is 356ml for $7.49 and I got 50ml for $1.05 This is a brand new product and I did see it at Walmart when I was there last week. I like the smell.

I love getting hair care products but the only thing that always bothers me is when these beauty boxes send out one and not the other. I like being able to try them both to see if I will like them before buying them especially when they are over a certain amount. For me if I am going to try a new shampoo I would like the conditioner to go with it. This way you get the full effect of the product.

The total value of the bonus items are $5.53

Inside my top box was:
-Get Creamed Body by Naked Decadence Salon Hair Wash. This is a new to me product.

Naked Decadence Premium Hair Care

Naturally-based Salon Hair Wash and Conditioner

Stop washing your hair with detergent! Stripped naked of the superfluous questionable chemicals, this premium salon hair care line is formulated using decadent natural organic and plant-based ingredients. Starting from a base of organic lavender and rosemary water, we added healthy botanicals including ginseng, nettle leaf, vitamin B5, and wheat proteins to gently clean, strengthen, and protect your hair naturally.

Additionally, instead of “fragrance” or “parfum” we scented this luxury product line with only Pure Essential Oils of Rosemary, Peppermint, and Lavender. These were carefully chosen to provide further scalp and hair benefits and a wonderful aromatherapy experience!

We believe you deserve a high quality hair care line that is also safe and healthy. You’ll likely see the difference in your hair after the first use, and continued usage will result in only healthier and more gorgeous hair!

Does not contain: SLS or any sulfates, parabens, phthlates, dyes, or perfumes.

The full size is 240ml for $22 and I got  60ml for $5.50  I love the concept of this because this is a natural and organic shampoo. I’m not sure about the smell but perhaps its different when you use it. Sadly I wish that they would have included the conditioner to go with this because I need conditioner and right now it would defeat the purpose if I use this natural, organic shampoo and then put chemicals in my hair, right?

-Stila Stay all day 10 in 1 HD beauty balm. Since getting these beauty boxes I have been introduced to same many name brands that I have been wanting to try but just could never afford it and Stila is no exception. This little tube was filled and as I opened it the product was coming out. It went on smoothly and blended very well leaving my skin feeling silky and smooth. The full size is 45ml for $38 and I got 5ml for $4.22

-Stila forever your curl Mascara. Another Stila product and I love mascara so being able to try a higher end mascara is always great. The full size is 0.35 fl. oz  for $29 and I got 0.12fl. oz  for $9.81  I haven’t opened it yet as I am still using another brand and want to use it up before opening this one.

-Pari Beauty Precious Glow. This is an eye shadow intensifier and primer. The full size is 10ml for $15 and I know this isn’t a full sized product based on the description as it says pump out the desired amount of precious glow. I compared this to the mascara and its the same size and it was 3.5ml so we will say its that for $5.25

The total value of the box this month is $24.78 + $5.53 (bonus)= $30.31 as you can see the box paid for itself. I am excited to try the Stila mascara and the Pari primer. Both items I use all the time.

I loved this months box apart from the hair care products. I think personally if you are going to send a shampoo you should send the conditioner as well. That is just my opinion. I am curious to what you think, please leave me your comments to let me know.

Check back later this week for my Glymm unboxing.

Topbox March Edition

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I got an email from topbox with my tracking number because lately so many of my monthly subscription boxes have been announcing they would be late. Thankfully topbox seems to be on top of the situation and I have to say that this is only my second box but they have been pretty consist with the date they ship on and I am thinking that perhaps they have a deal with Canada Post because this is actually the one and only box that I actually get when they say I will be receiving it.

I didn’t realize until I got the little card in my box that they have only been in operation for 6 months so I think this speaks volumes about the company.

So I have decided on a new format for these unboxing posts and please let me know what you think.

I will be doing a little intro post and then my vlog (if I do one that is depending on what I get and how excited I am about the boxes) and then I will share the photos with you so if you don’t want to watch the video you can skip over it. I will briefly talk about the service, then go into what I recieved with reviews of the products, a price break down and finally my thoughts on the box.

What is Topbox you ask:

Its a monthly beauty subsciption service were you will recieve 4 deluxe beauty samples each month for a fee of $10 + tax a month ($11.30 is what I pay). This is currenly only available to Canadians. They usually ship late into the first week of the month.

The perk to topbox is for every friend you invite and they join up under you, you will recieve a free box the following month. So if you are interested in signing up please let me know and I can send you an invite.

So please enjoy the video:

What I received in my March box:

-Mark (this was a personalized shade picked for me) Gloss Gorgeous Stay on Lip Stain. I recieved the shade Frilly  FrouFrou (I love saying Frou Frou). This was actually a full size product of 1.5g for $12. I really liked it. The shade was perfect for me and to describe it I would have to say a pinkish coral. I have to say that I wasn’t sure about the color at first but once I put it on I really liked. Its a perfect summer shade. It wasn’t sticky and went on really nice. I checked the avon website and it comes in 8 shades and you can click here to see them. There is a few shades that I would love to try.

-Mark Nailed it Trend Mini Nail Lacquers.  This is a new product in the Mark line and they only have these shades and its Violet Daze and Tickled Pink and it comes like this, two mini polishes that are 2.7ml for $8 and this was a full size product. I really like the shades although looking at this picture the pink isn’t really like that in person. The polishes went on really nice with no streaks. The purple looks darker in person but it went on really nice and I can see me wearing this in any season. The pink I have to say I wasn’t sure on how that was going to go on put it went on as a pale almost sheer look  and it would be a perfect shade for the summer.

-A new product hitting the stores is Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes. Its from the UK. I haven’t opened this and I am actually waiting to use them when I go to NYC in a few months. Reading the package I see that its kind to the skin which I love and it has no alchol, oil, dyes or perfumes. I have discovered lately that I am starting to get sensitive skin and certain products bother my skin. I received 7 wipes and that is a great sample size because you have a weeks worth to try. The full size is 25 wipes for $10.99 so I got 7 wipes for $3.08.

-Make Up For Ever Smoky Lashes. This is an item that is exclusive to Sephora. I loved seeing that I got another mascara sample because now I am set for a little while with sample sizes. I don’t use alot of mascara and whenever I buy it I end up throwing it away so having these are perfect. Its perfect to through in a small make up. The full size is 7ml for $24 and I got a 3ml sample $10.29. This is something else I haven’t tried yet and I want to save it for when I go to NYC.

-Redken Color Extend Shampoo and Conditioner. If you remember from my previous post you will notice that I just recently got this sample in my loose buttons box in February. Honestly I don’t mind getting this again because its perfect for traveling. I don’t have to worry about liquids since I am taking the train but still being able to throw a couple of these in my suitcase is perfect and not have to worry about bottles taking my unneeded space. So the full size is Shampoo is 300ml for $15 (sample size is $1 for 20ml) and the conditioner is 250ml for $17 (sample size is $1.36 for 20ml) So this is for two pouches of each one.

Break down on the prices:
Gloss Gorgeous Lip Stain $12.00 (full size)
Nailed it Mini polishes $8.00 (full size)
Simple Facial Cleansing Wipes $3.08 (7 wipes)
MUFE Smoky Mascara $10.29 (3ml)
Redken Color Extend $1.00 (20ml shampoo)
Redken Color Extend $1.36 (20ml conditioner)

So that total is $35.73
Then if I take away $11.30 (price I paid for this months box)
That would be $24.43 difference so as you can see the box paid for itself over and beyond.

My Thoughts:

I was really happy with shipping and it came when it said it would and that means alot seeing as this is coming from outside of Quebec.

I love the packaging and the tube I just need to find ways to recycle them now. Any ideas?

As for the products I am super excited to try them all and I can actually see my using each and everyone of them and perhaps even buying full size products when I am done.

I have to say that I am really impressed with this months  Topbox and I have to say right now that this is my favorite box this month.

Great job Topbox.

Please note that I haven’t received compensation for my post. I bought this box with my own money and was in no way influenced to write a positive post.

Topbox February Edition

Recently I finally got my very first Topbox after being on the waiting list since November. To my surprise I discovered that I was going to get a second box because someone had used my referral link. If you are interested in Topbox please leave your email address and I can send you a invite.

Topbox is a monthly beauty subscription service that you can subscribe to for $10/month (+tax) and currently its only available to Canadians. You will receive 4 carefully selected, indulgent, deluxe beauty products.

I have been checking out the vlogs on Youtube to see what everyone has been getting and I have to say that I had high hopes for the box because it seemed like everyone was getting great stuff. Would they be able to live up to all this hype?

When I got my email notification I was stalking the Canada Post website to keep my eye on the tracking. Sadly, Canada Post really sucks at updating the site so the site can show something sitting in a location for days.

It was funny the day I got them I had actually got the first one just a little before I had to pick up Michael from the bus stop and then the other came while I was making supper. I had initially done vlogs of the unboxing up after seeing them I deleted them because I honestly wasn’t feeling well and you could hear it. So pictures will have to do this month.

So this is how the box arrives. Nothing fancy in regards to the outer packages. Which I have to say I really like because there isn’t alot of waste going into the recycle bin.

Once the brown paper is removed you see this really cute printed tube. Just a FYI the tube isn’t really that big as it looks. That is one thing I noticed when I opened it.

When you open the tube you are greeted by a this purple tissue paper. I’m not sure if that is the color it is always or if its changed up but still not alot of waste happening.

I love this because I am big on recycling and hate when companies use so many things in their packaging . Simple is best.

A peek of the goodies I got. I didn’t see any vlogs or posts before getting mine so when they arrived I was really excited.

It was only when I was taking things out of the tube that my excitement dwindled down.

What did I get you ask?

In the background you will see the Topbox card and its just a plain and simple card that tells you about the products you got along with the value  of the product if you want to buy it.

I am going to start from left to right.

The first sample is Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat. As you can see its just like a sample you would find in a magazine and its really a one time use so its really hard to base a decision on if you want to buy it at full price. It retails for $50 so the price of the sample is unknown.

Then right beside that is Pari Beauty Eye shadow and its a shade that is based on my sense of style and eye color. The shade is in a purple and this is something I would wear. I was trying to find out what color it really is but can’t seem to find it. All I can find is a number. So this is actually a full sized product and its 2g from $11.

I was also sent two Lillypilly Kakadu Plum hand & body creme sample sizes. The full size is 150ml for $22 and the sample size is 3ml each for 0.88 cents. For me personally I love having these kinds of hand cremes in a little bottle or tube because its easier to handle and not having to worry about making sure it stays upright so it doesn’t spill. I really liked the smell of the creme it had a fruity smell. I was able to get three uses out of the little package. It went on really nice and not greasy. My hands felt softer and smoother right away. Not sure I would buy the full size product because I find it a little pricey.

Then in the white lid there is Shum Uemura Art of Hair Full Shimmer Illuminating Shampoo. I loved the scent of the shampoo and its something I would use. The full size is 300ml for $45 and I received a sample of 75ml for $11.25 This is a really good sample size and I have used it and really liked it although I wish they would have sent a conditioner sample to go with it because I always use conditioner. As nice as it was this won’t be something I will be buying because of the price. I also think that this might have been sitting around for a while because the bottle was dusty.

Finally the last product is Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils. I was excited to get this because I actually needed mascara and was almost ready to go out and buy a tube. Not sure of the shade since its just a number at the bottom but I think its black. So the full size is $36 for 6ml and I received a sample tube of 3ml for $18

The break down of the box:
Yves Saint Laurent Mascara $18
Yves Saint Laurent touche Eclat unknown
Pari Beauty eye shadow $11
Shum Uemura Art of hair $11.25
Lillypilly creme $0.88 (for both the samples)

Total $ 41.13 so the box paid for itself with the samples I got this month. I got some great products that I am trying and want to try.

As you can see from this complimentary box that I got the exact same products that I paid for with the exception of the eye shadow its in a different shade and its in the shade of a light brown/tan and this is a shade that I will be wearing.

I just thought it was a little funny that out of all the topboxes I have seen on youtube and some got different things then me that I would end up with the exact same products.

Anyways the complimentary box was free so I guess I can’t complain. Although it would have been nicer to get different things.

I will be getting the March box so that will determine if I am going to keep this or not.

Please note that I purchased the first box with my own money and the send one was free because someone signed up with my link. I was in no way compensated for this review.
