Meanwhile, Stanley must deal with the horrific tragedy of his best friend’s death while being threatened by the unseen forces of the Veiled Prophet.

With things spiraling out of control, Stanley and Hazel’s relationship is tested, possibly beyond repair. As bodies pile up, people become more desperate. 2019 Tackle my TBR Challenge

As the year is coming to end I told myself that going into 2019 and 2019 in general that I need to read more of my own books. I really came to realize this past summer that I have so many of my own books sitting in boxes and on book shelves that aren’t being read and that is really a shame. Imagine if I took a physical inventory of how much is sitting there I would probably be shocked. Plus getting diagnosed with MS in November I realized that I need to read those books sitting there.

This past year I managed to read 22 of those books. Which isn’t a lot and I am hoping to double that at the end of 2019. Wish me luck!

  • If one TBR book a month isn’t enough, set your goal higher! Do you think you can read five a month? Ten? Go big or go home! Just for fun, I’ve added some levels below.

My goal is to do level First Down and that is to read 25-36 TBR books. I am setting it low so that I won’t get overwhelmed and if I read more then yay for me. I want this to be a stress free reading challenge since its the only one I am really doing along with the good reads one.

Sunday’s In Bed With….

This is being hosted by two of the sweetest people I have the privilege of knowing in real life, Kate and Kim. Sadly we don’t talk like we use to because you know real life happens but there is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of them both.

Good Morning everyone. Hope you all had a good week and a good weekend.

Can you believe that tomorrow is Christmas eve? Seriously where is the time going? This is just crazy. Are you ready? I am clearly not ready and I am so behind but it is what it is…

As you can see this was a pretty good reading week. I am reading more at night to try and calm my brain since it still seems a little wired from that first dose of medication I was on and I am trying to avoid taking anything to help me sleep.

This past week I read:

The Christmas Blessing: A NovelThe Christmas Hope: A Novel

Currently reading:

The Christmas Promise: A Novel

Up next will be:

The Christmas Secret: A NovelThe Christmas Note: A Novel

Then I will need to track down books 7, 8 and 9 in the series and I would have read a complete series hopefully before the end of 2019 I will have done that.

Jonah Owens thought moving to Echo Ridge to open his art gallery would solve all of his problems. The need to sell his grandma’s house adds an unexpected complication. It would be easier if his neighbor didn’t have all those farm animals.

Kaya Feidler’s family has owned their land for nearly a hundred years–long before the neighbors were there. There’s no way she’s giving up the animal therapy business she’s been struggling to make profitable. She gets a temp job helping Jonah in the gallery.

Spending time together is a recipe for romance, but can they overcome their own hangups to be more than friends?

Snippet:
Jonah turned to a new page, thought of the boy and started drawing him on the sorrel, his gangly arms and legs seemingly out of proportion with the rest of him as boys so often were at his age. Jonah didn’t draw him straight on, but at an oblique angle, his excitement showing from the way he held his arms and legs, the implied movement of the horse. It felt a little like joy.
When he finished a rough draft, he flipped the sheet and started on one of the girl in the wheelchair and the happiness that had suffused her face as she held out a treat for the goat. It nuzzled her hand and she grinned brightly, joy on her face. She was detailed, and the goat was moderately detailed, but the rest of the space, the straw, the wooden beams and windows were little more than shapes in the picture, lines shooting off in different directions, adding dimension and mood without being fully formed.

It felt good to create, to feel the dust of charcoal, the sharp edges of the rectangular stick pressing into the pads of his fingers. His hands ached to hold a brush and spread paint across the paper, to see the form emerging from his mind and heart as he created something more than either part of him could ever do alone.

Christmas Apron:
The children in Millie’s family can’t wait for Grandma to arrive with her special Christmas apron. According to tradition, each grandchild will write down the gift he or she wants most in the world, and then slip that wish into the apron’s pocket. Then, on Christmas morning, those wished-for gifts will be magically waiting under the tree. But then eleven-year-old Millie overhears her parents: the family can’t afford gifts for all the little ones. She pictures the disappointment on her siblings’ faces: nothing to open on Christmas morning. Is Millie willing to sacrifice her own whole-soul wish so that someone else’s can come true? Full of tender emotion and delightful surprise, this story reminds us of the miracles that unfold when we think of others before ourselves.
