As you can see from the above photo we did in fact get 5 samples. One of them I am super super thrilled to get to sample and the others I am excited to try. Can you guess which one I am super thrilled about? I will give you a moment to look at the picture to think about it.

The item that I am most thrilled about trying is this Tocca Eau de Parfum in the scent Florence. I first heard about this just around the holiday season when Sephora have a boxed set of the perfumes on sale. I wanted to grab one but in the end I closed the site and walked away so image my surprise when I opened the box to see this.

I love the scent of mine and its right up my alley. Its got hints of bergamot, gardenias and jasmine.

The full size is $82.00 and thats for 1.7oz . I got the standard sample size.

Last month you might recall that I got something from the Whish brand and I really liked the shaver gel so I was excited to see this body butter in the box. Its the Three WishesBody Butter in Pomegrante. I have been using this after getting out of the shower and my skin feels so good and its nice to know a little goes a long way. I love the scent of this.

The full size is $26.75 for a 150ml and I got a sample of 22ml

Something that is new to me is the Number 4 Clarifying Shampoo. Its not suppose to strip your hair of color or moisture so I am excited to try this. Its got a nice scent,

The full size is$32.00 for 8.5oz

Another item I got in my last BirchBox was from Derma E. This one is anti-wrinkle Vitamin a Glycolic scrub. Its an all natural cleanser/exfoliates, Getting the skin rid of dull skin, cleanses pores and supposedly fades dark spots.

The full size is $12.75 for 4 ounces and the sample size is 1oz

Finally the last item in the box is by Cynthia Rowley Beauty and its the creamy lip stain in the shade Heartthrob. Its a long wearing lip stain that is buildable in color. I applied one coat and its was a nice color so I am not sure I would do more since I am not use to wear that color. It went on nicely not stickly and it was very moisturizing. I noticed a slight shine but it was okay. Its labelled as a classic red. So I am willing to try it out.

The full size is 0.17 oz for $23.00

Plus there was a coupon $30 off a $75 order from Rent The Runway.

Overall it was a good box with items I am excited to try and I have to say getting the Tocca sample made my day. Lets see what March will bring.

Good Morning everyone.

You are probably sitting there wondering why I am showing you a Birch Box unboxing after my rant in November (you can click on this to go there) and honestly I ended up caving when I saw that it was available here. I have lusted over the Birch Boxes since seeing blog posts and vlogs about the US boxes for all those years.

I am going by on the monthly plan so that I can cancel at anytime.

I am still confused as to why they never started to ship to Quebec from the get go because the product card is in English as is most of the products in this month’s box.

Speaking of this months box lets jump right into the box shall we. Firstly I have to say I like the box and its something that I will end up reusing. The theme this month is “2015 Let’s Do This.” and I agree lets do this.

This isn’t a favorite box but I am excited to try out the products.

~The first one is Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo. I love dry shampoos because there are times when I try not to wash my hair every day so having this on hand is perfect. The packaging is super cute and the smell is really nice.

SRV is $26.50 for 5.3 oz and I got a sample size of 0.75 oz.

~Derm e Hydrating Night Creme with Hyaluronic Acid. Try saying that 10x fast. I have never heard of this before. I am always a little worried when I go to try new skin care items so I will be trying this out slowly. Its got a nice smell to it.

SRV $31.00 for 2 oz and the sample I got was 1/2 oz.

~Harvey Price Hello Body Creme. This is another item I have never heard about until now. It has a nice citrus/floral smell that isn’t over powering and it blends into the skin amazingly not leaving you with a sticky mess. I noticed a difference in my hands and elbows from using it. Very Hydrating.

~SRV $26 for 12oz and I got a sample size of 0.50 oz.

~Model Co Party proof Lipstick in the shade Dusk Until Dawn. The packaging is really cute  and the shade is actually quite nice its like a nude dusty rose.

“There are two trio options to choose from: the Neutrals trio features Get Naked, a classic nude; Kitty, a soft baby pink; and Dusk Till Dawn, a deep nude with beige undertones; while the Classics collection has Peony, a hot pink; Red Velvet, a snappy red with hits of pink; and Disco Fever, a flirty coral.”

I really like this and I would consider purchasing the sets. I liked the color I got and I found it to be hydrating and non sticky on the lips. Its a semi-matte.

SRV $23 for 3 lipsticks at 0.13 oz and I got one of those lipsticks.

~Finally the last item in the box is Whish Shave Cream Acai Grapfruit. You can use this where ever you shave and I find that I tend to use a shave cream in the winter months when my skin is dry and itchy. I really like this and after shaving I was surprised that there was no redness or irritation to the sky. I always have problems in the winter time when I shave my legs. Not sure if this is something I would repurchase but I will give it a try.

“A moisturizing base of omega-rich squalene, organic shea butter, jojoba oil, and coconut oil protects against the redness and irritation associated with shaving, while organic green tea extracts infuse skin with antioxidants.”

SRV $22 for 150ml and I got a sample of 22 ml

So that was my very first Birch Box, what did you think? I am okay with what I got and the items will be used. Was I blown away? No but I am curious enough to go for another month.

BirchBox comes to Canada but Not Quebec

ca-monthly-box

For years now I have been drooling over BirchBox and was really disappointed to discover that they only shipped in the USA.  But C’est la vie right. Its not their fault they don’t ship to Canada, right?

Well imagine my surprise last week when I saw on instagram announcing they were coming to Canada. Not going to lie but I was thrilled and I must admit I did a happy dance and perhaps screamed and yelled a bit.

So for the past week I kept dreaming about BirchBox (I signed up to get email notifications and to their facebook page) and all the great goodies I would get to try and discover. I even went as far as to start working on a blog post and designing a button for my posts to even thinking about perhaps vlogging it. BirchBox was going to be the exception to the rule when it came to a new subscription box.

Well that happy little dream came crashing down over my head when I found out from a facebook friend that yes indeed BirchBox was coming to Canada but not to Quebec! What? What do you mean BirchBox is excluding Quebec? How freaking crazy is that?

So I instantly took to their facebook page to see if there was a valid reason and guess what? There is no valid reason just a very generic reply of

We so sorry for any inconvenience! The good news is we are actively looking into bringing Birchbox to Quebec in the near future, and we appreciate your patience in the meantime.

People have commented that it has to do with the language law and I am sorry i don’t buy that since other USA subscription boxes are delivered here (Ipsy, Beauty Box 5, Julep, Fortune Cookie Soap etc) with no problems.

Sadly BirchBox is probably losing out on a market here because we were all excited to hear that they were coming to Canada. I clearly think that this should have been mentioned before that they were excluding Quebec and not until afterwards when enough hype was built up about it. Perhaps that was their plan?

I have to admit that this left a bad taste in my mouth and I honestly think that BirchBox is going to have to do a hell of a lot to get us Quebec’ers on board when and if they ever launch here in Quebec. So for now guess what BirchBox? My money will be going towards GlossyBox USA which seems to have no problem shipping to Quebec.

To my Quebec friends, readers and followers would you subscribe to BirchBox?
