Good Friday morning everyone. Its that time of the month where I show what books I am unhauling this month. I had so much success last year unhauling books that I thought I would continue this again for 2016.
I decided way back in January (2015) that I wanted to document how many books I was giving away each month to see if I was making any kind of dent in my book collection.
I know last year I probably brought in more then I was actually giving away so this year I am trying to be cautious with my book buying and I am giving myself a budget each time I go shopping in hopes that it will curb my spending.
So each month I will be posting about what books I am unhauling and then another monthly post will be what books I physically bought in the month.
Are you a constant book buyer? Can you resist buying books on a weekly bases? Please tell me I am not alone in this?
At the end of December 2015 I unhauled a total of 211 books for the year.
To start January off here is what I am unhauling:
- And Again by Jessica Chirella
- The Readers of Broken Wheel recommend by Katarina Bivald
- Anna and the Swallow Man by Gavriel Savit
- First Love by James Patterson and Emily Raymond
- A Christmas Hope by Anne Perry
- An Amish Noel by Patricia Davids
- An Irish Christmas by Melody Carlson
- By The Light of the Silvery Moon by Tricia Goyer
- Sage and the Journey to Wishworld (Star Darlings series book 1) by Shana Muldoon Zappa & Ahmet Zappa (review in Feb)
- Libby and the Class Election (Star Darlings series book 2) by Shana Muldoon Zappa & Ahmet Zappa (review in Feb)
- Leona’s Unlucky Mission (Star Darlings book 3)
- Vega and the Fashion Disaster (Star Darlings book 4)
- Scarlet Discovers True Strength (Star Darlings book 5)
- Cassie Comes Through (Star Darlings book 6)
Unless otherwise noted these are books I have read and I am passing them along to another book loving home.
So to start January 2016 off I am releasing 14 books this month.
Total for 2016 is 14
Total for 2015 is 211
I love the idea of Unhauling books! I used to feel the urge to keep EVERY book I bought or got, but I don’t anymore. I have more unread books than I do read on my shelves, and I’m trying to keep the ones I keep forever limited to the books I really want to keep because I want to re-read them or because I want them on hand to loan out. It’s a different approach for me, and I love that I really think about the process of what I keep and what I purge.
I think 14 is a very good number for this year already! You go, Cindy!
Kate that is one thing I never had a problem with was keeping my books. Yes I have books that I have kept for various reasons but everything else I am okay with donating. I know I will never reread any of them so why keep them. They are only taking up shelf space I can use for new books LOL
This idea is wonderful. I might have to start doing this as well. I seem to buy more than I can handle. I hope you love all of your new books.
Grace @ Books of Love
Grace its only been a month and I was shocked that I bought so much but I admit that is usually one shopping haul so it was nice that I cut it down and I think keeping track of what I buy and how much I read in the month will help me out a great deal.
I love Tricia Goyer books! My favorite clean author.
Happy February!
She is a good author. Its nice to read something different once in a while.. so much trashy stuff out there
I don’t buy much, I rely heavily on NG & EW for my books, then there’s the library. I also giveaway books. How are you giving yours? Do you run a sweepstakes or trade them? I want to try trading at some point, I have to organize my shit though and I’m feeling lazy atm lol
I know in the past I am sure I bought more then what I was giving away and I think last year it really hit me when I was unhauling alot of books and realized that I am sure I spent alot of money on books I didn’t want to read so hopefully this year will be better. I don’t ship the books because its so expensive to mail things from Canada and even within Canada is expensive so I donate my books either to friends, the library or the school.
