Meme/ Know Me Better #3

I was just recently introduced to this new blog, I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and I was instantly hooked when I saw her pretty blog design. You should check it out if you haven’t already.

Kathy has created this wonderful meme and each week she will pick 5 questions off her author interview list for us to answer.

Kathy invites you to share your answers to these questions as well. You can either leave your answers in this weeks post which if you click here it will take you to it or you can create a post on your blog and then go back and link to this weeks post by clicking here and it will take you there.

The first boy I kissed with a boy I knew in grade one and his name was Jody. He was one of the cutest boys in my glass. He had kissed me at recess and say he was now my boyfriend. He wanted me to go to his house for a play date and I said no so that was the end of our grade two romance.

How do you unwind?

When I really need to unwind I tend to take a bubble bath and go to bed to read.

Meme/ Sunday’s In Bed With… #33

The awesome blogger behind this is Kate from Midnight Book Girl   not only is she an awesome blogger but she is was one of my roommates for BEA. YAY!!

Midnight Book Girl

Sundays In Bed With….is a meme I’ve started to share the book we’re spending the morning in bed with, or the one we’d like to stay curled up in bed with all Sunday if only our busy lives would allow! For fun, take a picture of the book in your bed, or simply write up a post or comment below sharing your Sundays in Bed With book. Quoted from Kate’s blog.

Good Morning everyone. Its hard to believe its that time of the week again for another Sunday’s In Bed With…. It just feels as though the weeks are going faster and faster. Can you believe its alread January 20th?

This is another week that I am not curled up in bed reading. I am super tired and had to make sure Michael was out the door for hockey practice and Faith First. I am going to attempt to do groceries while he is at Faith First.
Although if I was able to, I would be curled up in bed reading this:

I received this book last year at BEA from Scholastic and I am determined to try and read the 50+ books I got from BEA before going to BEA again this year. I know I probably won’t get to read them all but hopefully I can get through a good chunk of them.

What are you reading today?

The Wash Box – January Editon

Good Morning everyone. I have a new subscription service to share with you today. Its called The Wash Box and its a quarterly subscription service. This is my very first box and I have been anxiously awaiting this one for a few months. The first box was in September and I had just missed out on that so I have been waiting that long.

A little bit about the box and the subscription before I get into what I received in this box.

All subscription boxes will include 8-10 exclusive Suds Bar Soap and Essentials products in adorable mini-sizes as well as other brands every now and then. You will also receive a $10 Suds Bar Soap and Essentials gift code in each Wash Box you get.

The boxes are available three times a year, January, May and September to go along with the seasons basically. As a subscriber we will get the boxs roughly three weeks before the product launch of the box. Its a sneak before to what will be available.

For Canadians its $27.99 and for Americans its $19.99

Quotes

The box is shipped in a small brown box and packed with tissue paper. The box was packed and I had no idea what to pull out first. I also have to add that the box smelled really good. Everything is all hand made.

This first thing I pulled out was this Sea Island Grapefruit soap. This smells just like a tropical paradise. It also looks tropical. I can’t wait to start using this soap.

Next is this White Tea & Ginger Body Butta. You apply this to the driest areas of your skin. Its moisture intensive so it will soften all those dry areas. This is another great smelling item. I noticed that once I put it on my hand to blend in that the scent instantly reminded me of my aunt. I think this will last quite a while since a little goes a long way.

I have to say almost right away that I love how everything is package. Especially this Moisturizing Tinted Lip Butter. The containter is a cardboard  container so there isn’t alot of waste and I am sure its all recycable. Now when I opened this I was like wow thats dark (Brick House) but once I put it on to try it wasn’t that dark on me. I really like the color was nice and it doesn’t leave your lips sticky or tacky. They felt like they were getting moisturized.

Another soap I think I am really going to enjoy trying is this Oatmeal Milk & Honey. This smelled so good. Its a great blend and the smell is delicious. This smells like something I have smelled before although right now I can’t for the life think of what it is.

This has got to be one of the cutest little perfume samples I have ever seen. Its Serene Perfume Oil. I loved this from the moment I put it on and a little goes a long way. I am not good at describing smell so I am not even going to try but it was sort of fruity/floral ish. It was a great blend. I can’t wait to add this into my dialy collection.

This is called a Lotion Stick and you  apply it to the dry areas of your body. When I first saw it was like wow a deodorant but when I flipped it over I saw that it was this. What a neat idea. Great packaging. This smells so good. I think this had to be my favorite scent of the box. This smells of a certain kind of cookie that I use to eat when I lived in NB. Sadly they no longer make them and its been years so I have forgotten the name of them. But ya I am sure I will be going crazy using this now.

These are new to me but excited to try them out.  The first one is Tahitian Desire and the second one is Polynesian Breeze. Both smelled really nice. So not only is this good for your body but your hair too. All you have to do is spritz some on your hands and rub together and then work your hands into your hair. I haven’t tried this yet but will very soon.

I love burning candles and wax tarts so I am super excited to start burning this one asap. I don’t know what the smell is but I really like this and curious to see what the throw will be like. I will let you know when I finish burning it.

Finally the last item is this Shampoo Bar. How interesting is this? I haven’t used a shampoo bar yet (although I have a few that I should really try) but the idea of a bar of shampoo intriques me.

So this is what I got in my very first The Wash Box. I am really impressed with the contents and as you can tell I am excited to try them all out. I like how its all natural and hand made. I can’t wait for the May box to come.

What interests you in this box?

Quotes

So lets get into the Janaury Box shall we.

Each month the box arrives looking like this. There is an outer shipping box. I love that this is just a plain brown box because you can reuse it. Along with the ribbon. I think this box looks sleek and elegant just like this.

Once you open the box you are greeted with the January Box card which talks a little bit about the January box and on the flip side  is the product info and why each item was chosen,

This is what I saw when I removed the card. I love how everything blends so nicely.

This scarf is from Kitira Boutique and its a hand woven scarf.  This is hand woven  by members of a hill tribe ini Northern Thailand. Its made from 100% cotton and hand dyed with natural products. I really like it and its quite long which is always nice during this cold time of the year.

Now you now me and my love for candles so  I was thrilled to have gotten this. Its a scented cathedral candle and its in the scent Bamboo Bliss. Its from CAnce Kitira Hand Poured Cathedral Candles. This is made with the best paraffin in the world. It smells really nice.

Now this is something new to me and I haven’t heard about this until a recent box. Its a herbal steam bath tea. Honestly at first I thought it was something you drank but upon further investigation I realized that you actually use it in the bath. This one is by Unearth Malee Thai Steam Bath Tea.  Its made with organic herbs.  I will be trying this tonight because it helps alleviate headaches, sinus conjestion (which I am suffering with) stress and muscle tension.

Another thing I love about this is you can plant the envelope because its embedded with flower seeds. Which I will be doing.

Finally the last item is by Whispering Willow Whipped Shea Butter. It came in this super cute packaging which I think is nice. I love when companies go above and beyond in their presentation.

Its Tea Tree Whipped Shea. Not a huge fan of the scent but it feels really nice on the hands. Its got a great whipped consistency. This is perfect for dry skin, burns, sores and even scars because shea butter is filled with fatty acids and vitamins (A, E and F)

This month we got another bonus item.

Its the Perfumessence Organic “Breathe” Shower and Bath Bomb. This is another thing I love…bath bombs. You can use this in the shower (just put it away from the direct stream of water), a bath  and even a herbal facial steam. Its perfect for this time of the year for people suffering with an irritated throat and conjestion. I am sure I will be dipping into this very soon as well.  This also is made with 100% organic ingredients.

So that is my Janury Seasons Box, what did you think? Does anything peek your interest?

I am really impressed with this and it was another great month. Looking forward to the February box and seeing what they bring for Valentine’s Day.

A Morning of talking and shopping with a awesome friend

Today I was super lucky and happy to get the chance to hang out with Lucy from Moonlight Gleam and Simply Blushed. We finally were able to confirm a date that would work for the both of us. During the week if I meet up with anyone it has to be in the morning because of Michael and school.

I picked Lucy at up the metro (subway) which is close to me and then we went to our regular breakfast place.

This time I remembered to take pictures. I got the waffle with fruit and Lucy got I believe the Mesh Mash Omelette. Mine was delicious and this is what I usually have but sadly I only manage to get about 2/3 through it before getting filled.

Lucy graciously gave me a stack of books which I am super thrilled to read as some of those have been on a wish list of mine for awhile.

The books are:
~Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin
~Envy by Elizabeth Miles (we trade my arc for her finished copy)
~The Compund by S.A Bodeen
~The Complete History of Qhy I Hate Her by Jennifer Richard Jacobson
~Nothing Special by Geoff Herbach
~Blood Magic by Tessa Gratton
~Then I Met My Sister by Christine Hurley Deriso
~SEnd by Patty Blount
~She Smells the Dead by E.J Stevens
~Into The Deep by Lauryn April

Then she gave me this super cute owl tote bag which I love. I was so thrilled to have gotten that. Those goodies were inside the bag. I was literally like a kid in the candy store pulling the items out.

I got an assortment of book marks. I love the Book Scent ones. I managed to hide those from Michael because he would want the root beer one until after I got the pictures done.

The loose items in the bag were a package of organic cotton wipes, two packs of facial wipes (which always come in handy for nights I am feeling too lazy to remove my make up), three plastic containers to put items in, a lip balm, two L’Oreal Paris nail polishes (330 Fleur de Lis & 260 Wishful Pinking and two Sephora by OPI (Lost without my GPS & How Cute Is That?)

Inside this cute little gold bag is a bar of soap (which is something special and I will be passing it on to someone so I can’t say whats on it or who its for just yet) and Foot Works Overnight Cream.

Lucy also gave me a ton of perfume samples cause she knows I love perfume. I got: Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir,  LAdy GaGa Black Fluid, La Vie est belle by Lancome, maison martin margiela untitled, belle by Rihanna, Parfum D’Extase by Marchesa, , Outdorr Shower Fresh by Clean, Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf and Angel by Thierry Mugler

I was blown away by this make up bag. It was filled and of course packed much nicer then it is now because Lucy was telling me how to use certain products that I have never used before. It was funny because when I was opening it in the car Lucy kept saying that I wouldn’t get it all back in but I did.

All this was packed into that little cosmetic bag. No word of a lie.

Top Row:
ELF complete coverage concealer light and medium, ELF Eye Transformer (this will change the look of your eyeshadow say if you have a fall palette you can instantly transform it into a summer look) and finally a selection of shimmer eye pencils by elf along with a black brightening pencil.

Middle Row:
eye lid primer & mineral eyeshadow primer, Yves Rocher sexy pulp mascara, elf regular and waterproof mascara, & elf lengthening & defining mascara and elf baked bronzers in maui, st. lucia & los cabos

Bottom Row:
Elf baked blushes in the shades: pinktastic, passion pink, rich rose & seyenne by orglamix, eye shadows in the shades: blue moon, ocean dream, nouveau neutrals, teal dream & punk funk (love the colors and I can’t wait to use them) and then ELF conditioning Lip Balm SPF 15 in the shades: mellow melon, blissful berry, romantic rouge & nice and neutral and then rimmel sweetheart tulips.

Wow I am so appreciate all these awesome goodies Lucy. You were so generous and sweet. Love it all and I can’t wait to try them out.

After that we headed over to the mall to do a little shopping. I actually had a list and I am happy to say I only bought what was on that list and pretty much stuck to the budget I had set for myself. The following pictures aren’t in the order that we shopped.

Bath & Body Works was actually the last store we shopped in because I knew that the bag would be heavy. I bought the foaming hand soap in all the spring/summer scents. They were 7 for $25. I got First Bloom, tangerine, apple, pear, strawberry (x2) and inside the owl sleeve is a coconut one. Love the smells and I can’t wait to start using them.

Yves Rocher was actually one of the first places we stopped to shop in. I managed to find my Apple Delights on sale for $1 so I stocked up and bought 8 bottles. They are the mini ones. I also managed to get some freebies since I have a points card for the store and I got two cosmetic bags (a small one and a bigger one) and earrings with necklace.

The earrings are really pretty and since I don’t have pierced ears I will be passing them on to someone who does.

Here is the necklace which I really like. I can’t wait to wear this.

After that we went into Lush since its close by and I picked up two bath bombs. The white one is Sakura (When the blossoms burst forth in spring, it’s a tradition to take a picnic and bottle of sake and enjoy the beauty. Noriko, one of our product inventors, hails from Japan and this beautiful Bath Bomb represents what it’s like to be in a park while the breeze blows through the blossoms in the trees. Instead of heading to the park, lay back in serene waters while the gorgeous scents of mimosa and jasmine envelop you to give you the joyful feeling of springtime. Sakura: simple, elegant, and enduringly beautiful bathing.)

The blue one is Big Blue (Take a dip into the deep blue sea of our Big Blue Bath Bomb for an inspiring getaway to the seashore. Lavender is instantly relaxing on the body and mind, and lemon oil helps to keep you afloat. For a truly authentic experience we’ve added in some of nature’s finest ingredients – sea salt and seaweed. Packed with minerals, salt helps the body rid itself of toxins, while seaweed softens and soothes your skin. Just lay back and sail away to shores of uncluttered thoughts, softer skin and warm, blue seas.)

Then finally the second to last store we shopped in was Sephora. I went into buy the Smashbox Photo Finish. I had received a sample of the hydrating one and loved it and said that I would purchase this. I love how it makes my skin feel with make up on. Then at the cash Lucy was getting this Korres package and she was saying what a deal it was so I had to grab this since it was only $12. There is a lip butter and a hand lotion.

I redeemed 500 points and picked up ths Buxom Shimmer, Shine and Smoke set. Inside the box was:
– Divine Goddess Luminizer in Venus (1 oz)
– Buxom Lash in Blackest Black (0.2 oz)
– Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish in Sugar (0.07 oz)
– Buxom Waterproof Smoky Eye Stick in Silver Sword (0.015 oz)
I have never tried Buxom and I am excited to try it out.

Wow what a whirl wind day it was but it was so much fun. Love hanging out and shopping with you Lucy. Can’t wait to do it again.

Meme/ Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that is hosted by the lovely bloggers over at The Broke and The Bookish .

I know I don’t take part in this as much as I would like to, although I am hoping to change that this year.

Today’s topic is:  Top Ten 2013 Debuts I’m Looking Forward To

When I saw that this was the topic this week I had to take part. There are so many great debut books coming out this year that I am super excited about. In no particular order here is what I am looking forward to getting a hold of this year to read.

This is actually one that I am the most excited for and I can’t wait to get this. Wishing Kellie much success with the book. I got to meet Kellie last year at BEA as she was one of my roomies that week.

This one sounds like it will be an interesting read.

Isn’t this cover beautiful?

I have been watching KC’s youtube videos for awhile now and love them. She is so funny and I can’t wait to read this.

I actually was able to get this last year at BEA and I can’t wait to read this. Love the cover.

So this is what I am excited to read this year. What about you? Anything on this list interests you? Sorry about not putting any release dates on these books but I am currently working on this post at 1am. I encountered problems with blogger and then my computer so I am about ready to throw this out the door very soon.

Before that happens I am going to bed. Night everyone.
