Sundays In Bed With….is a meme I’ve started to share the book we’re spending the morning in bed with, or the one we’d like to stay curled up in bed with all Sunday if only our busy lives would allow! For fun, take a picture of the book in your bed, or simply write up a post or comment below sharing your Sundays in Bed With book. Quoted from Kate’s blog.

Wow what a week its been here in my house. It was the last week of school (YA) so we were getting ready for that, Michael got sick this week (runny nose, sore throat and a cough) so we will be taking it easy this week so that he can rest before our trip next week so that he will be better when we leave, I have been shopping for our trip (finding things for Michael to do on the plane and during layovers./waiting)  and we have company this weekend.

Not much time was spending reading as I wanted to get up and get some posts done (sorry for the lack of posting lately and I apologize if your feeder gets bombarded with posts this upcoming week as I am attempting to get caught up this week)

Anyways the reason you are here is to see what I am reading.

So this morning I was in bed reading this:

I always love reading Catherine’s books and supporting a local author.

What about you? What are you reading today?

Excerpt:

The bell above the door jingled as I walked into the building, and the smells of new and old books wafted their way through my nostrils. This was heaven. I perused the aisles finding the new supernatural and fantasy ones. I thought about the large pile at home waiting to be read. It was about to get larger. I made my way toward the counter to pay, when the pounding headache found its way back. Immediately following, nausea clenched my stomach causing a few gags to gurgle out of my throat. I couldn’t catch my breath and my heart jabbed against my rib cage. Trying to walk, and find somewhere to sit, I fell taking the books with me to the floor. When my eyes opened, darkness surrounded me. One tiny light peaked from behind the black drapes. Fear tightened its grip on my stomach.

I stood on legs of Jell-O and made my way toward the light, hoping it would wake me from this odd dream. Stumbling across the dark path, a figure draped in night stood before me. A yelp escaped from my lips. I tried to get away, but his sparkling blue eyes locked me in place. With midnight hair spiked to a perfect point, he watched me with pursed lips. His toned body towered over me.

His eyes danced along each portion of my body and I felt naked standing unguarded in front of him. In those eyes there wasn’t desire but a longing, and I understood. I couldn’t move, and didn’t want to. For the briefest of seconds we stared at each other. Then he took a step forward. With that one step, his body was drenched in light head to toe. I could see every detail. With that one minor step forward his whole appearance had changed drastically. He went from being a dark seductive stranger, to a hideous foul beast. His blue eyes transformed to a deep shade of red like blood coated them. His lips once so full and lush, were now pulled back into a sneer as large protruding fangs slid from his gums.

I screamed and looked around for an escape, but where do you run to in the dream world? His hand clenched against my shoulder. He spun me around and brought my back against his tight chest. Hard stiff hands pulled my head to a tilt. I felt hot steamy breath against the crevice of my neck. Was he going to bite me? Sobbing, I tried to break free from his grasp. Hoping that death in a dream was only that, but this dream seemed so real, so alive; I didn’t know what to expect. Thrashing about I felt more hands on my shoulders, and I tried to fight back. When my eyes opened, the room was bathed in beautiful luminescence. I found myself back in the book store.

“What was that?” I asked to no one in particular. I sighed with relief. It was nice to be back in the real world. That dream was frightening. I felt his hands on my body. His hot breath still stuck to my neck.

Good Morning everyone, I was actually lucky enough to spend some time reading in bed this morning but that could be due to the fact that I was wide awake at 5.30am again. I have been doing really good since getting back from NYC (where I was constantly wide awake then) and sleeping until about 6:30am. I think its probably due to the fact that this is the last week of school and in 17 days we  will be leaving for vacation and flying to Hungary for 15 days.

So this morning I was in bed reading this:

This was a book I got at BEA and I really want to make it a point to start reading the books I got at BEA this time around. I know this is a pretty quick read which is what I am looking for right now since I have so much to do before leaving on vacation.

Sadly this review won’t be up until I am on vacation so you will have to check that out then.

What are you reading today?

Even worse, some of that darkness may already exist within her, threatening her chance to make Hallows Haven her permanent home.
Have Gwen’s loved ones continued to keep dangerous secrets? Can Gwen resist the call of darkness?

Excerpt

Grandmother held out her hand. Out of thin air, a rather large, dull, old-fashioned brass skeleton key appeared. She fit it into the rusty lock covering the door of the banned room. The door crankily complained its way open, burping stale air in their faces. It was obvious that visitors to this room were infrequent.

“Now you will see why you were never allowed in here, Gwen.” She moved aside, allowing Gwen to enter the room before her.

It took a moment for Gwen’s eyes to adjust to the darkness of the windowless room. There was an iridescent glow pulsating from the long wall parallel to the door that made it look as though the wall were living, breathing. Gwen blinked. She couldn’t believe this had been in her basement this whole time and she had never known. A fantasy come to fruition. “Holy sh…!” she exclaimed.

Living in Michigan in a modern-day “Yours, Mine and Ours” type household, Melissa is the biological mother of 3 and a full-time stepmother, as well. On some days, she may even be considered evil, and not just by her stepchildren. Most of the time, she is sitting at the kitchen table, poised over her computer while daydreaming up new plots for books. She blogs (on occasion) over at rockanddrool.com. Excerpt:

Seth noticed Krista’s shoulders were extremely pink from the full day’s worth of sun exposure.

“Dang, Kris, your shoulders got burnt today. You’re going to be sore tonight,” he commented. He had dark, olive-toned skin which tanned nicely, but Krista burned if she wasn’t careful. He had reminded her to lather on the sun block that morning, but it was only SPF 5. He had bitten his tongue to keep from chastising her.

Now he saw her skin looking angrier by the minute and grimaced, knowing she was going to be miserable by nighttime.

Krista looked down her nose at her left shoulder and gave a shrug, “Oh, well. I have some aloe stuff my mom bought me. I think I might have it here in my bag.” She reached into the bag she had plopped down next to her, and eventually pulled out a small bottle of aloe.

“Can you rub this onto my shoulders for me?” Without waiting for an answer, Krista swung her right leg over the side of the tree so she straddled it with her back to Seth, giving him access to both shoulders.

Seth, used to her bossiness, squirted some of the gel into his palm and began to delicately rub it into her skin.

“Oooh, ouch. You’re right. It’s already starting to hurt.” Krista winced.

Seth felt the cool gel warm up under his fingers against on her hot skin. Krista glanced back over her shoulder and for a quick second, locked with Seth’s intense gray gaze.

Seth stopped rubbing the aloe into her skin as something between them vibrated, humming so loud it seemed to fill the silence of the woods surrounding them. Krista leaned back into Seth’s chest, reached her left arm behind his head and pulled him to her, operating on instinct rather than organized thoughts.

Within seconds, Seth had his arms filled with beautiful, soft, Krista. Her fingers tangled in his hair at the nape of his neck and their lips met in a long awaited union. He was no longer capable of calling to memory why he believed he should be avoiding such an encounter with her. All he could do was feel.

It felt natural, when she leaned back against him, to wrap his arms around her and pull her closer. When she pulled his face toward his, it seemed as if he had made the journey a thousand times. There was nothing awkward or out of place, as he had wondered about. The moment his mouth met hers, she invited him in with a gentle parting of her lips, flicking her tongue over his. A hunger within him was unleashed and he ran his own fingers up into her hair at the base of her skull, cupping her head, tipping it back gently to take the kiss further, deeper.

The world stopped, tilted, and reversed rotation. There would be no going back. This was an irreversible revelation.

BEA Books I Missed Out On

As you know BEA (Book Expo America) was May 30th to June 1st in NYC and if you have ever been you know its three days of pure crazyiness.

Like most bloggers who attend BEA they kind of make a list of their must pick up books. I am no exception and I basically was scouring every inch of the internet to find out what was going to be available this year at BEA.

Today I thought I would share with you my top ten list of books that I was hoping to get at BEA but didn’t (insert sad face here). If anyone happens to have duplicates or they don’t want them I would be willing to pay for shipping, just leave me a comment with your email and I will get back to you.

In no particular order here they are:

Did any of these make it on your list? Did you get any of them?
