There is no words to express how raw in emotion this day still is me and I am sure to all my readers. Its a day that we will never forget and it changed the world forever.
Can you remember what you were doing that morning? I can as it feels still like it was only yesterday. No knowing what was going on and who was doing it was pretty scary.
To many innocent and braves lives were lost on that day and are still being lost. Lets remember those people and the ones who continue to risk their lives for us so that we can be safe and free.

Carl’s parents were visiting us and Carl was at work. I was visiting with his parents – we were going to go to lunch and then I was going to take my mother-in-law to Atlanta for a weekend shopping trip. We didn’t have the TV on. My next door neighbor came over and told us what had happened. I think we were all numb for weeks afterward. (Needless to say, the Atlanta shopping trip was canceled.)
I had just dropped the kids off at school and was home that day. I plopped down in the couch with my coffee to watch my guilty pleasure, Regis and Kelly and the news interrupted telling about a plane hitting the first tower. I live in western NY state so that was on all of our channels from the beginning. I had no idea what was happening and was naive enough not to even consider terrorism. I watched in horror as the second plane hit and still had no idea what was happening. The whole day I was glued to the TV and the telephone with family and friends. Since our local channels all came from NY City at that time that was the only thing covered for weeks.
My children are too young to remember before 9/11/01 the same way I am too young to remember the tragic effects of the World Wars and other such events. I will never forget that day and all that was to follow. I have never been very political or had a huge interest in history but this made me realize that I need to pay more attention to the world around me. I am so grateful for our wonderful country and our allies. We’ve lost too many people because of this but I am so grateful for all they and others have sacrificed to protect all of us. I will never, ever forget.
I woke up late and turned on the tv. I thought I was watching a movie until I changed the channel and saw the same thing everywhere. I was stunned and couldn’t believe it was really happening….
