Library Loot… November #2

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Linda from Silly Little Mischief that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.

I went back to the library this week because I had to return Second Life by S.J Watson. I was only able to borrow it for a week and sadly I wasn’t able to finish it. I am hoping that once its taken off the new release section I can borrow it again.

I also ended up returning the other items I borrowed as well. I enjoyed listening to Josh Groban’s cd and I started to read One Past Midnight by Jessica Shirvington and stopped because I think this will be one of those books that I will want to own so hopefully I will get it for Christmas.

This week I went on a children’s book spree and picked up the following books:

These are all picture books.

These are the chapter books.
I borrowed Rise of the Guardians on dvd to watch this weekend.

As you can see I was on a William Joyce kick this week. Michael actually likes the books and author so I just wanted to refresh his memory of the books.

You’re Never Weird on the Internet (almost) by Felicia Day was one of those books that I wanted to get at BEA and never got. I almost picked it up a few times when I was at chapters when it was on sale but didn’t so when I spotted it in the new release section I decided that it was now or never so I grabbed it.

I also borrowed two cds:

  • First Kiss by Kid Rock
  • Under My Skin by Avril Lavigne

So this is my haul this week. What do you think?

I have decided that I think I am going to make an attempt to get back into going to my local library on a weekly bases. I know I should have continued this when September rolled around and the weather was still nicer and I honestly think once the snow comes it might not happen as much.

I realized that apart from my coffee dates with Jennifer and my monthly breakfast dates with Tina that I am pretty much in all day apart from going to get the mail at the community box on my own I should say I do get out with hockey, errands and groceries etc.. I hope you know what I mean, do you?

Anyways for now I did go to the library and walked around and I managed to pick up:

This is Josh Groban’s newest cd and I was thrilled to see that my library had it on hand so I picked it up to listen too.
I also spotted One Past Midnight by Jessica Shirvington in the new YA section so I also picked this up to read. I have it for 3 weeks so I am hoping to get to this within that time frame.
In the 7 day borrow section I spotted Second Life by S.J Watson. I have been anxiously waiting to get this one and numerous times I have picked it up at chapters but always put it back so I am happy to get this and I have seven days to read this before I have to bring it back.

Do you borrow books from the library? What about music? What do you like to borrow from your library?

I figured since the weather was starting to get nicer I would start walking to our local library and get back into borrowing books and perhaps get away from buying so many books.

This week was a small haul as I didn’t bring a tote bag with me so I didn’t go over board since I would be carrying everything home with me.

For Michael I borrowed two DS video games and they both were Zelda ones that he wanted to try out to see if he liked them.

I borrowed two dvds that we plan on watching next Monday and Tuesday since they are ped days and they were Mary Poppins (its one of my favorite movies and I can watch it over and over again. This was also my first broadway play I saw in NYC) and The Wizard of Oz (Michael’s grade 6 class put this play on at their school and he wanted to see the original movie)

The books I borrowed this week are:

  • Living Me to We (The Guide for Socially Conscious Canadians) by Craig & Marc Kielburger
  • The World Needs Your Kid (How to raise children who care and contribute) by Craig & Marc Kielburger and Shelley Page
  • Free the Children by Craig Kielburger with Kevin Major
  • Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

I probably won’t be going to the library weekly to borrow books as I am going to make every effort to read what I borrow first and bring back and then borrow new ones. Its easy to get sucked in because we have two adult cards and a childs card that each hold a limit of 50 books/card.

Do you borrow from the library? What is your card limit? Do you get all the newest books?
