Searching for Montreal Area Book Bloggers

Even since our group started to meet up for our monthly get togethers we have spoken about trying to get something going with some other Montreal bloggers and trying to form some kind of community. The idea was always there but nothing really developed.

Then a few months ago while I was dropping off Laura from Library of Clean Reads prize win she had mentioned that she was thinking about doing something.

During Armchair BEA I realized that something needs to be done and I would love to meet other local book bloggers and get something going. So off went an email to Laura and I am happy to announce that Laura from Library of Clean Reads and myself will be working together to get this started.

We are going to meet up next week to knock around a few ideas. If you have any ideas/suggestions please leave a comment and if you happen to be a Montreal Book blogger please fill out the form and we will be in touch. Please feel free to share this link with anyone you know who happens to be a Montreal book Blogger.

I just realized that I didn’t leave a spot for email. If you could please leave your email address in the comments/question and suggestion box that would be great.

An Announcement

Oh how I wish I was making a earth shattering announcement such as “Hey I’m Going to NYC and BEA!” but no that’s not the case (insert sad face here). I just wanted to let everyone know that starting today and until probably September I won’t be having a Sunday post.

I have decided that Sundays will be a day off for me unless there is something I need to post. Right now I am trying to have posts up from Monday to Saturday and so far so good.

Come back tomorrow for It’s Monday, what are you reading post?

Have a good day everyone. I hope its nice where you are.

Doesn’t this sound good?

Mara Dyer doesn’t think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.

It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.

There is.

She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.

She’s wrong.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer hits stores everywhere 9.27.11. Pre-order your copy here. Download the widget here. Enter to win an Advanced Reader’s Copy here.

This one is going on my wishlist. Sounds really good and I love the cover. What do you think?

Armchair BEA

If you are a book blogger you know that the week of May 23rd is BEA (Book Expo America) in NYC.

You can tell its coming pretty quickly from the chat on twitter and the blog posts that are starting to appear on people’s blogs. I am sure I speak for everyone that the excitement is starting to build up, am I right?

Sadly, I won’t be attending this year but I will be there next year in 2012. I was lucky enough to go last year and let me tell you it was crazy. Sheer madness but honestly it was so much fun that I would do it again in a heart beat. To be able to surround yourself in NYC, bloggers, authors and books ws truly amazing. Last year I got to go with my fellow Montreal bloggers and it was so much fun.

If you are like me and can’t go this year but want to take part in all the action and fun (virtually), don’t worry because a bunch of awesome bloggers have got our backs and started up the second annual Armchair BEA.

Registrations are now open so just head on over to the site and fill in the form to register for Armchair BEA. I did and I am hoping to offer a few give aways.

What do you think?

So, what do you think? Do you like the new look?

For the past few months I have been thinking about getting a new look and I started to look around and asking fellow bloggers who they used and who they would recommend.

There was so many great choices and I stumbled upon alot of new bloggers in the process. But for me the one who stood out the most was:

Pure Imagination

This fantastic blogger is Lori from Pure Imagination. You can see her previous work on Use Your Imagination Designs.

Use Your Imagination Designs

I have been a follower of Lori’s blog for quite some time now. I actually stumbled across her and her blog from her IMM Vlogs on youtube. If you haven’t seen her vlogs you should check them out. You just might spot a cat or two lurking around. The cats are all so cute. Hello, need I say more?

Why did I use Lori you are asking? Well it was for a few reasons such as her unique work (she has done several other bloggers that I follow and each blog is different), her work speaks for itself and because of her cute cats.

I loved working with Lori. She was fantastic and I would highly recommend her if you are looking for a new look. She was quick with coming back with a look and at each phase asking me what I thought and telling me if I didn’t like something or if I wanted to change something to let her know. I think I did really good and wasn’t too demanding in the process. Right Lori?

She also designed a business card for me and I am so excited and I cant’ wait to order my new cards and perhaps some other stuff to go with this.

Thanks again Lori you are the best and I absolutely love the new look.

If you haven’t already checked out Lori from Pure Imagination you really should hop over and say hi. She is a fantastic YA blogger. I love reading her reviews and seeing what she gets in her mailbox each week, although I have to say since following Lori’s blog my wish list has been increasing.

Third year anniversary

Today marks the third year anniversary of that tragic accident that happened just outside of Bathurst, NB (Canada) that claimed the lives of seven young boys and a teacher from my old high school, Bathurst High School.

I am not quite sure what is planned in Bathurst for today but I know that these boys won’t be forgotten.

Gone but not forgotten: Nathan Cleland, Justin Cormier, Daniel Hains, Javier Acevedo, Codey Branch, Nickolas Quinn and Nick Kelly. Teacher Beth Lord.

I would love to win

Its not very often that I post about a contest but this time I thought I would. A fellow blogger Pam who blogs over at Bookalicio.us is having a two year blogiversary. Congrats Pam.

I got to meet Pam briefly last year on the streets of NYC when all kinds of bloggers were there for BEA. Pam is exactly the same in real life as she is online.

The contest is open from January 5th – February 10th.

Want to know what you have a chance to win? Well she is graciously offering a whole bunch of secondary prize packs courtesy of Harper Collins, Penguin, Simon & Schuster, Chronicle Books and Candlewick and they consist of children’s books, middle grade books and young adult books. Some of the great titles are: Shade, Slice of Cherry, Fancy Nancy books and items, Blessed, and Darkest Mercy just to name a few and peak your curiosity.

If you thought that was great well you haven’t heard about the grand prize. Curious to know what the grand prize is? Well click on this link to find out http://bklc.us/2y.

Yes its a Nook Color! I would love to win this because as you know I got an eReader this past summer and of course with in a few months they released a newer version that has wifi and its in color. How great would it be to actually have your book covers in color instead of black and white? I would have loved to have gotten that one instead. This would be great to travel with, with my seven year old son. He could play games on it, listen to music and read picture books or graphic novels on it.

If any of these peak your interest then hope over to take part.
