I feel as though I say this all the time when I post my review of a book I read as part of a blog tour but believe me when I say it, I love taking part in blog tours especially with books I get to read and review because you get to read a book by an author that perhaps you haven’t heard about before and today’s was the perfect case. I haven’t heard of this series or of Laura before this blog tour and I am so happy that the blurb caught my attention.
I loved reading Counting On You and excited to continue this series. Not sure when book two will be coming out but I will definitely keep an eye out for it and in searching for this information I did discover that she has eight previous books out that I will definitely have to purchase as they seem right up my alley. Who doesn’t love a fun romantic comedy to break up your regular reading routine?
I was really happy when we a rainy Sunday because I was able to devour this book in one sitting. I was hooked right from the get go and had to finish it. I was not disappointed and happy that I was able to curl up on the couch to read it without interruption which is rare sometimes.
Before I begin I just have to say that this was a roller coaster of emotions and I could totally relate to Haleigh in some many ways as I am sure a lot of people will be able to. I know I wish I could go back to high school and change some things. I have never been to my high school reunion because I was worried what people who think or say, you know how a small town can be.
When I started high school (grade 10) my first boyfriend ended up being a long distance relationship and we kind of drifted apart due to the distance but we still cared about each other. Then I took some bad advice from a best friend and put myself out there only to end up with a broken heart and since that incident I closed myself off not really allowing anyone to come close and I regretted that. Anyways back to the review…
Our main character Haleigh is a math teacher in her hometown. She has been single since college when she suffered a bad experience after the break up of her high school boyfriend who took advantage of the situation to make her feel even worse and former friends and classmates think the worst of her.
Just when you think things can’t get worse for poor Haleigh news of the high school reunion is coming and people are basically betting on the fact she will not show up since her ex has been spreading rumors which I thought was rather childish and immature on his part considering he is supposedly “happily married” so push comes to shove and Haleigh decides she needs to act fast and find a date to the reunion, so she agrees to a blind date.
Well you know this won’t be an easy ride for Haleigh and she basically crashes and burns on this blind date and you can’t help but feel bad for her and hope that something good will come out of this blind date and thankfully it does by way of Ian who is a app developer for a dating app who has been watching this train wreck happen. He offers to help Haleigh but will she accept?
I really enjoyed this and it was such a fun read. I loved watching the relationship grow and develop between Haleigh and Ian and wanted nothing more for her to have her happy ever after in the end. Its not a easy road for them but I think in the end its well worth it and I think things happen for a reason.
I am curious to see where this series will go and if their will be more Haleigh and Ian in future books.
