What happens when you uncover years of secrets and find out everything you thought to be true was a lie?

Drew Stevens finds her world turned upside down when her parents are brutally murdered. Soon after, she learns she inherited a property in Bar Harbor, Maine, from recently deceased grandparents that she believed had died when she was a baby.

Drew travels north to settle her grandparents’ estate, but finds more questions than answers as the truth starts unraveling. What she didn’t expect to find was Saint, whose reputation was as tumultuous as his past. But the very thing that brought them together was the same thing that kept them emotionally caged.

With Saint’s scars so deep and Drew’s so fresh, can the pair heal from their painful wounds or will they be pulled beneath the darkness of their pasts?

I love discovering a new author and when I saw this tour I quickly jumped on board. Marni Mann is the author of several books which I will have to look into.

Pulled Beneath is the first book in the Bar Harbor series.

I have to start of by saying I was pulled in to the storyline from the first page. It was non stop and I don’t think I put the book down unless it was necessary. I managed to read this pretty much in one sitting. Its been awhile since I have done that. I have to say there are so many twists and turns in the book that you never know what is around the bend. These are the kinds of books I really enjoy reading.

The book begins with Drew crawling out of the bed of her friend, David. They have a no strings attached relationship. She is young and wants to pursue her career of photography. She has been through to much and likes the way things are right now.

On her way home Drew spots flashing lights and it only hits her when she gets closer to her house that its there. She quickly finds out that both her parents have been brutally murdered. Drew blames herself for not being home to protect her parents. She feels as though if she had been there this wouldn’t have happened. She chose being with David over her parents.

Still grieving the lose of her parents she receives a letter from a lawyer in Maine. The letter basically tells her that she has just inherited her grandparents house. Drew is confused because she was always told her grandparents died before she was born. She had no idea that they were alive basically up till her parents death.

Hoping to get some answers she decides to drive from her home in Florida to Maine to find out all she can about why her parents lied to her and why her grandparents never reached out to her before. I know I was a little confused and wanted to know what had happened.

Arriving in Maine she meets with the lawyer who basically says sorry can’t help you. So Drew goes to the house that is now hers. She quickly meets Saint. He is her next door neighbor. You know something will come of this. Drew discovers that there is more to Saint and she wants no part of this. She just wants to find out what she can and sell the house and move on with her life.

Will Drew be able to resist Saint and get out of town asap or is there more to him then meets the eye that Drew just can’t resist?

Will Drew be able to uncover all the secrets and lies she has been told?

I am excited to see where this story will go and hopefully it will happen in the next book.

His nose grazed my neck and cheek. “I can smell Brady all over you,” he said.

“Brady?”

“You went to Caleb’s house, didn’t you?”

“Who’s Caleb?”

That name didn’t sound familiar. But even if it had, I couldn’t concentrate on anything besides his mouth. The fullness of his lips. The wetness that I wanted to somehow seep into my own mouth. His warmth was enveloping me.

“It’s the brown house in the woods, the one I’m pretty sure was having a party tonight.” His mouth closed and he exhaled through his nose. He was several inches taller than I was, and his down-pointing gaze sent his breath straight into my mouth. I swallowed it like it was smoke. There was a hint of salt in his taste along with something fresh and sweet like mint candy. “I bet Gabe found you before everyone else.” He dipped the bottom half of his face into the water, submerging the parts I was having a hard time dragging my eyes away from. “I imagine Brady hated that. And I bet the two of them got into a fight.”

“How do you know?”

“You’re new here and no one’s been able to touch you yet; I know how they think.” One of his hands gripped the rock above my head; the other hugged my waist, clenching my skin as he spoke. “I bet you were wearing something tight, too…teasing them with your body.” My legs lifted on their own and wrapped around him. He didn’t flinch. He didn’t stop me or pull away. “I can’t really blame Gabe for wanting you, can I? Or Brady since he was just protecting what’s his.”

Did he really mean that? Or was he trying to get a reaction out of me?

“I’m not his…or anyone else’s.” His eyes gleamed from my words. “And you can’t smell Brady,” I added, “because he wasn’t all over me.”

His nose skimmed my chin. “I can smell his weed on your skin.” Then it raised an inch higher and scraped over the edge of my lips. “And his beer on your breath.”

“Don’t judge me just because I needed a break. We can’t all be Saints…” He hardly looked like one, and he wasn’t giving off an innocent vibe despite the lack of booze in his scent. Still, I couldn’t help but feel like I had done something wrong tonight. When I went to pull away, to put some space between us, my legs tightened instead. My body was responding on its own, regardless of what my mind was telling it to do.

“There’s no judgment coming from me. I’ve been where you are so I know what it’s like to find something that makes you feel normal… and to want more of it.” I remembered the conversation we’d had about this. I didn’t know why we were talking about it again or why my actions even mattered to him. But there was a part of me that felt the need to explain myself. I didn’t want him to get the wrong idea. I wasn’t a pothead, and I definitely didn’t have a drinking problem. “Just because I can relate,” he said, “doesn’t mean I’m going to let you go swimming tonight.”

“You say you’ve been where I am…how do you even know where that is?”

I didn’t even know what this period of my life was or how I was supposed to overcome this overwhelming pain and move on. The weed helped; so did the alcohol that was still warming my chest. But it wasn’t enough.

Nothing was enough at this point.

“How do I know?” he echoed. “I just do.” His voice was soft but demanding. His fingers had found my waist again and held me in such a strong grip that my emotions began unraveling. Despite my resistance, I was being pulled toward him. I was opening in a way I had never done before. And I was doing it for a stranger. A sexy stranger.

I had witnessed his pain in motion; the way he had stroked over the sea fueled by something so similar to what fueled me. The agony he couldn’t hide from his caramel-colored eyes. I was drawn to whatever was broken in him, probably in the same way he was drawn to what was broken in me.

He continued speaking…I could feel his words because his breath kept hitting my face and his sound floated into my ears. But I wasn’t listening. I couldn’t. My brain had gone to that place…where all I saw was the blood and all I heard was my parents’ screams. My secrets were on the verge of being revealed, and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

by Kimberly Derting

Genres: Fantasy & Magic, Girls & Women, Love & Romance, Young Adult

True love-and world war-is at stake in the conclusion to The Pledge trilogy, a dark and romantic blend of dystopia and fantasy.

Charlie, otherwise known as Queen Charlaina of Ludania, has become comfortable as a leader and a ruler. She's done admirable work to restore Ludania's broken communications systems with other Queendoms, and she's mastered the art of ignoring Sabara, the evil former queen whose Essence is alive within Charlie. Or so she thinks.

When the negotiation of a peace agreement with the Queendom of Astonia goes awry, Charlie receives a brutal message that threatens Ludania, and it seems her only option is to sacrifice herself in exchange for Ludanian freedom.

But things aren't always as they seem. Charlie is walking into a trap-one set by Sabara, who is determined to reclaim the Queendoms at any cost.

The Offering is the last book in the Pledge trilogy.  The other books in the triology are The Pledge and The Essence .

I am really looking forward to starting Kimberly Derting’s other books The Body Finder Series (The Body Finder, Desires of the Dead, The Last Echo & Dead Silence) and she has started a new trilogy called The Taking. Which sounds really good. Have you read any of Kimberly’s books?

With this being the last book in the series I am going to try and avoid going into too much detail about the book. I will say that I really enjoyed and I loved the characters and the story line. I was sad to see it end but happy with the way it ended.

I loved watching Queen Charlaina of Ludania grow. She started out the first book as a vendor girl with probably no expectations of ever becoming a queen although I wonder if she ever dreamed of becoming a queen? When she became queen she didn’t let it all go to her head and I loved that about her. She was looking out for the best interests of her and her queendom.

She wanted the Queendoms to have peace and get along but Queen Elena made sure that wouldn’t happen and she tried everything in her power to make sure that would happen. Queen Charlaina will do anything to protect her Queendom, her family and friends even if that means sacrificing herself.

The Offering was were Queen Charlaina shined in my opinion. She has grown up alot since The Essence. She is a strong character that knows within herself she can think for herself and can fight. She manages to push the essence of Sabara and she can keep her at bay even though you can tell Sabara is fighting to win.

There will be some shockers in the book that you won’t expect as I was but it was nice to see things all come together. There was no loose strings lying around.

I really enjoyed the series and happy that I finally got to read the books that I had sitting on my shelves since the first book came out.

I have to say that I absolutely loved the covers for the books.

Did you read this series? What did you think of them?

1 Excerpt

I walked through the forest for what seemed to be hours enjoying the air, the fresh smell of the oak trees and the subtle sound of a creek nearby. I couldn’t help but wonder where I was headed. Maybe it had just been so long that I’d forgotten my destination. Where was I anyway?

Suddenly, my haze lifted and it was perfectly clear. Not more than a hundred feet in front of me I saw the unmistakable signs of the clearing ahead. Until that point, the path was barely three feet wide, not quite a trail. The trees became increasingly separated, which I hadn’t noticed until then. Up ahead, the trees were at least ten feet apart. I knew exactly what was beyond those trees. I needed to hurry, there was not enough time. There was never enough time!

As I ran to the clearing just ahead, my chest began to tighten. The heat on my skin and my shortness of breath had nothing to do with running. Deep in the pit of my stomach I knew that he was there. I knew that it was too late. The rush of adrenaline that flowed through my veins would not be enough to get me there in time.

Breaking through the trees and into the clearing, my fears were about to become my reality. I saw the unmistakable silhouette of the man that I had been looking for as long as I could remember. I ran with the hope that this time, I would catch him. This time, I would see his face and hear his voice. Finally, after all this time I caught up with him. I was about to touch his shoulder so that he would have to turn and face me, when everything went black. That’s when I heard beep, beep, beep! What was that annoying sound? Beep, beep, beep! Where was it coming from?

Beep, Beep, Beep!

The alarm clock. I hate alarm clocks. It was time to get up. I would rather have finished my dream. For six years later the dreams had remained unchanged. I always saw the man, who I knew that I loved, but I could never see his face. How could I love someone that I’ve never met? I could not deny what I felt when I saw him. The intense emotions ignited my need, my desire, and my completeness. If I could have just seen his face, maybe I could understand what I felt for him.

AnnMarie Stone

I was born and raised in Arizona and currently live in Phoenix. The heat can be difficult during the summer, but I try my best to spend most of my time during the hottest months indoors writing. I would love to travel someday and I hope that my writing will take me many places and hopefully not just in my head. My favorite vacation spot right now is San Diego California, but my dream places to visit are all overseas. Although, since I have only seen a fraction of the United States, I would love to travel the nation someday as well. First on my bucket list however is to explore the historical landmarks in Greece and Italy, and the castles all over Europe.

Up until recently, I have spent most of my adult life in college and working in sales and customer service type positions, while also raising my two incredible kids and serving three years in the Army National Guard. Recently I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a published author and I have begun to work on my writing full time. I am currently working on my first book in an eight book series which I have titled Reborn. Writing for me has always seemed like an unattainable dream, but now I realize that some dreams are only unattainable if we do not attempt to reach them.

I completed my Master of Science in Psychology in the spring of 2013 and I have also taken some graduate courses in Ancient and Classical history. I scheduled to begin my doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) in August 2014. I believe that the knowledge I have gathered from my life experiences as well as my education has assisted me in creating some interesting and complex characters. I hope you enjoy getting to know them as much as I have.
