The newest trend lately seems to be a product subscription service. If you are a reader of my blog you know that I am into these subscription service with boxes coming from Topbox, Glossybox, Glymm and Loose Buttons providing me beauty products and samples for a monthly fee. Which I throughly enjoy. Its like Christmas monthly.
So if we can have beauty products subscription services why can’t we have a monthly book subscription service? Well guess what? A Canadian company called Mail a Tale has come up with this fantastic idea.
They currently only offer books from birth to 10 years old. They offer award winners, classics, new releases, front list titles and back list titles.
I was so thrilled when I got the chance to review this company and the products. I was so excited when I got the package last week and even Michael was thrilled when he found out that the box was actually for him. (I meant to include this in my The Mailbox Post and totally forgot about it.)
I’m not sure if that label changes on the boxes monthly or if its always on the box but I love that quote
If you are a dreamer…come in. (Shel Silverstein)
The box was well packaged and we were excited and curious to find out what books they sent us. The beauty of this subscription service is you have no idea what they are going to send and its based on the profile you create when you join the site.
When we opened the box we could see that it was well packed and everything was in place. Nothing was damaged.
The theme for June was Fairly Tales Old & New. Hmm sounds interesting doesn’t it?
Before looking at the books we read the card that is sent with each monthly shipment. Even though its a printed card that everyone gets they do personalize the card with a “Hi Michael” and the books they picked for him.
The books we got in the June shipment was:
-The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart (This is the first book in the series)(paperback)
-Windblowne by Stephen Messer (paperback)
-The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a ship of her own Making by Catherynne M. Valente (hardcover)
I was really excited to get The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a ship of her own making because that has been on my wishlist since it came out.
I was really impressed with the books we got and happy to discover that its books we didn’t already have in our own personal library.
I think this would make a great gift idea if you are looking for something to get a child who loves to read or if you live in a area that you might not have access to a bookstore. I was really pleased with the service I got and the books.
