It’s Monday What are you reading? #34

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers to see what they have read and what they are reading this week.

The wonderful host of this weekly meme is Shelia from Book Journey. You can check out Sheila’s blog to find out all the details on how to take part in this fun weekly meme. Although I should warn you that this can lead to an ever increasing TBR pile, wish list or borrowed books from the library.

Do you ever feel as though time seems to be passing you by? I have felt like that ever since we have gotten back from vacation. Its hard to believe that this week Michael goes back to school. (Wednesday 31st)

Last week I managed to read:

The Quest of the Warrior SheepSally's BonesThe Warrior Sheep Go West

All three were cute middle grade books that I would highly recommend. I was really happy because Michael said he would like to read all three of them very soon. So I will keep them for him.

Other then that not much reading got done because we had a busy week between dentist appointments for both of us, taking my mother to two appointments, the circus, problems with my computer (keep getting a display driver error so I have to call about my computer this week) and plastifying exercise books and duo tangs. Yes you read that right I had to plastify 8 exercise book and 8 duo tangs. I have no idea why they didn’t ask for plastic duo tangs. This has baffled alot of the parents I have spoken with. Anyways its all done.

Hopefully this week will be a reading week for me as well as getting caught up on reviews. As of right now the only book I really have to read is:

Amish Values for Your Family: What We Can Learn from the Simple Life

My review will be posted tomorrow as I am part of the tour for this.

Hoping to get to this one too this week since this just recently came out.
Little Black Dress: A Novel

This is what I have planned this week, what about you?

Do you ever feel as though time seems to be passing you by? I have felt like that ever since we have gotten back from vacation. Its hard to believe that this is literally Michael’s  last full week left of summer vacation and its back to school on the 31st.

Since coming back from vacation we have been finishing up the last week of swimming lessons (that was last week) and the same for the summer reading programs so now this last week there is really anything to do apart from dentist, eye dr and hearing test appointments. School supplies are bought and labeled and put in the new back pack.

This past week I have to admit not much reading got done because of the construction happening behind my house.

They have been working on this street behind my house now since June and it wasn’t too bad until we got back from vacation and realized that they were literally working right behind the house and the wake up call was on Monday morning at 6:30AM.  So all this past week I have been up at that time and dragging through the days.

I was super excited when Friday came because I knew it would be a quiet weekend but yea you guessed it my bubble was burst big time but thankfully I don’t think they started until 7am. From the looks of it, it seems like they are finished and have moved up so I am hoping that next week will be just a little more quieter.

I am super excited because I am hoping to get through these books this week and to get reviews up as well for them. Here is what is on my reading pile this week:

Sally’s Bones by MacKenzie Cadenhead. This is coming out in September 15,  2011 and it sounds really good.
Product Description

Bones is the dreadfully delicious girl’s best friend who helps solve this Burton-esque mystery. Sally is a quirky character who loves Death Rock and faded blue jeans. She fits in better with the Addams Family than with a clique of catty sixth grade girls. After her mother’s death, grief-stricken Sally begs for death…and death is exactly what she gets: a tail-wagging skeleton dog called Bones. A gift from beyond the grave, Bones is a dreadfully delicious girl’s best friend. In this cleverly written, alliterative tale the neighbourhood’s dog treats go missing and everyone blames Bones. Sally must solve the mystery to save her cadaverous canine from puppy prison. “This unusually clever, fun teen comic is based on the novel premise that parents don’t just seem evil, they actually are evil supervillains… story with clarity, a dollop of drama and just enough pizzazz.” — Publishers Weekly praise MacKenzie Cadenhead’s The Runaways Vol 1 Grades: 4-7

The Warrior Sheep Go West by Christine & Christopher Russell. This is the second book in the series and this comes out Sept 2011.

This is a wildly western adventure about five sheep, one mad professor and a quest to save all of sheepdom. A strange monster called Red Tongue has threatened all Rams, Ewes and Lambs. The Warrior Sheep know it’s up to them to stop him. Last time they saved the Sheep God. This time they have to save all of sheepdom. ‘We did it once, we can do it again,’ Wills the lamb says. And so the Warrior Sheep go West! To America, to the desert and the hot air of Las Vegas. But they have a crazy scientist following them, and Tod and Gran have been slung in jail by a over-zealous Sheriff. Can the Warriors give Professor Boomberg the slip and stop the sheep-killing monster? They’ll need to hoof it, before Red Tongue tramples all over America…Read it: it’s absolutely baaarmy!

The Quest of the Warrior Sheep by Christopher & Christine Russell. This is book one in the series and I bought it while I was in the US because I knew I was going to read the second book very soon. This one came out last year.

This is a super-funny, super-crazy crime caper with five rare-breed sheep! A silver object falls mysteriously from the sky and lands on Sal, a matronly Southdown ewe who lives happily with her sheep friends on Eppingham Farm. The sheep are convinced that an ancient ovine prophecy is being fulfilled. They must go North (so to Scotland, perhaps?), on a mission to aid Lord Aries, Sheep of all Sheepdom, Ram of Rams, in his battle against the powers of darkness in the shape of Lambad the Bad. Thus the Eppingham Posse of Rare Breed Warriors is born. In fact, the silver object is a mobile phone, dropped from a hot air balloon by Luke and Neil, who have been stealing bank money over the internet. They need that phone back to hide the evidence. And a couple of woolbags aren’t going to stand in their way! The chase is on…

So guys, this is what I am planning on reading this week, what about you?

Its a beautiful day here in Montreal and a super busy day because I am in the midst of packing and getting ready to leave for vacation. It will be nice to get away for a little while.

I didn’t get much reading done last week because my sister in law and nephew were in town for a good part of the week.

The only book that I was reading and I actually completed it was:

Last night when I was going to bed I picked up:

I am about half way through it so I am sure I will have this done by the time I leave.

As for vacation I am on the fence about what I want to read because I have so many great books sitting on my shelf that are calling me to read. So as of right now (as I am writting this post) I plan on bringing:

I also have my Kobo with me so if by chance I finish those I will have a whole bunch fo ARCs on there to read.

This is what I am planning on reading, what about you?

As I was writing up another post I quickly realized that this is literally the last week of July and roughly this time next month I will be getting Michael ready for back to school which will be alot of transitions for him because he is going into grade three so that means he will be shuffled around with new classmates and new teachers and on top of that he will be going into the senior building that houses grades 3 to 6. Its so hard to believe how fast the time goes.

This past week not much reading got done because I was in cleaning mode because my sister in law and nephew will be coming into town and staying with us for three days so yea alot of cleaning got done and alot of late nights being online trying to prepare for next week when I will be on vacation.

Yea so excited. I am once again heading to Illinois again. I am so excited because I will be going to Anderson’s Bookstore, Borders and Barnes & Noble. Plus some other exciting shopping for school supples, groceries (because you guys in the US have so many great things that we don’t have here in Canada) and I am sure a visit to a lego store and gaming store are in order as well.

So with that being said, I think I finished up what I said I was going to read (but I didn’t pick up Ripple) and honestly the only book I have been reading this past week and I am only about half way through it is:

Its written in the exact same way as Ellen Harper’s books so this is new and different but I am enjoying it.

So really for the week since I have company here I will probably finish up this one and figure out what I will be bringing on vacation to read. I am going to bring perhaps two actual books and my kobo becuase I downloaded a bunch of egalleys.

Hope your having a great week. Happy Reading.

I have to apologize in advance if over the next few days you see alot of posts by me but I am behind on posting as you may have noticed. I have been really busy with doing all kinds of summer activites with Michael and when I have been coming online at night I haven’t had the energy to sit and do blog posts but thankfully this week is a quiet week with only swimming lessons and then Friday is storytime. I tend to do this every summer and try to jam pack all kinds of activities daily.

Anyways this is what I have been reading:

I am almost done this and really enjoying this great middle grade book.

I had to take Michael to the library because he wanted to learn about chess so of course I didn’t have a book with me and it was too hot to sit in the computer area so I saw this sitting waiting to be put out so I grabbed it. I read about half of it while Michael was in learning about chess.

So I will probably finish those two books this week and I will probably pick up:

This is what I am reading and what I plan to read, what about you?

This was the first official week of Michael not having school so we were trying to adjust to a whole new routine. Thankfully he slept in a few days this week. So when he wasn’t at his swimming lesson (Mon to Thursday), playing tennis, (pics to come) he was:

He absolutely loved watching Cars 2 in the theatre and reading his Pokemon manga’s so far but thats not all. He has taken part in two library summer activities as well and they were:

Every summer the library invites to the kids to come and use some side walk chalk and decorate the front the the library. He is also in the lego club.

Not alot of reading got done this week for me like I was hoping because we are still trying to adjust to a new schedule and routine but I did do some reading.

So last week I finished up:

I also finished:

I am currently reading:

This is for a upcoming book tour this week.

So this week I am planning on reading:

This is what I have read and currently reading. Have your read any of these or plan to?

Happy 4th of July to all my US readers.

My currents reads last week were:

I read and finished The Mistaken Masterpiece and reviewed that last week and I am almost done Wake Unto me.

Also last week I ended up reading:

Both are graphic novels I borrowed from the library.

This week I am going to be reading:

Alot more reading will be done now since Michael is officially on summer vacation and he has swimming lessons Monday to Thursday in the morning so I will be able to read a bit there as well as well as other times.

It feels good to be on vacation but that still means getting up early. I was lucky that Michael slept in till almost 9am this morning. I know that won’t happen much but I will take what I can get.

So what have you read this past week and what are you reading this week?
