January 12, 2008 is a day I will never forget. I awake to hear the tragic news that not only rocked me but my home town of Bathurst, New Brunswick and the whole nation.
In the wee hours of January 12, the Bathurst High School Phantoms were returning home from a basketball game against a Moncton high team when tragedy strike. The school van fish-tailed on the slippery high way and collide with a transport.
The morning we lost seven talented and amazing young men and a teacher. There was four survivors. They may be gone but they aren’t forgotten.
The movie actually begins the year after the tragedy and how The Phantoms brought the school and community together to win the provincial basketball championship. This was just what the school and the community needed. I was so happy when I heard they won.
I have to say that I am so very proud of my little home town and school for doing so well in this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families.
I am very thankfully and appreciative of the amazing staff of this project for allowing me to talk about this movie with you my readers. Check back tomorrow for some special interviews I have. They were very gracious to allow me to ask some questions of the cast and producer of the movie.
