On Vacation and a Give Away
We have an almost 5 hour layover here. This is a city that I wish we could have at least spent the night in as its one of my must see cities. Perhaps one day we will return and visit. On the upside I have been told there is alot of shopping that can be done in this airport 🙂
Then after that lay over we are flying here:
Please note that this is open to anywhere that Book Depository ships too.

Book Spotlight/ Magnolia & Lotus
ABOUT MAGNOLIA AND LOTUS: SELECTED POEMS OF HYESIM
Enlightenment as a process: what might it have been like for a Korean Buddhist monk who lived hundreds of years ago?
If enlightenment is an unfolding of wisdom, what progressive awareness is suggested by that unfolding?
Imagine, then, this same monk becoming the leader of the nation’s most important Buddhist Order: the Chogye. Magnolia and Lotus: Selected Poems of Hyesim suggests what Hyeim might have valued in life; as a monk; and as an early founder of Korea’s largest Buddhist sect.
Despite his achievements, this collection asks, did Hyesim eventually relinquish his position? If so, why? What were Hyesim’s thoughts in his final years?
Each of the translated poems, attentive to the nuances of Hyesim’s Buddhist and Confucian background as well as the landscape of Korea, posits the point of view of Hyesim, his voice, and his time.

Meeting Up With Two Montreal Bloggers
This morning I got to meet up with Lucy from http://www.moonlightgleam and Tina from http://bookshipper.blogspot.ca/ for breakfast this morning. It was so nice to see them again since its been a few weeks I believe. I saw them both shortly before leaving for BEA.
Once again I had every intention of taking pictures again of the food and us but we got into talking about my trip (my train travels and some of the hassle I encountered), BEA (publisher parties, the books, the people etc), NYC (what I saw and did) that I forgot to take pictures and only realized as the waitress was cleaning up that I didn’t do any. Next time I promise. (sounds like a broken record right?)
After our talk about NYC and BEA we got to talking about things in our lives, what we were doing, plans for the summer, lack of blogging (mainly on my part) etc. I am always amazed at how fast the time flies by when we meet up.
I am sure we would have stayed longer had we not had prier commitments. I am thinking that we need to do a brunch sometime soon.
Anyways no meet up would be complete without some kind of swap and this is what I came home with:
From Tina I got: a Publisher Weekly magazine (you can’t really see it because of the glare) a Neutrogena facial cleanser sample (I love this, I got one and used it when I was in NYC and I am thinking of perhaps purchasing a full size eventually) and the book Hostage Three by Nick Lake. This was actually one of the books I wanted to get at BEA and didn’t. Thanks Tina 🙂
From Lucy I got: a cute sample box filled with a Dior Gentle Cleansing Milk (I love this and I actually ended up buying the full size bottle a few months ago), Garnier hand lotion sample (another love of mine and I think I might pop that into my suitcase for traveling), LACoupe shampoo and conditioner sample, Two Lips Gloss in the shade Vixen, naked skin cream, Whipped Body Cream in Villainess and a pretty blue eye shadow.
I also got five books from Lucy and they were:
- Exposure
- Delusion
- What We Became
- Bewitching
- With a Little Luck
I am happy because I have been eyeing Delusion and Bewitching every time I go to Chapters but never bought them because they were in hardcover so I am thrilled to add these to my collection.
Now I am off to the library to return a few items (books and video games) and to hunt down the suitcase that is hidden in the children’s section. Michael is thrilled to be going. He is determined to find it as many times as he can because he is hoping to win the small suitcase filled with candy.
Have a great day everyone
