We all have a Walt Disney cartoon tune or melody in mind, reminding us of magic afternoons spent with our parents when we were kids or with our own children now that we are grown-ups.

I grew up on watching Disney movies every Sunday night and those were the best memories I have. Watching the movies and then listening to the music that was in them. So I was thrilled when I was accepted to listen and review Jazz Loves Disney especially since quite a few of my favorite Disney movies are included in this cd.

I love listening to jazz music but I have to say its not something I listen to all the time so it was nice to add this into the mix this past month. All the artist performing on the cd are all new to me with the exception of Nikki Yanofsky. She is a local Montreal artist.

Jazz Loves Disney was recorded between Paris, London and Los Angeles by a dream cast. It is incredibly coherent, as if all participants had agreed to pay a rightful tribute to the most beautiful and symbolic tunes of Walt Disney’s magic world, as if nothing was too good for the stars when they revisited the classics and the sweet childhood memories connected to them.

Disney has always held a special place in my heart and I love that I now care share my love of Disney movies with my son. We have watched quite a few Disney movies and we both love Pinocchio, Jungle Book and Toy Story, we have watched these multiple times over the years. Sadly he doesn’t share the same love of Lady and The Tramp, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Frozen or Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs but thats okay maybe one day he will.

I always remember how I felt when I watched Disney, and I still get that same feeling of warmth and love. Who else cries during a Disney movie? Disney always had the best movies and you could see it in the production of them.

When it comes to the music in Disney movies they have it down pack thats for sure and its surprising that even though I am much older I still remember the words to the songs. My mother use to always say that after listening to When You Wish Upon A Star I would sing it all the time and I do have memories of when I was a little girl looking out my bedroom window at night and singing that song softly and wishing upon a star. Although I can’t remember what I wished for but I sure its was always something different and probably trivial.

Just recently I have noticed that I catch myself singing Let it Go much to my son’s dismay but I noticed that when I am really stressed and annoyed with things that I sing this under my breath and it honestly helps me get through things and to let things go. Its funny how one song can do that to you.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, you will always love a good Disney movie and I love being able to share that love with my son. You are never too old to watch cartoons and that’s what I want my son to know that you are never too old. I wish I would have kept all my old Disney movies but I am happy that they get released occassionally on DVD.

This cd is the best thing to bring back all those memories from childhood. The cd is fantastic and it stayed true to the orginal Disney songs.

Nikki Yanofsky

“Disney represents my childhood and the way I grew up listening and watching the movies & I used to sing the songs being a kid, I loved it so much. It brings back some really good memories for me so it’s really cool to be part of this project and relive those moments

The Disney movie which affected me the most probably was the Aristocats, that movie was the first time I heard Jazz as a little kid, and I just remember loving the music so much, it was not the most popular movie when I was young but still my favorite one.

“Someday My Prince Will Come” comes from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, I love that movie so much, all the different personalities…”

I was lucky enough to be provided a digit download of Jazz Loves Disney for review. I think this would make a perfect Christmas gift for all those Disney movie lovers.

CD Review/ This is What The Truth Feels Like by Gwen Stefani

  • Band/Artist: Gwen Stefani
  • Title: This is What The Truth Feels Like
  • Date: March 18th, 2016
  • Label: Interscope

This is What The Truth Feels like is Gwen Stefani’s 3rd studio release. I think its her most personal work to date. You can feel her emotions in each and every song. She worked with producers Mattman & Robin, Greg Kurstin, JR Rotem and Stargate.

Gwen Stefani has has sold close to 30 million records as the front woman for the band No Doubt and as a multi-platinum solo artist.

I was first introduced to Gwen Stefani was she was in No Doubt and I really liked them but it wasn’t really until Gwen went out on her own that I started to really fall in love with her music. Yes I admit I was dancing and singing to Hollaback Girl when it came out and listened to it non stop. Please tell me I wasn’t the only one doing that?

I was lucky enough to be provided a digit download of This is What The Truth Feels Like for review and since getting this digital download I have actually went out and bought the cd. Its currently in my car and we listen to it all the time. Michael loves Gwen Stefani’s music just as much as I do.

I love Gwen’s newest cd. You can feel all her emotions in each and every song. I love this side of Gwen. What I love about this cd is that each song is so different from the previous one but it suits the cd so well. All the music flows perfectly. We get to see a softer side to Gwen as well as that edgy girl we have grown to love from No Doubt.

I am going to include videos below of my two favorite songs so far from the from the cd and I think Where Would I Be, Truth, and Me Without You are easily favorites for me as well. In all honesty I really enjoy all the songs on the cd. There is a little something for everyone I think in this cd.

This is What The Truth Feels Like has 12 tracks but if you purchase your cd at Target you will get a bonus of 4 tracks which are Target exclusive.

Track Listing

  1. Misery

Used to Love You was the first song that came of the cd and this was one of those pure emotion songs. You could feel the heart break that she was going through. This is one of my favorite songs because listening to it it brought back memories of a past relationship I was in and this sums up those feelings perfectly.

Make Me Like You is another one of my favorite songs this is pure Gwen in the making. This is her kind of video. Its hard to believe that she filmed this live music  during a Grammy Awards commercial break. The only hiccup in the whole production was when her stunt double fell during the roller skating scene. This is one of those happy upbeat songs and I love listening to this and I admit when I listen to it its up pretty loud.

CD Review/ 7 by Seal

  • Band/Artist: Seal
  • Title: 7
  • Date: November 6th, 2015
  • Label: Warner Music

I didn’t realize that this was Seal’s 7 cd. For some reason I thought he had more then that out. I enjoy listening to Seal’s music so you can only imagine my surprise when I found out that I was going to get the chance to listen to his lastest cd before it hit the stores.

Seal reunited with longtime collaborator producer Trevor Horn, who he has worked with in the past on his debut, 1991’s platinum-certified Seal, continued with the quadruple-platinum Seal II [1994], the gold-selling Human Being [1998] and Seal IV [2003], and most recently Soul 2 [2011].

I really enjoyed listening to 7. Each song is different from the next but the theme to each song is LOVE. Its like each song is at various stages of the love phase. I am trying to figure out what is my favorite or favorites and I honestly have to say that I love each song because it invokes a different kind of feeling for me.

I love how different each song is in beat and the instruments that are used and I think thats what makes Seal so unique. You can tell that Seal is pouring his heart out in this cd and I am sure most of it is in reference to his break up with Heidi and I have to say that I think this has got to be his best cd to date and that is only my opinion. I really like this side of Seal.

I have always enjoyed listening to Seal’s music. There is something just a little different about Seal’s voice and his music that attract me.

This is definitely a cd I can play all day because its got a great mix of all kinds of music and it will appeal to all kinds of music fans. This would make the perfect Christmas gift to the music lovers out there.

CD Review/ That Would Be Me by Harry Connick Jr

  • Band/Artist: Harry Connick Jr.
  • Title: That Would Be Me
  • Date: October 23rd, 2015
  • Label: Sony Music

As a huge Harry Connick Jr fan I was beyond thrilled to get the chance to review his newest cd. Honestly Harry Connick Jr can do no wrong in my eyes. I love listening to his music.

I was reading a little bit of information on this cd and I was surprised to find out that Harry Connick Jr had stepped outside of his musical comfort zone when putting this cd together. He teamed up with two external producers and has come up with something amazing in my opinion.

There are songs on the cd that are Harry Connick Jr but then you have others that you sit there and go wow is that really Harry?

I love how he has mixed this cd up you got some songs that make you want to get up and dance and other songs that are perfect for blasting in the car and bobbing your head back and forth. This is definitely a CD that I am going to be putting in the car.

I can actually say that this entire cd is my absolute favorite that I have reviewed recently. I can listen to this all day every day in my opinion and I will be purchasing this week when it comes out .

If your a Harry Connick Jr fan then you will love this cd no doubt about it and I think if you have someone who is looking for something new in music then I recommend this.

  • Band/Artist: Various Artist

  • Date: October 30th, 2015
  • Label: Verve Records and Walt Disney Records

This morning I have another CD review for you and today its the We Love Disney compilation. I grew up on Disney movies and to this day I still love watching Disney movies. Who doesn’t?

Verve Records and Disney Records got David Foster to produce this compilation. We Love Disney features of some of today’s hottest artist such as Gwen Stefani, Ariana Grande, Jessie J, Jason Derulo and quite a few others.

I loved every song on this compilation and still to this day every time I hear Rainbow Connection I still get a tear in my eye. I don’t know why but its by far my favorite song. Gwen Stefani did an amazing job with the song.

I think each song was suited for the artist that sang it and I loved how they made each song their own. I have to admit there was a few artist that I didn’t know so I had to youtube them.

CD Review/ Cinema by Andrea Bocelli

  • Band/Artist: Andrea Bocelli
  • Title: Cinema
  • Date: October 25th, 2015
  • Label: Verve Records

This might come to a complete surprise to you but I enjoy listening to Andrea Bocelli’s music. I was surprised that I got accepted to review his newest cd called Cinema. Cinema features a collection of movie songs etched in the culture and hearts of several generations including epic theme songs featured in films such as “Doctor Zhivago”, “Love Story”, “The Godfather”, “Life is Beautiful”, “Gladiator”, “The Postman”, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and many more, as well as popular songs from stage musicals, immortalised by their film versions, such as “West Side Story” and “Evita.”

What I love about the cd is that Andrea has recorded songs in five different languages: Italian, French, Spanish, English and Sicilian. He has also partnered with Arianna Grande and Nicole Scherzinger.

This album is beautiful and I can’t wait for it to be released on the 23rd because I think a few copies will be purchased and given out as gifts this year.

As I sit and listen to the music and write this review I have to say that one of the biggest things that surprised me was E PIU’ TI PENSO duet with Ariana Grande. I think this has to be one of my favorite songs from the cd. This song is suited for her vocally and its done so beautifully. Sends goose bumps all over as you listen to it. Who would have that someone like Ariana Grande could pull of this song?

I love how Andrea puts his own spin on some of the classic hits from the movies its the same song just done in his own magical way that makes you love that piece even more then before.

I have personally always like NO LLORES POR MÍ ARGENTINA but after hearing Nicole Scherzinger sing it I actually like the song even more now. I don’t know if she brings a modern feel to the song but there is just something that like more about this version.

I think this cd will appeal to Andrea’s fans as well as the fans of the movies.

Cinema Track Listing:
1) MARIA from ‘West Side Story’
2) LA CHANSON DE LARA from ‘Doctor Zhivago’
3) MOON RIVER from ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’

5) BE MY LOVE from ‘The Toast of New Orleans’
6) THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT from ‘The Phantom of the Opera’
7) BRUCIA LA TERRA from ‘The Godfather’
8) POR UNA CABEZA from ‘Scent of a Woman’
9) NO LLORES POR MÍ ARGENTINA duet with Nicole Scherzinger from ‘Evita’
10) L’AMORE È UNA COSA MERAVIGLIOSA from ‘Love is a many splendored thing’

CD Review/ Rebel Heart by Madonna

  • Band/Artist: Madonna
  • Title: Rebel Heart
  • Date: March 10th, 2015
  • Label: Interscope Records

Rebel Heart is Madonna’s 13th studio album. The album was produced by Madonna, Diplo, Kanye West, Billboard, Avicii, DJ Dahi and Blood Diamonds, Ryan Tedder, Toby Gad, and Ariel Rechtshald. There is collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Nas, Chance the Rapper and Mike Tyson and the album was recorded in NYC, London, and LA.

Its been awhile since I bought a Madonna cd and I have to say that after listening to this all week this will be one that I will go out and buy. Listening to the cd it brought me back to her earlier days and its got that whole vibe to it. Rebel Heart is definitely a Madonna cd because its her to a tee with the edge (and typical Madonna) as well as you hear the softer side of Madonna which I feel we haven’t heard in awhile.

Rebel Heart has 19 tracks. I should warn you in advance that there is some language and some inappropriate content on it that you might not want to have playing with young ones around. I took no offense to it because its Madonna!

Each song on Rebel Heart is so different from the one before it but as you are listening to the cd it all blends in and goes so well together.

With that being said I loved this album and I have to agree with People Magazine saying that this is Madonna’s best album in a decade. Some of my favorite songs are Living For Love, Ghosttown, Hold tight, Joan of Arc, Wash All Over Me, Best Night, Messiah and Rebel Heart.

I think if you liked Madonna in the early days you will love this cd just as much as I did. I honestly wasn’t sure how I would feel about it but I am happy that I got accepted to review this because I really enjoyed this cd and I know it will be something that I will be going out to get.

Rebel Heart Track List

01 “Living For Love”
