Library Loot # 3 July 10th Edition

Library Loot is a weekly meme that is hosted by Eva and Marg.

To take part all you have to do is list the books you borrowed from your library this past week on your blog and then go back to Marg’s and Eva’s and leave your name in Mr Linky.

This morning was another story time for Michael and the theme was Rare and Unusual Animals. This is the craft they made today. Its an armadillo. Made from a paper plate with foam for the ears, pumpkins seeds to show some of the armour, wood chips for the claws, a little bubble bee and on the piece of branch is a snake.

I still have the books from last week to read and I only brought back the dog craft book. This week we borrowed:

  1. Blonde Roots by Bernardine Evaristo
  2. Score One for the Sloths by Helen Lester
  3. Diary of a Wombat by Jackie French
  4. Jeffrey and Sloth by Kari-Lynn Winters
  5. Swim, Little Wombat, SWIM! by Charles Fuge
  6. Where to, Little Wombat by Charles Fuge
  7. Hunwick’s Egg by Mem Fox
  8. The Day Leo Said I HATE YOU! by RobieH. Harris
  9. 10 Things I can do to help my world by Melanie Walsh
  10. Wink: The Ninja who wanted to be noticed by J.C. Phillipps
  11. Little Old Ladies by Franziska Kalch

Library Loot #2 July 3rd

Library Loot is a weekly meme hosted by EVA and Marg. In this meme you share what books you borrowed from the library this past week. Just remember when you post your Library Loot to go back to both EVA’s and Marg’s blogs and put your link in their Library Loot post.

Here is what we still have left from our last visit to the library:

  • A Garden of opposites by Nancy Davis
  • The Foggy Foggy Forest by Nick Sharratt
  • The Jolly Postman or Other People’s Mail by Janet & Allan Ahlberg
  • The Very Cranky Bear by Nick Bland

We went to the library this morning because it was the Summer Reading Program story time. The theme this morning was Cats & Dogs. The kids got to listen to a story about a cat and dog. After the story they make a craft based on the story. The lady who does this is fantastic and Michael loves going to story time when she is there. Ms Debbie (as she likes to be called) comes up with the best crafts. I have no idea how she does it but all I have to say Ms Debbie if you happen to be reading this “You Rock”.

This is what we took out this week:

  • Wings by Aprilynne Pike
  • If I stay by Gayle Forman
  • Between Mom & Jo by Julie Anne Peters
  • Stanely’s Wild Ride by Linda Bailey
  • Buster by Denise Fleming
  • Buster Goes to Cowboy Camp by Denise Fleming
  • Can You Growl Like a Bear by John Butler
  • Engelbert Sneem and the Dream Vacuum Machine by Mr. Daniel Postgate
  • Dog Crafts by Linda Hendry

Here is a poster that Ms Debbie does for the Summer Reading Program every year. This years theme is Go, Wild, Read! For the kids every hour you read you get one ticket and all these tickets are placed into a huge clear box and 3 times over the summer they draw a name for a prize. The prizes are usually gift certificates to various stores.

Michael is usually lucky and manages to win one. One summer he won 2 gift ceritificates.

Also at the end of summer when the reading program wraps up they have a huge party for all the kids and they usually have some kind of entertainment and then all the tickets are placed back into the box and you have a chance to win an assortment of prizes.

Thankfully families are able to take part and this is something new they have started about 2 years ago and for every 5 hours read you get a ticket to put into a special box for a family prize.

Its a great way to encourage reading over the summer for kids and mom’s too.

Library Loot #1

I have been seeing this on Jenn’s blog for the longest time now and finally decided to join in on this weekly meme. I don’t know why its taken me so long to join this? I always borrow a ton of books for Michael from the library.

For us at our library we are allowed to borrow 50 items for 2 weeks per card so that would be 150 items on all three cards. Sadly we can only put four items on hold per card.

Library Loot is hosted by Eva and Alessandra. In this weekly meme you are encouraged to share the books that you have checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate you can check out either of the above blogs and then just write up your post. Feel free to steal the Library loot button and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. You can also check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.

This week I borrowed:

  • They Call Me Red by Christina Kilbourne
  • Good Housekeeping magazine (Jan, Feb & March issues)
  • Parents Magazine June Issue
  • A Garden of Opposites by Nancy Davis
  • Mighty Machines Airplanes
  • Mighty Machine Police Cars
  • The Foggy Foggy Forest by Nick Sharratt
  • Harry and the Dinosaurs Go Wild!
  • The Jolly Postman or other People’s letters by Janet & Allan Ahlberg
  • The Very Cranky Bear by Nick Bland
  • Swapping Lives by Jane Green

I always borrow tons of children’s, YA, cookbooks and magazines from the library. Michael loves going to the library and picking out his own books so over the summer you will be seeing alot of is Library Loots.

What did you borrow this week?
