The Mailbox post (December 17th-22nd)

Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Mailbox Monday is originally hosted by Marcia  . In the summer of 2010 Marcia decided she needed a change in hosting and didn’t want to rely on one blogger alone to do it because its a lot of work so she decided to put Mailbox Monday on tour and so far with great success it has made monthly stops at more then a dozen blogs and this year is booked until the end.

So I am really behind in doing some mailbox posts and so many other posts and I am sorry. Its December so you know what that means? Cindy gets sick. It honestly never fails but what can you do.

The host for December is http://www.sukosnotebook.net/. This is a new to be blog so I am excited to go and check out that blog.

Nothing book wise came in the mail this week.

Hope everyone has a good week and Merry Christmas. Next week will be a short mail week since Tuesday is Christmas.

So I am really behind in doing some mailbox post and I am so sorry. Not sure what has been going on. I honestly think with the upcoming holiday season and the crazyiness of Michael’s hockey (will explain in a bit) I think I just got out of my groove but hoping that things will be back to.

The host for December is http://www.sukosnotebook.net/. This is a new to be blog so I am excited to go and check out that blog.

With it still being November I should tell you that Kathy from Bermudaonion graciously stepped in to host this month as a back up host. Kathy is one of my awesome booking friends and I only get to see her in real life once a year so I am excited to hopefully see her in May 2013.

This past week was an awesome freebie week. We started off with two trips to the dentist (one cleaning for Michael and one for me) and we got two little bags filled with a tooth brush each, tooth paste each, dental floss each and I get the bill and he gets goodies LOL the pencil is bubbles and a magic trick top.

From the Costco sample pack:

~one pack of Tide pods
~Scope mouthwash
~Mr Clean sponge

From the P&G sample pack:
~one pack of Tide pods

~Scope mouthwash
~Crest white stripes
~Tampax sample kit

Then finally the last item which came in this purple gift bag.

I knew this was coming (meaning I thought it was going to be mailed) but was totally suprised when it was hand delivered. Yes someone came to my door and rang the bell and handed it over to me. I was so shocked and thrilled.

To find out what is in this gift bag you will have to check back in December because its part of something that I am doing in December.

So what did you get in your mailbox this past week?

This week was rather quiet in the mailbox. I think my mailman might have been surprised. I got one book for review, the P&G sample pack and two beauty box subscriptions that I already posted this past week.

Books for Review: American Cookery by Amelia Simmons. This is coming out October 16th, 2012. Thanks Andrews McMeel and Simon & Schuster for sending this too me.What a beautiful little cookbook that looks like its old. I can’t wait to glance through this a little more.

Books Bought: Michael wanted to go to chapters to pick up Thea Stilton and the Ghost of the Shipwreak. He has gotten into Thea lately and reading them. Of course he is like his mother and wanting to read books in order and this was apparently the next one.

He also picked up the Diary of a Wimpy kid bookmarks because like his mother you can never have too many right? Also at chapters one of the employees who is a friend gave Michael the other bookmark that she made. Thanks Nancy that was very nice of you.

Books Borrowed: I ended up borrowing The Diviners by Libba Bray. I had been hoping to get this when I was at BEA this year but sadly by the time I got to the booth they were gone so I figured I would wait and I was happy when I found out a friend had it and I could borrow it off her. I recently saw the trailer for this and I wanted to read it even more.

Freebies Received: I got this sample pack from P&G and it contained:

  • a bounty towel
  • Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner
  • a Frebreze kit (holder and scent)
  • dawn dish soap
  • crest white strips
  •
So this is what I got in my mailbox this past week, what did you get?

It was a quiet mailbox week as you can and a little busy considering this was the last full week of summer vacation. Tuesday was the summer reading party at the library and it was so much fun every year they always have the best entertainment and this year was no exception. They hired a magician and he did all kinds of tricks.

My camera was a little slow in taking the pictures. Here he is making this boy float and it was awesome. That was only one of the things he did that amazed the kids and parents.

Friends of ours had their daughter picked to help with an act and this one he make a snowflake out of tissue and after it was cut to look like a snow flake he made it snow. The kids were in awe.

After the entertainment it was time to get into the real fun. There was roughly 250 participates in the summer reading party this year and I’m not quite sure how many hours we all read for and I will try to find out when I go to the library this week.

We were lucky enough to win the family draw and it consisted of a $100 Chapters giftcard. Here is Michael with the Liberal leader of our area who presented us the prize:

Then while we were waiting in the cotton candy line

Michael got the suprise of his life, he won this:

Its a jar full of jelly beans, 693 of them. I have managed to hold Michael off of them for now but I’m not sure how long I can do it LOL

This weekend  we will be gearing up for Wednesday and back to school. The fun starts with preparing back to school lunches. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate them. The only thing is Michael doesn’t like sandwiches and its gotta be peanut free.

I only got two books to review and it was these:

Thanks Random House for sending this to me.

Thanks Sourcebooks. I will be on a blog tour for this so keep an eye out for this to appear shortly on the blog.

I bought no books this week:

So that is all the new goodies that came to my house this week. I hope you have a good week. Happy Reading 🙂
