Day 14 Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge: Blogging Wish List of 2014

Its hard to believe that the Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge has wrapped up. I want to thank parajunkee.com for coming up with this fun feature and I hope she will continue to do one of these. I had so much fun visiting other blogs and leave my comments.

Today’s prompt is to share with you my blogging wish list of 2014. Wow this is thinker and one I have to think about.

  • My first wish would be to continue blogging through 2014 and to be consistent with it.
  • I wish there was more hours in the day to read because I am hoping to make this a year that I read more and make a dent in my TBR
  • I am hoping to continue with visting more blogs and commenting on their posts as well as my own.
  • I wish to win a lottery that we allow me to attend all those awesome book conferences.
  • To stay organized with my daily schedule with posting but as you can see I already slipped on that one LOL
  • I wish to spent more time on my blog and write meaningful stuff.

This was really hard to sit and down but at least it gives you an idea, right?

Day 13 Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge: Share a Blogger Horror Story

The Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge is almost over. Where has the time gone. This past 13 days have been alot of fun. I loved doing each and every prompt and discovering new blogs and bloggers.

Today’s prompt is Share a Blogger Horror Story

I have been blogging since 2008 and over the course of five years I don’t think I have ever encountered a horror story or at least nothing comes to mind. Perhaps I blocked that tramatic memory.

The only thing I can really say that was bad (but then again it wasn’t me it was an author) was when I went to a signing for a well known adult fiction writer ( I won’t mention any names and I certainly never read said authors books again) everything was going good and I when said author started to do a reading for their newest book I was going to record a little snippet well I was sitting their waiting for a good time to record (and I don’t have a huge camera its just a regular digital one that makes no noise or anything) and the author just stopped in mid sentence and asked me to stop recording because it was to distracting to them.

This author had never even looked up from reading so I had no idea how they knew I was getting ready to record. What bothered me the most was I had spoken with the authors rep before hand to ask if it was okay to record a snippet for a the author meet up post and I was told it was okay.

I never did post about that author meet up and after that I gave away all the books I had on this author and I refuse to support that person any longer. Which is sad on the authors part because they lost a fan and supporter. I would have promoted them here on my blog.

So their lose is another author’s gain.

Whats your horror story?

Day 12 Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge: How do You Plan on Getting More Followers This Year?

As a blogger you always wonder how you can go about getting more followers to your blog. I am no expert on this by any means but for me this year I plan on:

  • be more active on twitter and promote my blog more
  • comment on other blogs
  • comment on my own blog
  • perhaps taking part in meme’s/features that require me to leave a link
  • when attending events or meet ups making sure to always have business cards to hand out
  • if you follow me I always follow back

What do you plan on doing?

Day 11 Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge: TBR Shelf: How Many?

I knew this prompt TBR Shelf: HOW MANY? would eventually pop up on the Parajunkee.com Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge.

I honestly have to say I have no clue how many books are in my TBR shelves.

I can say that as of today (Saturday January 11th) I have 5 books that I recently got for review that I need to read.

For everything else I would have to make a guess because I have a ton of books boxed up in boxes in my basemet, a cedar chest full of books, two five shelved book cases (packed in) a small four shelf book case that is packed in as well as well as a stack of books beside one of the book cases.

I want to put a low number and I don’t want to go to high, so can I say roughly 400 books I currently have in my possession? That is my books alone and not my son’s who by the way has a smaller collection then me.

These are books that I bought, was given and picked up at BEA over the years.

Over the next month or so I will be doing some renovations in my basement so I will be going through those boxes and giving away a ton of books because if I keep everything there will be no room on the wall to wall bookcase we entend on building.

Day 10 Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge: New Things You Will be Doing This Year

We are slowly counting down and there is only a few days left in this fun challenge.

Today is day 10 and the topic is: New Things You Will Be Doing This Year

With every new year, as a blogger you try and find ways to stand out amongst all the other bloggers (in good ways and not bad) with content etc. I am no exception to the rule.

This year something new will be happening to Cindy’s Love of Books and its a good thing I think for my blog. I can’t tell you what it is just yet but as soon as I get more details I will let you know.

Also for this year I am going to branch out much more then I did last year with doing some features and product reviews. I am going to test the waters and work on my own features and pray to god that no one has done one of my ideas LOL

This year I will also be working on my content. I need to write better and say what I am thinking in my blog posts.

I will also be attempting to work on commenting alot more both of my blog and twitter.  With that I am going to attempt to make my facebook page work and sync it with my blog.

I am also going to step out of my comfort zone and not be afraid to contact companies, publishers etc I need to do this. I did some of it in December and got great results so I want to pursue that more.

What do you have planned for this year?

Day 9 Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge: Cons or Events You Hope to Attend

There is only a few days left in the Book Blogger New Year’s Challenged hosted by Parajunkee.com

Sadly this year I won’t be able to attend BEA. Perhaps when it hits Chicago in 2016 I might be able to swing that. Maybe 2015 for the last year in NYC could be possible.

I would also love to attend ALA but the midwinter ones are out of the question due to the locations. I would love to do the annual one in chicago but that is only in 2017 or 2020.

Right now I am looking at attending one conference here in Canada but nothing is posted about when it will be just that at the end of the month is the super conference. Not sure if its then or not but if thats the case the perhaps next year I will make it a point to attend that.

I will try and attend as many author events as I can this year.

What about you?

Day 8 Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge: Your Favorite Book Blogger Moment

Its Day 8 of the Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge and today’s topic is Your Favorite Book Blogger Moment (thats the direct link to link back your post)

Wow this is a hard topic today, isn’t it?

I don’t think I can pick one specific one. So please forgive me from breaking away with listing just one.

  • Going to BEA in 2010 for the very first time with fellow Montreal bloggers (Tina, Avis, Linda and Donna) I was so excited because this was my first trip with blogger friends and my very first time going to NYC!!! Getting lost in NYC with Tina, visiting the Strand for the first time, and going to my first broadway show.
  • Going to BEA in 2012 and rooming with complete strangers Kate from Midnight Book Girl Kim from On The Wing of Books and Kellie. It was so much fun and I know Kim will hate me for mentioning this but I have too 😉
  • Going to BEA in 2013 on my own. I was so nervous but once I got there I was thrilled. I love NYC and if I could win a lottery I would buy an place and go down all the time. This was another fun trip I got to spend the week with Sheila from Book Journey . I actually surprised myself with getting around NYC.
  • Going to my very first publishing house and getting a tour. It was so much fun and it was so nice to meet the publicist I work with.
  • Meeting Lesley Livingston and totally fan girling when she said she recoginized my blog. That was the first for me.
  • Working with so many great publicists over the years
  • Meeting so many awesome bloggers in real life (to many of you to list but you know who you are)
  • Getting my first ARC

That is just some of my favorite blogger moments. Do you have any?
