Today’s topic is:

Why do you blog about books?

Today’s topic is a good one. Don’t you think?

The reason I blog about books is because I always love reading and sharing my thoughts on books with friends and family so when I stumbled upon blogging 5 years ago I knew I would have another outlet to share my thoughts not only with friends and family but with other people as well.

I loved reading what people had to say about books that I had read or wanted to read.

I never knew blogging existed until I found it and I love seeing book reviews from real people because to me they are the ones that well sell a book to me over a paid writer.

What do you do you think?

Today’s topic is:

Quick!  Write 15 bullet points of things that appeal to you on blogs!

  • The design of a blog always appeals to me because it gives you a glimpse of what the blogger likes. I am all about original looks.
  • No noises. Since I am online alot and at different times of the day I hate going to blogs that have music or sound effects. That turns me off.
  • Being able to find things easily it contact info, search bar etc
  • Personal posts/pictures always draw me to blogs because its always nice to find out info about the blogger
  • Variety. I love when I blogger will talk about anything and everything such as book reviews, meet ups, events they went to etc
  • Honesty. You can tell when I blogger is being honest and sincere in there posts
  • Diversity. I love going to blogs that don’t have the same thing that the previous 5 I just read do.
  • Easy to read blogs. If a blogger has a dark background I tend not to go back just because its too hard on my eyes.
  • No Drama. If a blogger is always causing drama I tend to avoid them and their blog. I won’t support a blogger who does that. We are adults (mostly) and not kids
  • Professionalism. I know for a good majority of us this is just a past time, but we should treat this like a job.
  • I really like when bloggers keep their posts on a page instead of going to their blog and seeing the brief post with a click more button. Sorry if I see that I usually don’t tend to click more to read it. When the full post is on a page I will continue to read the blog to see what else they posted.
  • I love when bloggers do their reviews and take advantage of spacing their paragraphs. They will have several paragraphs instead of one big paragraph which makes reading the post a little hard.
  • An easy way to subscribe to your blog. If I like a blog and I want to follow them I need an easy way to do that.
  • Easy loading blogs. I tend to bail if it takes to long to load.
  • Memes I have to say I really like them especially mailbox posts because you can discover so many great books that way that you might not have heard about, as well as the top ten lists because you can discover little things about a blogger.

Do you agree or disagree with anything? What is the one thing that appeals to you?

Talk About Your Blogging Quirks

I have been blogging for almost 5 years (blogiversary is coming up very soon) and by no means do I consider myself a vetern blogger at all. There is always something to learn.

  • I never plan out what I am going to read, I know I should and anything that has a dead line then that will be read first but once I am done I tend to check out release dates and go that way.
  • While I am reading a book I have a a note book beside me to take notes so that when its time to review it I am good to go.
  • When I start doing my review I tend to put it all down and then go back and edit it.
  • If I know I will be away from the blog for an extended period of time I will make sure to get things scheduled to post before leaving.
  • When I sit to write my reviews/post I do it right in blogger.
  • Whenever I do posts I have to have complete silence and alone. I can’t write with noise or people in the room.
  • I can never give a book a point rating because I always feel guilty.
  • I don’t take part in many book things (challenges etc) just because I end up failling and not completing them.
  • I over use a ton of words in my reviews.

Do you have any quirks?

Today’s topic is:

Describe How You Shop For Books

I don’t really have a particular way that I shop for books and I know that there are people who have their way of shopping nailed down to a tee.

As a book blogger I do have a little note book that I list my wish list books and I make sure I carry it around with me all the time. I have even started to make notes in my phone with books I really want to check out.

When I go to the book store, I avoid taking a bag when its offered because that is always deadly for me. I also keep in mind of a budget I set for myself before going into the store because its so easy to over spend.

I will always head for the new releases in both the adult and ya sections to see what is new.

After that section I always head to the bargain books because you never know what you will find there.

Then its off to the adult and then ya sections to check out the books I have on my wishlist  to see if there is anything I really want. Sometimes I even end up scratching books off the wishlist because they turn out to be something that I didn’t want to read in the end.

Finally when that is done I will walk back through the sections to see if there was something I might have missed that I didn’t have on my list.

Do you have a routine for shopping?

Today’s topic is:

Recommend a Tear Jerker

If you know me in real life you know that I am a big baby and can almost cry at the drop of a hate. I am an emotional person and when things are happy I cry, when things are sad I cry. I have always been like that and will always be like that.

I really had to think about this and I have to say almost anything written by Jodi Picoult (My sister’s keeper, 19 minutes) and Lurene McDaniels (Don’t Die, My Love, Six Months To Live, etc) are all tear jerkers for me.

I read alot of Lurene McDaniels when I was younger and loved her books and they always made me cry because even though they were fiction books they were based on real things and it made you appreciate life.

Do you cry? What would you recommend as a good tear jerker?

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge…Day 4

I am a little behind in posting this challenge (since last week, plus once again I am behind in blogging period, sorry about that) and I am hoping this morning to get up to date on this. Sorry if your feed gets swamped with posts today but I will be back posting them.

Its always so much fun to go away but coming back is always hard with catching up on laundry, getting back into library activities and going to the pool for swimming lessons.

Anyways when I got back home and started checking my blog I kept seeing a bunch of bloggers I follow taking part in April’s ( Good Book Good Wine ) 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge . I was quickly intrigued so I had to head over to see what it is about.

Today’s topic is:

What’s the last book you flung across the room?

I have to admit it actually takes alot for me to throw a book across the room and its rarely done.

But I have to admit within the last few months I have thrown one book across the room and that was

I read Beautiful Diaster by Jamie McGuire and liked it so when I was at the store I saw this one I instantly picked this up,  of course I didn’t read what the book was about before buying it (and I wish I did) because that would ruin the surprise, right?

Well I got home and instantly started reading it only to be looking around thinking this feels like deja vu, it sounds just like Beautiful Diaster. So I stopped reading and read the back of the book and I realized that this is the exact same story as Beautiful Diaster except told in his point of view.

Since I had picked this up at Costco I didn’t have  my receipt or else I would have tried to return it. I was a little annoyed so needless to say the book was thrown.

Why do authors do that? Why do publishers allow it?

What do you think? Have you ever thrown a book across the room?

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge..Day 3 (Blogging BFF’s)

I am finally back from my exciting vacation and at the time of writing this I am suffering from jet lag and I was told for every hour in time difference it takes that in days to get back to normal. So for me the time difference was 6 hours.

We are practically falling asleep on the couch in the evenings at 6pm and I have been waking up at 2am. Its been brutal and the days are long. Thankfully things are slowly getting back to normal and I think Michael has been really lucky and its going faster for him.

Anyways when I got back home and started checking my blog I kept seeing a bunch of bloggers I follow taking part in April’s ( Good Book Good Wine ) 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge . I was quickly intrigued so I had to head over to see what it is about.

Granted I am late in starting this but it was nice to see that April is keeping this going for awhile so yay. Its never to late to sign up and start all you have to do is head over to the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge to find out how to get started.

Who are your blogging BFF’s?

I have been so lucky in my almost five years of blogging to meet so many fantastic ladies that I consider friends for life.

So if you follow my blog you will know who they are. I hate making lists of people as you may already know so you know who you are.

Every one I have met has been fantastic and great friends and I honestly never would have thought when I started blogging almost five years ago that I would have that many great friends online who are always so helpful with offering me tips, advice or knowledge about blogging, books, etc.

Do you have any blogging BFF’s?
