Love On Hold – Release Day Blitz
By Robin Shaw
Contemporary Romance
Date Published: 3/5/2014

Millionaires Mariah Culver had finally thought that when she had something good, it’d last—until she discovered that the man she was set to marry in two months had betrayed her. Devastated, Mariah regrets that she’d trusted another man after the first love of her life, Aaron Wilkins had broken her heart. When Aaron Wilkins comes back into town, he turns her world upside down by bringing back feelings to the surface that she’d thought vanished along with his swift exit from her life.
Aaron Wilkins wouldn’t have come to his hometown of Bloomfield Township, Ohio if his parents hadn’t put their feet down. They didn’t just want him to visit his hometown; they wanted him to move back home for good. Aaron comes to realize that he can’t stay home if Mariah Culver isn’t by his side.

Dewey’s Read-a-Thon Wrap Up

Sadly, Dewey’s Read a Thon 2010 is wrapping up. What a great Read a Thon it was.

I managed to read and complete:
-Through Thick & Thin by Sandra Byrd (This was a book I bought) (271 pages)
-Alexis and the Sacramento Surprise by Erica Rodgers (This was for a tour that passed) (159 pages)
-Twilight The Graphic Novel Vol 1 by Stephenie Meyer (Another book I bought) (224 pages)
-Six graphic novels that I borrowed from the library:

  • Godchild volumes 1-2 and 3 (624 pages)
  • The Dreaming volumes 1-2 (384 pages)
  • The Big Adventures of Majoko (200 pages)

I managed to read 100 pages of Nice Recovery by Susan Juby.

So my total books read is 9 1/2

My total pages read is 1962

My total hours read is 11 hours

I knew that after finishing the three first books that I wanted to go lite on my reading and also because those graphic novels are due back at the library today.

So this is how I managed with the read a thon.

I feel bad because I never went to comment on any blogs but will be tackling that this week with all the comments I was left. I didn’t do many challenges either because I was having computer issues and getting online was difficult.

Thanks to all that left comments I will be replying to them this week. Hope everyone had fun and see you at the next read a thon.

Dewey’s Read-a-Thon End of Event Meme

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
-I think because I had the break in the afternoon from reading that it made it work for me. Although at 1:30am I was getting tired so I ended up falling asleep on the couch until 5am.

2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
-Graphic novels of any kind are really good to break up the read a thon as well as light reads or small reads IE young adults or middle grade books.

3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
-I think it was great the way it was.

4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
-I think for me I had computer problems so I was reading more then being on line. LOL

5. How many books did you read?
-I read the 6 graphic novels I borrowed from the library and the 3 books that I own so that is 9 books.

6. What were the names of the books you read?
I read Twilight the graphic novel, Alexis and the Sacramento Ssurprise, Through Thick and thin and the graphic novels pictured below.

7. Which book did you enjoy most?
-I enjoyed reading Through Thick and Thin.

8. Which did you enjoy least?
-There really wasn’t a book I didn’t enjoy reading.

9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
-No I wasn’t a cheer leader.

10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
– I will definetly be taking part again for the next read a thon. I will be a reader. Not sure if I could do the cheerleading as there is so many blogs to follow and i love being able to tackle a pile of books in a day.

Dewey’s Read-a-Thon Update

Nice RecoveryThis is I guess my second update from this morning.

After reading Through Thick and Thin by Sandra Byrd I was suppose to take a half hour break but that turned into an hour break. I was going to fellow read a thoners blogs and the Dewey home page checking out the mini challenges when I got side tracked so I quickly ended up getting offline.

I picked up Nice Recovery by Susan Juby to read and preceeded to read that for an hour and a half. I am about half way through that. I stopped at noon to have lunch and the quickly popped online again to check the challenges.

When I looked at the time I realized that I had to leave to pick up Donna from Books Bound because we were going to chapters to meet up with Catherine McKenzie the author of Spin. Got my book signed, picture taken and we chatted for a bit. Look for my post about this meet up this week.

While at Chapters we met up with Linda from Better With Books and her boyfriend. Linda came down to get her book signed and do to a little book shopping.

We all split up and looked around the store. I picked up a couple of books so check back this week to see what I bought. Then Donna and I went upstairs to Starbucks to get a cold drink and rest a bit.

I was looking out for Laura Fabiani the author of Daughter of Mine as she said she was popping in. I got to meet Laura last year when I reviewed her book so it was really nice to see her. I have a post to write up this week talking about it.

When I came home i quickly picked up Twilight the graphic novel by Stephenie Meyer to read before heading out to my mother’s for supper. Managed to read it in about an hour. I am going to be reading Twilight this summer I think.

We didn’t stay that long at my mother’g because I think Michael might be getting sick as he seems to be showing some signs. So while he watched some tv I picked up Alexis and the Sacramento Surprise and just finished it. Took me about an hour and a half to read that.

Sorry I don’t have pictures to show of the books but for some reason I keep getting an error message.

Dewey’s Read-a-Thon Mini Challenge

I am not sure what this mini challenge is numbered as because I quickly want to enter this one.

Bart from Bart’s Bookshelf is hosting this one. Here is what his mini challenge is:

Quite simple really, I want you to pull three or four books off of your
bookshelves and use them to form a sentence, from the book titles, take a
photograph and upload it somewhere you can link to it from. (ie: your blog,
photobox, flickr any of the various twitter pic sites, facebook… etc… etc…)

He suggested you don’t spend more then 10 minutes doing this one and I think I did.

Here is my sentence:

Five things I can’t live without: my little red book, New york City, roses, the blue notebook and marshmallows for breakfast.

I hope that is okay if not perhaps you got a good little laugh out of it.

Dewey’s Read-a-Thon 1st Challenge

Okay I think I just realized I labelled these wrong so let me correct this, the post after this is technically the intro mini challenge and this is the first mini challenge. So sorry to confuse anyone.

Thanks to Miss Remmer from Miss Remmers Review for hosting the first mini challenge.

In this challenge we would like you to write a post on your blogs about
your kick off strategy. What have you surrounded yourself with for these
early hours of the challenge besides your books? Is there a coffee
thermos, lucky book mark, snacks, pillow…. We want to know how you have
prepared so you do not have to leave your cozy reading space (by the way – we’d
like to know what is too…. (are you still in bed, a chair, the
couch…..)

As you can see by the above photo this is where I will be situated most of the day today. This is the comfiest love seat and perfect for me to recline and stretch out. I have my book buddy handy if my hands start to get sore from holding the book (s) but for now its my handy little holding spot for a big cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Also near by is a little note pad and pen to make notes after I am done reading my book, I have two new book marks that I recently bought to use should I switch books in between readings. I know you can’t really tell by the picture but that blanket is super soft and comfy. That cute little dog is a webkinz that Michael gave me for mother’s day a few years ago to keep me company.

Happy reading.
